[Q] What is The latest RUU for the Rezound/Vigor? - HTC Rezound

I just moved to the Rezound from the Dinc4G LTE. What is the latest software version for the Rezound and where is the most recent RUU?

I wouldn't say way behind because the Rezound just recently got the upgrade from 2.3.4 (GB) to 4.0.3 (ICS). The Sense version is 3.6 too, so there isn't a whole lot of difference. Some custom roms are running Sense 4.0,4.1, and 4.5, so there are a lot of updates to it. They just aren't official. Are you unlocked and rooted?

Yes,unlocked and rooted. S-on though not sure what I missed.

Being unlocked and rooted with a custom recovery will make it impossible for you to get OTA's. Do you have a custom recovery installed? If you do have the stock recovery, you should still be able to accept an OTA to update your phone. However, if you have a custom recovery, you'll have to relock and run the RUU from androidpolice to get the newest everything. That shouldn't be too hard to do as long as you still have your unlock token.

Haha, have fun. There are some great ROMs out for our phones right now!

S-off tool... I can't remember if someone came out with an app that does it or if we still have to do the wire trick. Did you have to do the wire trick?
I am on Neo's ICS rage ROM also. Don't know if that makes a difference.

If I am S-ON, can I still run this RUU from the boot loader? I have heard people say that I need to re-lock my phone or have S-OFF first. I don't know what is the actual case.

I wouldn't worry about ota's. there is none planned for the future

First of all, I have just read over the last few days that if you are s-on you probably shouldn't use the global RUU as you won't be able to get the new OTA. Use the .12 one found here:
http://androidfiles.org/ruu/?dir=Vigor
If you are s-on you do need to relock before running the RUU.
fastboot oem lock
Then you run it - this one is an exe file so connect your phone to your pc and then double click on the RUU file. It will take you through the steps.
Then when it's done, you can take the latest OTA from a few days ago or if you don't want that, just don't put your back door on so you won't get service and avoid getting it.
Then you'll need to unlock again if you want root etc...

new ruu
does the new ruu include global support?

The leak does. This is the global leak RUU:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...ull-ruu-build-4-03-605-2-for-the-htc-rezound/
The official OTA RUU does not have global. The link is in my post above.

The latest OTA does, but the latest RUU of an OTA does not in my understanding, hence the term "global leak" for the one that's global.
There's no RUU of the latest OTA yet (unless it just came out in the last 24 hours or so). I'm not saying the latest OTA isn't global, just that the last RUU made from an official OTA isn't global.
From your sig I see you're running the latest OTA, so you're not running stock from an RUU you flashed.

If not looking to go back to "stock" condition. but only to try the ROM, is there any reason to relock the bootloader first?
thats the only way to do it just wait i will have rom up towmmarow im at school right now
I've tried installing this via hboot both unlocked and relocked and it doesn't actually do anything. it checks the image then just goes back to hboot. Any Idea what I'm doing wrong?
you have to fastboot oem locked and externel sdcard if that doesnt work then its a bad download
Hmm, not sure what you mean but I've followed the relock process and put the IMG on my external SD as before unlocking as directed. it seems others are having the same issue specifically with the Telus one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19423356#post19423356
then im not sure but tmous ones work
Not sure if this image will help you but xboder is right on how to flash it, when I got this ROM my phone was unlooked and I had s-off but I flashed it on my original telus ROM, maybe that's a requirement? Sorry I can't be of any help to you.

I flashed my phone with "[ROM] Stock Rooted OTA ROM w/ Firmware" From http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1467329 Here and so far so good I did this is steps
1 Wiped my phone clean
2 Flashed the "[ROM] Stock Rooted OTA ROM w/ Firmware" when it rebooted to fastboot I re-locked my bootloader.
3 Let it flash the hboot and the radio and recovery stuff.
4 Then I rebooted let the phone come to a full boot when to settings and power and shut off fast boot. Then I went to files and deleted the PHxxx.zip file on my sd card.
5 re unlocked via HTCdev.com
6 Rebooted into fastboot and reflashed the [Recovery] Amon Ra style vigor the
Latest version 3.13.
7 Flashed [ROM] - 1/28 - CleanROM GBE 1.6 - Base: OTA 2.01.605.11.
8 My phone just rocks now baseband version's is now 0.95.00.1118r, 095.00.1123r
Battery Is great 90%+ after 4 hours off the plug SO MUCH BETTER BEFOR THAT I WAS AT 80% within the 1st hour.
Signal is also better I am out in no mans land NH and I only get 1 bar max most of the time Today 2 bars faster 3g speeds.
Hope this helps anyone looking to update there radio.

Possibly, using your method, but one should not be able to flash your PHzip without relocking according to someone's post on the first or second page of your thread. So anyone using your method should have had to lock. So turn that frown upside down.
Also, I first did the OTA by flashing stock kernel, restoring my stock rooted nand and flashing stock recovery. Then I accepted the OTA from VZW without relocking and got the new baseband. I think I got everything. I then used your method to redo it since I got concerned about not relocking.

How to tell if you are on GB or ICS firmware...

Hey guys. Sorry if this is too noob of me but after some searching, I cant seem to tell what firmware I am on.
I am S-On and running Slimrom but I understand that I could be running GB or ICS firmware under this, correct?
Is there anyone out there that could let me know how I can tell what FW I am running? Any help appreciated. Thanks
Did you ever flash any of the ICS ruu files? If not then you're on GB firmware.
Also, for future reference, this belongs in q and a or general..not development. This section is only for posting rims,kernels,etc..not questions

That would be the OS build version, not the firmware version. You need to boot into the bootloader and get the version from it. You can also verify the radio versions under Settings, About Phone, Software Information, More.

