BUGFIX fix for "invalid package" in AOKP&CM9Remix with WebOS Style - TouchPad General

Hi,
I am new to posting here ( been lurking for ages), so I am unable to post on the appropriate thread in the Dev section.
I have seen that many people have the problem I will describe, but no-one has posted a fix.
I am currently on vacation, but I will attempt to give details of the issue, so the Dev can implement the fix
Many people using the AOKP&CM9Remix with WebOS Style ROM are having issues when reinstalling all there applications using Titanium Backup.
The problem is not related to Titanium Backup, but the /cache partition becoming full.
The init.d scripts in this Rom relocate dalvik from /data/dalvik-cache to /cache/dalvik-cache.
The /cache partition has much less space than the /data, this results in the problems installing applications once /cache gets full ( it is approx 300mb from memory)
Clearing cache/dalvik does not fix the issue, as is full again once the device reboots ( as dalvik is rebuilt presumably)
NO further apps can be installed, and some apps FC as a result.
I have previously fixed this issue for myself in an older version of CM9, but I never documented the process
I managed to fix the issue on the [09/20]AOKP&CM9Remix with WebOS version of this ROM, but for some reason it rolled back 4 days later!!!!
Again I never documented exactly what I did......(im not a dev!)
During my self made attempts to fix this bug myself I recall reading an official bug report for CM9 regarding this issue, but it was marked as closed (by mistake, even thought the comments below it highlighted this as incorrect.)
If the forum moderator can post this information in the correct thread, in response to post #280 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1887183&page=28
In a nutshell, if the correct scripts are modified so that dalvick stays on /data and not symlinked to /cache, the problem will be fixed.
Hope I have not broken any of the XDA rules on posting, my excuse is it is my first post and I just want to be helpful.:good:
Regards,
CH

I check that out, thanks!

Really annoying....
Tried lots of fixes for this (wipes of caches/Dalvik, cache from Play Store, updates from play store etc etc)
Having found this thread, now I can see why it's an issue!
Will there be an update for this issue soon? I'm no noob when it comes to flashing, but I dont wanna start updating symlinks and moving stuff around on my own
Really liking the ROM but this problem is (nearly) forcing me back to CM9 Nightlies...
Do have some minor issues with the ROM and would like to report back what i have found so far but dont have anough posts to reply to the main DEV thread. If you want me to PM what I have seen (FCs, random reboots, and even SOD!) let me know.
Keep up the good work though, this ROM is coming along REALLY nicely.
cheers

I'm working on an update at this moment with the fix.

Thats good to hear (and kind of expected). You have been VERY responsive to requests and feedback about the ROM
Like I said, keep it up, REALLY liking it
7200+ regularly on AnTuTu makes it the fastest ROM I have used (OC to 1.7 with SCV6, KAK and Rohan's tweaks (V1.5)
cheers

Any news on the next update, SGA? this is killing me now, as cant even install any updates now :/
Will it have the camera in it, assuming JC ans Dorregaray can get it syncd in time?
Tanks again for all the hard work

I removed the offending piece of script, please flash today's build and let me know if it fixes your problem! It would take me forever to download that many apps! lol

No joy, I'm afraid.....just saw the update after i posted the earlier reply (think I was the 4th download). Just flashed over the top of9/24 still getting the 'package file invalid error'
Anything else to try?
Thanks

I'm re-uploading it something that might help... do you want to try flashing it in a few min?

Woop woop!
That one worked!
Flashed again, along with gapps, wiped caches, fixed permissions. Updates are working Ahab, managed to install a couple of new apps, and even loaded an APK from SDCARD.
Excellent work!
Will I need to reapply superchager and KAK scripts again?
And finally, why is app compatibility really bad....? Can't even install Google Maps (device is incompatible). Had this installed under official CM9 nightlies with no problems. Have tried with standard dpi (I'm currently set at 132, but have tried under 120 & 160) and even changed build prop to sgh-t989. Any ideas?
Ta
Dongers

It must be a dpi issue as with a fresh install market compatibility is great. Try setting your dpi to 120 or 160 and clearing your market data...

