actually that makes better sense lol contact the seller and see if you can get password if not follow the steps that i said above
I'm guessing you are getting the wifiunlocker screen. Keep entering wrong passwords a lot of times.
yes i have contacted the seller but now he wont answer also wiped everything through cwm and flashed lightning rom through odin. i can connect to wifi but as soon as the screen times out i have the password lock again.
hey guys i just wiped everything again and flashed a rom phone seems to be working fine but i wanted to seeif i could change the lock so i went to security settings and when i go to setup pattern a keyboard pops up and asks for password??
not sure if it will work. but you can try doing a complete wipe - data, cache, dalvik cache and in advanced menu go format - do everything. hoping that u dont have any data in sd card. After that try installing the latest Cynanogen Mod and this being a non samsung ROM there is a chance that it might not have that pattern stored.
But i have flashed ROMs after setting password. after every rom flash the passwords/pattern never worked. u can give anything and it will enter the phone.
I believe you need stock recovery (so stock rom too) and then enter 10 times a wrong password. This should wipe the password (and all other data).

just flash a stock rom over the one thats in the handset..fully wipe everything cache dalvik and data and go into mount store and system data and format it and then reflash the stock rom
im gonna give this a shot thanks ill keep you guys posted i really appreciate the help
go into settings then "location and security".there you will see "screen unlock settings".Choose what ever option you want.Try choosing "none" and see what happens

If the previous owner had set a password, you cannot remove it because it is on EFS partition which is not touched by a wipe/flash. This is part of Samsung's professional grade security. The only way to fix it is to go into Recovery mode, do a wipe (cache + user data), then flash a stock ROM with Odin. Once that done, you go back in Recovery mode and enter several times the same password until the phone will wipe itself. "Unlock With WiFi" feature will turn your phone into a nice paperweight, don't use it. If you try this without wiping/flashing a stock ROM, it will not work.

It will ask forever for a password, which he does not have.
Hi XDA,
Out of the blue i can't copy anything.
Im on stock unrooted international rom. This issue is also know on android world but i couldn't find it here.
Everytime i want to copy a link or text in any app my phone freezes up for five seconds and than the app in which i try to copy force closes.
I already wiped all the apps caches. Wiped the phone's cache. Nothing works except for a full restore. But I prefer not too.
Anyone got this problem too? And a suggestion to fix this would be very welcome.

Has been a few posts regarding this.... mainly in the q and a forum.
2 options are factory reset.... or if your rooted is something you can freeze testservice or something I'll find the link
Happened to me just before i rooted, but i factory reset before i rooted anyway
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1706921
I had this issue when I was on stock. Came on really suddenly, and the paste option refused to appear even if I knew there was something on the keyboard. Massive pain. Unfortunately I never fixed it.
Clipboard working just fine on CM10 'alpha'.

I had this issue and it was just a matter of clearing out the clip board cache to fix it.
Give it a google and there's a few guides.
Well i cleared the clipboard cache and it didnt fix anything.
As far as i know my only options are a hard reset or a method woch requires root acces.
Does rooting your device void your warranty and raise the flash counter?

Noob here, please bear with me:
Updated my I577 to ICS, then rooted it using this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1806118
Worked like a charm, then I picked up ROM Toolbox Lite from PlayStore, which worked fine until I tried to change themes.
Somehow, it got to where boot was stuck at vendor logo. Unfortunately I did not Nandroid backup in time, but I was able to do a Kies backup before rooting, so not worry about the data loss at this time.
Used CWM5, did davlik & cache wipes, factory resets several times, no dice. No stock ROM available so I tried this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30444507&postcount=6
(flashed system tar through ODIN) Hanged at "system.img.ext4".
Here's where I'm at now:
-- Boot looping at second Samsung logo
-- ODIN 1.85 still reads device at port
-- Battery indicator visible when plugged in & power off.
-- Still able to get to cwm recovery 5.5.0.4
So, IS IT SOFT BRICKED OR HARD BRICKED?
Bonus Question: Is it unbrickable?
Any input or answers are GREATLY appreciated, and a fix will most likely be monetarily compensated through Paypal.
Black-wolf, j3r3goss, or shabbypenguin if you see this, your input is certainly appreciated as well!
Its soft bricked. Hard brick means there is no life at all and won't even power on (through software).
Any soft brick is unbrickable, the only nonunbrickable brick is a hard brick (which is rare)

If you can get into Clockwork Mod Recovery still then select wipe data (Do this twice), then select whipe cache (Do this twice), next select factory reset (Do this twice), finally go back and select reboot system. This should unbrick your phone for you

THANKS so far for the input!
I was able to nandroid out of the loop, but now it's back to my original problem--it keeps booting to the "Rethink Possible" AT&T screen & freezing.
Any ideas? I'm thinking I'm gonna be outta luck until I get my hands on a legit Gingerbread Stock tar.
Did you whipe cache, whipe data and preform a factory reset like we suggested? Preforming a nandroid restore won't get you out of your phone hanging on the at&t logo.

