Im thinking of getting the gs2 through straight talk and i was wondering if it will get the ics update or if i can flash cm9/10?
Sent from my MB870 using xda premium

What model will it be? The i9100, i9100G or the i9100M/T/P?

If you're talking about the TracFone variant of this phone that is available directly through StraightTalk, then this isn't correct. (if you meant the i9100G. There is no such phone as the i9000G)
The TracFone variant that StraightTalk offers directly is actually model number SGH-S959G. It seems that it is most closely similar to the SGH-I777, and is likely just that; a re-numbered, re-issue of that same phone (for AT&T) specifically for StraightTalk.
If I'm right, and you do end up getting this phone, then do NOT flash anything from the i9100G forum to that device. It will at best, not work and you'll have to re-flash a stock firmware for that model... or at worst, you will brick it.

That was very helpful. I've decided to just get a GSM nexus and toss a similar in it. Thank you so much tougj

I9100p - only difference nfc?

I have just purchased an I9100p. From what I have read the only difference is that it has nfc.
Does this then mean I can use everything made for the regular s2?
Will the s2 Sim unlocker from the market work?
Thanks

I'm on AOKP and carrier billing works fine.
Hmm, I'm assuming that there pretty much the same thing based on what you said. I wonder... I was able to get visual voice mail working but this no dice. What modem are you using?

AOKP is meshed with CM9 so they're like 99% similiar. I'm using the UCLD4 modem. Have you tried clearing the data for play store?
I'll try that now. Should I clear Google framework or is that not necessary?

hmmm strange.... i would say do a full wipe/ reinstall but this isn't a software issue necessarily. i've had this happen before but i'm not sure how i had fixed it.
when is the last time you had it working?
Back on my galaxy note I believe and that was also on cm9.

Not really sure how to help... Have you tried deleting play store and reinstalling it?
Haven't tried that. Will try and get back. Do you know how to disable fast dormancy?

If you are on sprint and you want to brick your phone then by all means flash whatever you want from here, otherwise go to the sprint forum.

1. Im sure it is possible. through apps.
2. If straight talk has the same frequency as this phone, then Yes it would get 3g.
Ohk I'll search more for a thread

T-Mobile got some bands back from the government, seen people reporting 3g speeds with other ATT Samsung phones. Might be worth checking to see what's planned for your area. Or Google T-Mobile bands, they are saying HSPA+ by the end of the year.
Is anybody having issues with root? Every time I flashed the rooted kernel my back and home buttons do not work unless I flash a custom rom is this normal

Wait, wtf is this thread about?! You've got an at&t phone running on T-Mobile... why not just trade the i777 for the T-Mobile variant? Oh, and I believe straight talk is Verizon... could be wrong.
Just curious.

Google... If you're interested. Also, they use multiple carriers towers. If you've got an AT&T or T-Mobile phone, you can find more info in the link below.
I'll stick to AT&T for now.

What if

I was researching the sgs2 skrocket and the original sgs2 and seen the biggest difference is the skyrocket has lte capability. My question what will happen if I flash a skyrocket Rom on my sgh-I77? Will it even boot and what the odds that I can gain lte capabilities on original sgs2?

Do not flash a skyrocket rom on your i777. I'm not gonna flame u or write a huge paragraph about it. Just don't. For numerous reasons. U will not get LTE.
Sent from team Pirate headquarters using Beanacle ROM. As soon as he builds it.
Thank you for the info. I'm not a complet noob,I was asking because I had a captivate and you could flash sg-I9000 Rom and gain a couple feature captivate roms didn't have. I was wishing this be same situation.

the 2 phones arent even similar....
flashing a rom from a completely different device wouldnt automatically give you an LTE radio....that piece of hardware that is NECESSARY for LTE to work.

Search and you will find. I know I did lol