I'll give it a go at 120 and report back shortly....

Hmmmm.....still no joy.....
Just tried 120 and play store still telling me its incompatible...
Second screen shot shows the staff picks for tablets that I get presented to me, when under the CM nightlies, I used to get hundreds of apps listed. That second shot was at 160, but the results are the same on 120 and 132
I have been using the local.prop fix to set screen resolution between flashes so may try it with out that in place and see if that helps.
Also noticed with this build that su doesn't appear to remember when I have applied permissions for an app (antek explorer, no frills cpu, lcd density modder). Will reapply su binary from recovery and see if this works.
Ta
Dongers

Reapplying su bricked it....got stuck at the Green CM logo (after the aokp one)
Had to go back and reflash ROM n gapps to get back.
Also tried removing the local.prop but this didn't make an difference to play store, still can't install maps and staff picks for tablets are very limited....! Had this on the earlier builds too tho..
.
Full wipe (Inc sdcard and webos doctor back to 3.05) hasnt helped (I did this trying to sort out the invalid package file issues)
Any ides?

I'll get a chance to look into it tomorrow. We should be able to figure it out!

Ok VERY strange......
Went for a refresh....the Rom, gapps, jcsullins headphone fix and touch fix and it seems to have resolved all the issues I was having.....must have have been (repeated) bad flashes!
Now very stable, smooth, store app compatibility seems restored and battery seems good too, 45 ma during sleep, still seeing scores of over 7100 in antutu, oc to 1.7
VERY happy camper now!
Won't touch it now untill we see the cam fixes merged
Btw do I need to flash jcsullins fixes? Are they cherry picked and included?
Thanks for all the hard work and effort, a very good Rom!
Thanks

question for developer. su fcs

Each time I create a new rom I cannot get past this problem: superuser force closes when I update ANY app in the market. Tried all three versions of su. Any ideas?
I just left you a post over on the kitchen thread about thus issue. It sounds like you are not using the patched version. If you are choosing that option and its giving you fcs, try manually putting rmk version of superuser.apk into your system/apps

I tried all three the kitchen provides you with, but ill try adding su manually. I figured the kitchen added more than the apk so I didn't try that yet

Im downloading now and will pull the superuser out of my rom and drop it in and rebuild and see what we get with that. If it works without force closes, I will sned you a copy of the superuser app...if it doesn't, I may mess around with pulling some files and dropping them in my .6 deodex/debloat rom and see if we can get this thing kickin...it looks great though beyond the FC's...keep it up

Ok.
1) First thing I noticed right off the back is that you NEED to include a launcher with your rom or it will not load. I pushed rosie to it to be able to do anything. This doesn't have to be Rosie, but there needs to be one in there.
2) Flash the file in this post and your superuser will be good to go!
-Love the Framework mods...just make sure you toss in that and unzip and replace the superuser app and xbin/su file with the ones in the post on your future build. I will get with dsixda because something must have happened with his latest build that resulted in it not flashing the patched version. As soon as I flashed it, I had NO problem with it at all...
Hope this helps ya out and can't wait to see what future builds you have in store.

Working Titanium Backup - CM9 A.0

Let's be real, this deserves its own thread. Many people live by the sword of Titanium Backup and it's currently broken in the first Alpha of CM9 for the Touchpad. I've searched through about 9 threads and several info files and have yet to resolve this issue.
So far there seems to be a Superuser issue that doesn't seem to effect Titanium Backup Version 4.0.2, which you can get HERE. That said, restoring files continues to fail. Has anyone had success with this? If we can get a fix I'll update this post to help others.
i agree it deserves a thread...but why in development section? why not in General or Q and A section?
I would suggest just using important apps only until this is fixed. Way too alpha of a build to load up a ton of apps.

