How to install busybox? - Legend Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried the new version of onanroid-backup from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1620255 and the script said me, i have to install a newer version of Busybox ( >= v1.20 ).
I had only v1.18 from titanium backup before. I serched in the google market and found 2 apps, BusyBox ans Busybox Installer. I tried both with the same breakdown.
They worked good and I coud try the onandroid backup - but only up to the next reboot. Then the legend stucks on the HTC-logo and only a pull-out of the battery helped.
Fortunately I had CWM and an older nandroid-backup on my SD-card ...
Anybody knows how I can install busybox without stuck ...?

[Q] Rooting/backup issues

Ok just got a replacement Vibrant. I Immediately went to the official release of froyo to test. Installed fine using KIES. Attempted to Root and did so successfully using the SuperOneCLick app wich when finished tested and confirmed root. Went to install Busybox and it gives me the Nand locked error.
1)Is there a way to confirm phone is nand locked?
2)Ive only found a way to unlock nand is for the Bell version or requires a paid app or extra non Tmobile sim card (wich I dont have). Is there a way to unlock nand for Tmobile not involving either sim card or cash?
3)Is it possible to odin a different rom/kernel (namely TW's Newest Nero) if phone is nand locked and have working busy box/root?
open titanium backup and click on 'problems?' to d/load busybox, same issue?
Yes it downloads busybox and then says "failed" after verifying busybox. Says cannot get root permissions. Please verify you have root and Busybox.
download terminal
open it
type "su" (no quotes)
what did it return?
SU comes up with "Permission denied". Should I try using the "update.zip" method with froyo? As i said the other program confirmed root supposedly. Super User Is installed BTW.
Did you follow this guide?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925400
Ok that was the guide i was following. Issue was that whenever I tried to dl the recommended file manager from market , It would show the dl completeing and then close with the application never installing and not showing up in applications. I had already had ES File explorer installed as that was my favorite on my initial vibrant (pre official 2.2) because the ease of transferring files wirelessly and other functions. I uninstalled ES and ran Titanium again and this time was prompted for SU rights. After giving rights to Titanium i again ran the "Problems" button and ths time busybox installed. Restarted Ti and ran "Problems" and updated busybox just fine.
Seems my immediate issue is done. Now on to backup and then ROM's.
You, my friend, deserve a big, sloppy, man kiss.
*BTW The app Super Manager is still not installing for me even after removal of ES and reboot of phone.
Open titanium backup
Select "market"
Wipe data
Wipe it again for good measure.
Still in tb
Menu > market doctor
Fix market links
reboot
Open market
Agree to terms
Issue fixed?
Perfect that did the trick. Never knew about that feature in Ti Backup. Again many thanks. Working on the CWR signature issues now, following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833423 . Dont want to do anything until I have a nandroid to fall back on.

It seems the busybox installer at google play isnt compatible with XPS FW
Any idea if there is a compatible one??

[Q] How can I REPLACE/MOVE an existing Busybox ?

Most apps. from the Playstore (like SG3 Easy UMS, Online Nandoid).... are unable to find my existing Busybox installation.
I found the "Busybox" on my SD under "/sdcard/Romtoolbox/assets/". It appears to be installed together with ROMToolbox Pro that I"ve bought. I suppose this busybox"" is the one from "Chainfire".
There're indeed many good guides to install Busybox (Chainfire, Stericson (Stephan), Toolbox v6.0 for SG3, but I didn't find anything about dealing with an existing busybox that is not detected by some apps.
Can I use another installer and end up with 2 different (!) busyboxes on my system or will this give problems ?
How about compatibility with my other apps like ROM Toolbox, Mobile ODIN, SuperSU Pro, Titanium backup, CWM manager...?
My SG3 - GT-I9300 still runnng on stock but is rooted (CF Root), has CWM Touch Recovery and an insecure boot/kernel installed (The Toolkit)
Thanks in advance !

I had a similar problem after rooting with the toolkit, solid explorer couldn't perform root functions.
I installed busybox free from the market and let it do a smart install, rebooted the phone and I haven't seen any problems since.

Busybox update problem (phone freezes)

Current version installed : v1.20.2-cm9
Busybox is installed to /system/bin/
Tried both (even Smart and Normal Install) (xbin and bin) but my phone just freezes when I do that with Busybox Pro.
Meaning I have to force a reset with the power-button.Did uninstall the application twice also, tried even the free-version.
With Busybox Installer the application I was able to install v1.20.2-cm9 without a problem. Verified the installation with (terminal emulator) v.20/2-cm9 bionic. Yes this application is not been updated for four months, meaning that it doesn't have the newest Busybox version.
Is there a other way to get Busybox 1.22.0 installed?
this is so damn interesting. With Busybox Pro it keeps freezing the installation. I downloaded Busybox X. Click on install button and 1.21.1 is installed. Then I was hoping that I would be able to update it to 1.22.0 in Busybox Pro itself, boom it freezes again . Well I am happy with 1.21.1 atleast.
Did inform the creaters of Busybox. Hopefully they fix the file-priveleges problem.