Boot into bootloader.. pull battery, hold volume down and power ..... you are interested in hboot and radios.
GB: hboot 2.11 and radios 0.95...something.
ICS: hboot 2.25 radios 1.22.10.04214 and 1.22.10.0424r
Again, if you never flashed an ICS ruu its unlikely you'll see the ICS numbers and therefore on GB firmware.
OK. It seems the hboot is what you say is an ics one but the radios are not. Sorry for the Mr.blurrycam pic.
My bootloader is unlocked and I am S-off. I am not concerned with data loss as this phone has nothing on it. Can I flash the latest ics leak ruu in boot the way my phone is currently unlocked and s-off?

You must have installed the ICS hboot when you s-off'd the phone. Since you're s-off, you don't need to do the whole ICS RUU, you can just flash whatever version of the firmware/radios you want, follow the directions here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614366
Nandroid back up beforehand just in case.

Its a judgement call. I got tired of having to flash the GB patch each time I flashed a new ICS Rom so I went ahead and flashed the RUU. I actually just flashed the firmware first but found I had data issues, so I went to the full RUU, did a factory reset immediately after, then flashed AmonRA and my favorite Rom (Newts One XXX )
I had flashed the ICS Ruu a while back but went back to GB Ruu at some point because I wanted to see about battery differences. (gotta be S-Off to go back) I did eventually go back to ICS as described above though.

.1 increase? And I thought the move from 3.14.605.10 to 3.14.605.12 was trifling. Probably just an app or two updated again lol.
...
(Begins download anyway)
Edit: For anybody still reading this comment: do note that I am referring to the very minor differences between the 4.03.605.1 leak and this 4.03.605.2 full RUU as supported by Verizon.
I'm fully aware that the comparison between the 3.14.605.12 ICS OTA from Verizon and this 4.03.605.2 RUU are huge. That changelog in the original post shows differences between 3.14.605.12 and 4.03.605.2 as well.
Sorry if there was any confusion, guess I'm just keeping track of the fine details a bit too much around here lol.
This is good news for us S-on folks. I couldn't do all that other stuff just to get the update. Still on .10 leak so thanks for this. I was about to relock and flash the .12 OTA RUU, now I'll just use this.

Um it went from 3.14.605.12 to 4.03.605.2
the 4.03.605.1 was just a patch. this is the whole thing.
(they cant use the name twice. hence the .1 difference)
the latest ruu is to make the phone a global phone.
Bring on a new round of custom roms.
guys.. tip: after download is finished, open up the file with 7zip or WinRar and make sure there is not another zip in there (it needs to have just a bunch of files) if theres only 1 file which is a zip, then extract and rename thee Extracted file to PH98IMG, then open it up and make sure there are a bunch of files in it.. also make sure to check the MD5 for matching purposes.
(Correct Look for PH98IMG)

Missed the point of what I said and that is a false statement as well: there can be both a full RUU (.zip version and/or .exe version) and a flashable "patch" for the same build number.
The different build number must indicate an update to something, somewhere. The number assignment does not *directly* have anything to do with the format of how the build is delivered. That is a function of what is made publicly available and/or leaked.
That being said, this whole tangent misses the point of the main post lol. This is a very useful leak for creating new ROMs based on the latest material. :good:
Great now there's gonna be a ton of new stock, rooted, de-odexed ROM that try to make you download it by saying global ROM...

Nah, there isn't a RUU for the 4.03.605.1 build out there yet it seems. :\
There were both OTA patches and RUUs for the major official updates to GB 2.01.605.11 and ICS 3.14.605.12...
Which begs the question, as inferred by the OP's link to Android Police: if this new version has a RUU but the OTA right now does not, does that mean the OTA is just a soak test and not intended to be an "official" update in the end?
And even still, the availability of a RUU for a particular build does not necessarily mean it will be "official" in the end either. Oh, silly HTC and your leaks.

Why wouldn't the RUU be S-OFF safe? As the Android Police post says, "Your device must be fully stock with a locked bootloader or you must have S-Off."
Just like always gonna run the RUU for the firmware, hboot and radios then restore my nandroid.

I wouldn't.
just because it has a new hboot.
it would be really bad if they find a root exploit finally for out old hboot and then everyone updates to the new OTA with new hboot..
For those running this, does it have the option to disable the black menu bar on the bottom like the Evo 4G LTE got?
Hey devs, Im intnl , tried to update phone via wifi and no luck . Is it possible to see hboot flasheable zip for completely stock locked phone ?

So, the ROM listed in http://www.filefactory.com/f/75712a64f20bd56e/ is not the RUU?
Code:
RUU_Fireball_WL_S_VERIZON_WWE_2.17.605.2_Radio_1.53.06.0919_NV_VZW_2.63_002_release_283671_signed.exe
It is behind FileFactory's pay-wall, I admit. Is that why it isn't considered "released"?
So is there any chance this update will have some kind of unpatched exploit to get root?

I'm not htcdev unlocked, it's just a factory S-OFF. Does this change the install process at all?

I'm downloading it now, but I won't upload it. I'll wait for Football's official release before I mirror it.
Thanks for posting this, Nit. It installed perfectly and I ran it for a few days. As much as I like the Sense 4.1, its hard to give up all the tweaks I'm enjoying on the Venom Team's release. Will I be able to use the newer boot with the Venom ROM ?

Yes, but you all need to pull the wifi module as well and push that
So forgive the possible stupid question, but so long as were already HTCDev unlocked (did mine day one it was released) updating to the new boot.img won't relock us i assume.
Also say i install this newer version then decide i want to revert back to my custom rom based on the original RUU (QX senseless), would having the newer boot.img installed stop that or cause issues?

Once your unlocked your unlocked.
You can relock if you so desire but you will need to install the full ruu and then you can always unlock again.
Will the 3 button remap, and the volume wake mods work with this?