My biggest attempt was to check compatibility and display of apps I use regularly. I'm not concerned with stability at this point, I just wanted to load a ton of data and apps and see what sticks.
I just flashed CM9 over CM7 - everything worked fine and all my apps are still there
I don't see why they don't just use My back up root until titanium is fixed. It put all my apps and data back perfect.

I just flashed cm alpha0 and ran into this problem. Will try the 4.0.2 and restore some of my apps just to try everything. Looking forward to New versions with fixed titanium.
Will try my Backup root. First have to migrate Backups from phone
You know if you use ACMEinstaller2 there's no need to wipe anything. I was able to keep my apps/data/settings and I'm yet to run into any issues. This was mentioned in Dalingrin's OP on RootzWiki.

And Titanium Backup still works for you? Didn't for me.
Freezing apps does not work, and restoring apps only works if you set the app proccessing mode to INTERACTIVE.
I remember a similar issue on CM7 for the Epic 4g.

My point is you won't lose any of your apks + data. The only reason I use TB is make batch backups of my apps (which I did prior to flashing CM9), since i didn't have to wipe, not being able to restore is not an issue for me.
As worthless as this thread is becoming, it does appear that the newest version of Titanium Backup (4.7.4) does seem to be working after removing and updating superuser. Well, once at least. Functionality is back to broken again it seems.

It seems like this is the logical answer for now. I've always wondered why more people don't use My Back Up Root instead of TB anyway.

If you first install the app from market, you can install the data from titanium. That worked for me. The only hassle is that you have to do it one by one.
Edit: I'm running the pro version 3.8.7. There's a link for it here somewhere.
thanks! i needed TB to run whatsapp on CM9
4.5.2.2 is working for me. dont know if itll work for everyone though.

Some of my apps are disappearing after updating my rom?

I installed the Common Sense rom about a week ago, and when I updated it to 1.2.1, I noticed some of my apps were missing. Among these was Uniwar HD, as you can see in the attached screenshot. I got this from the Amazon Appstore and figured it might have just been because of that, but a couple of my apps from the Play Store were gone, too. Anyone have any ideas of what could've caused this?
If it helps, my Evo 3D is the CDMA version with Hboot 1.5 S-on.

How bout some help from the dev of this Rom a full wipe is required with the upgrade from 1.1 to 1.2.1 because I had to make some data/app changes to sort some bugs out. I recommend wiping everything (except sdcard) twice, and then flashing the Rom, that way no bits and pieces from the last version are there. From 1.2.1 on, you won't need to do this though.
If you haven't tried wiping the cache and dalvik-cache already, do that and see if it works. If not, do as I mentioned above. If you still can get it, send me a pm and we'll sort this out

I do surf the web but i do not download stuff often, including apps. Im on the stock jelly bean leak and philz kernel. I just cleared cache and dalvik from recovery but no help. My total apps size never crossed 1GB and when i came over to this rom i only restored what i needed only which i doubt it every crossed 600MB. I am on this ROM ever since it was released on xda and i have no issues until this morning which i find it odd.

[Q] MMS not working

I'm on Blownfuse's AOKP, and I can't send or recieve MMS. Is it possible to pull the mms.apk from a different rom, zip file, and install it into this new rom. Should I rename the new mms.apk? Delete the current mms.apk? Should I re-flash with a clean wipe or is dirty alright? Any help and advice would be cool. I'd ask the op, but I can't post there yet....
I just read up on this today. Several have had issue on the latest build and i am sure he is working on it.
BLOWNFUSE also states that he test flashes every build multiple time and he will sometimes get varied results from those flashes. I dont think it would do you any harm in another clean flash. Make a back up and go for it. I do hear a lot of good things about that ROM. I have not tried yet. I always read backwards in thread for most recent problems and fixes.
I do have all my files downloaded and ready. My work week starts tomorrow so i have to flash Monday
Good luck and let us know