Hi thanks for your response to my problem,
yes i flashed a custom recovery from clockwork and i rooted it. i cant get in to recovery mode.
after i did that i tried flashing custom rom like i said before but after reboot it didnt do anything.
i just got the startscreen and found that i could use download mode and odin to flash original rom.
i used 1 click downloader from Odin and it started to recover my rom,but at the end it stalled.
after that happened i couldnt do anything anymore.
i thought it was totally dead but i just saw that when i connect to my comp it says unknown device..
im an idiot for trying this stuff without the knowledge..it looked easy in descriptions
but i found different descriptions how to do it..
i cant put links in my posts yet cause i am new..
i used the 1st one.. but after that didnt work i found that other 1 and that is little different...

I did all that, but the one thing that finally nailed it was formatting my internal SD. I also formatted my external one, but I don't even think I put it back in the phone.
So, if anybody's reading this in the future, and you're still stuck after wiping the cache, wiping Davlik & performing factory reset,
FORMAT THE SD!
And flash this through Odin: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31765274&postcount=59

Hey, total noob here but Im having problems with my Galaxy S4 so I was on this thread looking for a fix.I have an AT&T Galaxy s4 (SGH-I337) and I just rooted my phone and installed clockworkmod recovery. I went to backup and then when I rebooted it freezes at the AT&T logo. Ive wiped data/factory reset, wiped caches, etc ive done everything and it freezes at the same spot. I have no ROMS as I had just rooted, just stock 4.2.2. Then I saw a vid on how to unroot/unbrick and it was working perfectly until it went to reboot.(I downloaded 4.2.2 firmware for my model phone) I used ODIN and it said pass then when it was rebooting it froze in the exact same spot (also instead of the normal bootup it still had the "custom" and an unlocked lock that Ive had since I rooted) and now I cant enter recovery mode. It starts booting but then freezes when the blue letters come on! Now even when I try to turn it on normally it freezes at the samsung logo (with unlocked lock and "custom")Please help! I would greatly appreciate it!
Hi everybody
So today (27.10.) I finally got a Jelly Bean update for my international and unbranded Finnish Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300). I updated my phone via Kies and it updated successfully. Phone booted normally, but there was little (actually, pretty big) problem: there's no notification/status bar!
I tried to open it with an app that opens it but it still didn't appear. I rebooted and still nothing and I also searched from Google and XDA but didn't find anyone with same problem, so could you be kind and help me if you know anything that might help (without wiping the phone). I would appreciate any kind of suggestion.
Thanks

I haven't rooted so I don't have CWM. In my default recovery I can only wipe cache and it didn't help
Any ideas what I can do without rooting?
in my sgs3 with official jellybean update i dont have a startup animation

After flashing a couple of Roms I found my recovery i made of the stock Rom now says android is updating everytime i turn it on.
are using TWRP and wiped Davlec cashe but now restart and upgrading again..
started with about 43 updates and this time after davlesc reset is 80 updates..
Ive only ever seen this when installing Gapps to a new build it does it once..
This recovery never had Gapps on it and shouldnt be doing this?
Ive searched but cant find specific advice on the S3..
Anybody can help?
Thanks..

This is because your cache is being rebuilt on every reboot. Most likely from restoring a stock rom after using custom roms. This is never a good idea. If you need to return to stock you should do it by Odin. Stock roms do not back up/restore properly.
so this only happens after you wipe Dalvik? That's what's supposed to happen
No its been doing it every time i turn phone on for ages.
Just i read somewhere to wipe davlec should fix it.but then doubled the amount of updates after...
anyway i think will re flash rom from odin again should be better.
was just wondering if there was something simple i didnt do..but i guess its cause i came from non stock rom before..
Thanks for answers..
Are you sure that somewhere in twrp settings or anywhere else that you haven't set the device to wipe dalvik on each boot?

This has nothing to do with the issue. The issue is that the delvic cache is being deleted on reboot. A full wipe and reflash should fix him/her right up.
