Hey guys,
So today, I updated my firmware on my fascinate to 2.2 and it was being buggy so I thought I would do a factory reset. Being stupid, I didn't do it the normal way and followed this guys' guide: (I can't post a link but search for how to restore samsung fascinate to factory and it's the first link)
I followed his instructions but when I got to applying update.zip, my phone couldn't find the file (update.zip) and now it's just stuck on the recovery mode screen.
What should I do? Bring it into the store, or is there a way i can fix this at home?
Thanks for all the help!
Welcome to XDA forums!
1) Is your phone rooted? (if it is DO NOT take it to the store)
2) Do you care if you lose everything on your phone? (Your contacts will be there)
3) What color is the recovery screen?
You should be able to fix anything on the phone at home as long as you can get into Download Mode.
- yes, my phone is rooted but I haven't really done much with the rooting.
- i don't care if I lose everything
- the recovery screen is black and it has 4 options:
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
Rebooting gets me to the same screen, applying the update gets me this message:
E: Can't mount /dev/block/vold/179:9
(no such file or directory)
E: Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
Installation aborted
wiping the data/cache seems to work.
If you guys need any more information let me know.
are you familiar with Odin?
if so follow these instructions to get the phone to a good place: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1048380
Hey, so I followed all the instructions in that post and I think it worked but now I get this on my screen:
CwM Voodoo Lagfix Recovery v2.5.1.x
- reboot system now
- apply sdcard:update.zip
- wipe data/factory reset
- wipe cache partition
- install zip from sdcard
- backup and restore
- mounts and storage
- advanced
- voodoo
What do I do from here?
Go to this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1013312
Then pick a ROM. Place the ROM on your SD card. You will have to find a way to get it onto your SD card if you can't through the phone. I suggest you use the CommunityRom since it has a Kernel included with it and you wont have to worry about finding one to download.
Once you have the ROM install zip from SD card and you should be good to go.

If you reboot system now, it will boot, but on the next reboot, it will revert to the stock recovery since you have a stock kernel. You'd need to flash a custom kernel to keep CWM. I'd agree with the odin advice, just get the phone into download mode (power off, remove battery, connect usb while holding vol down and having odin open) then follow the instructions here:

hello to all
well i have tested a few ROM´s but the Custom Stock Rom (Codenam: ETERNITY) is one of the best in my opinion.
I have flashed this Rom, and it worked realy fine, my first mistake was that i did not make a backup, and my second mistake was that i have tried to flash some Mod´s.
After flashing a few Mod the Rom does not working correctly, anway i though i reflash it again, but that was not so easy as i thought.
After four time flashing, it did not work, so i thought, i flash the Original Samsung Firmware (i downloaded from Sammobile) so after flashing i rooted my S2 again and the Rom Eternity download it again, and save it in my mobile, in CWM window, i have follow this instructions.
Installation Pocedures:
If you're coming from ICS Roms, Stock Roms, AOKP/AOSP Roms or Custom Roms:
Download the zip file.
Put it in either internal or external SDCard.
Reboot in recovery, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache.
Go to Mount and storage, format preload.
*If you do not have fromat preload in recovery (Except Philz and Jeboo kernels), Please go to Other Links section on 1st post to get the GS2ROMWipe. Then, run this in recovery*
Install the ROM.
After installation finish, reboot your device.
The first boot will take several minutes.
Please allow 5-10mins to let the media scanner to finish after configuring the Setup Wizard.
Then, open up SuperSU App and update it.
But it did not worked, later i have follow the instructions from the Video, the same problem.
I see only on Screen : " Samsung Brilliantly Stock Custom Stock ROM"
Please allow 5-10mins to let the media scanner to finish after configuring the Setup Wizard.

[Guide] How to install ClockworkMod Touch Recovery On Huawei Honor 3 HN3-U01
Before You Begin
◘ Root your Huawei Honor 3
Required Files
◘ TouchRecoveryInstaller-v1_01.apk
Installation
◘ Install TouchRecoveryInstaller-v1_01.apk on your device.
◘ Open the Application and tap "Install Recovery". (grant SuperUser access)
◘ After Installation tap "Reboot into Recovery" to boot into recovery mode.
Thats all!
Thanks for the guide. . Added this guide to the wiki. Hope you dont mind.

Ive booted into recovery, it says data wipe successful, but user data remains intact. I had also wiped data partition, cache and dalvic cache separately and had no difference. Only a factory reset from within the rom wiped it.
I do not think normal recoveries work, because Huawei Glory 3 uses a K3V2 processor, third-party development of recovery normally does not work. This is according to the chinese dev site, shuajizhijia ,, they are now making custom rom packages with script to run via adb, for successful rom installation etc.
Cant backup with this recovery. No error message, backup dont proceed. Does anybody know why?
Note on how to root. The only way that seemed to work for me is using Eroot, see the wiki http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Huawei_HN3-U01. The others don't seem to work.
Not Working

Hey, I have tried this and it doesn't work with my device. After booting into recovery, backups do not proceed as it freezes up. If I select a package to flash, it does the same thing. When I exit recovery, the stock recovery seems to flash itself back. Is there any working recoveries for this device? I think I heard from another forum that there is a working recovery, in Chinese. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find download links. Thanks

What recovery did you use? The one described in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47250668? I don't know if backup in Recovery works on my phone, but I do recognize that the stock recovery flashes itsef back indeed. Don't know another working recovery, if someone knows another one, I would be interested as well!

Before you did the wipe data/factory reset did you happen to do a nano backup? If you didnt probably what you will have to do now is find the stock image and flash the stock rom back to it. There should be a thread about that for your phone.
no i didn t made it.CAN you pist the link of the tutorial?
