[Q] a sigh of disbelief - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

i just got this phone used in immaculate condition just a few days ago.
i was browsing through its internet and i was mesmerized by how beautiful the screen was.
i didn't realize that time has passed by so fast that i am already late at school.
realizing i have to get in class on time. i am in a hurry--put the phone in my pocket and hop in my car.
i heard a crashing--shattering noise.
i realize something has gone missing, and something went horribly wrong.
i looked at the floor with a horror on my face. as the reality kicks in--with a sigh of disbelief, the phone meets the floor... :crying:

Whoops, that sucks. Try this thread.

Ouch. This is why spending the extra $4 on a case from ebay is recommended. After dropping so many phones, I don't take the chance anymore. Also if you decide to sell it, it will look as good as the day you bought it. It sends chills down my spine thinking of putting a naked phone in my pocket.

Yeah, I always have a case on. I used to use tpu cases, I've come to like my otterbox commuter case. Sorry to the OP for sure though.

Case is good idea, along with insurance from carrier ..

I have never used a case in my life. I have a little dent on the bottom rear cover. I have dropped it dozens of times, it just never fell face down onto a point. I must have a horseshoe up my a** I dunno, lol. The build quality seems the same as the original EVO, atleast from my mishaps.

[Q] Adhesive along frame?

Hi there,
I got my Nook tablet today, and almost immediately noticed a fair amount of adhesive at the left bottom corner of the frame, and a bit further up the left side. I read that the inside of the device contains large amounts of adhesive, but is it normal for it to actually show outside the frame? I took a picture of it:

I'd try to clean it out of there, but it is rather rough stuff and I don't want to work it around too hard.
Thanks, Nir
Wow, that is completely unacceptable. You should exchange it immediately if it came that way.

Absolutely agree with Phonoob. Go get that thing exchanged asap!
Yea ide return it.

My thought too. Back it goes I guess, thanks for chiming in!
I'd say return it as well, but if you wanted to just clean it use Goo Gone or even lighter fluid.

And catch fire! Read the fine print. No harsh chemical should be used to clean product. Just return/exchange for new unit.
Dead Pixel
Take it back. Mine had a dead pixel or screen imperfection right in the middle and I took it back. Exchange was easy.

[Q] Teardown walkthrough for replacing the fascia and/or housing?

Is there an instructional teardown of the EVO 3D anywhere out there?
Sprint just told me that my phone has no insurance despite the fact that I've ALWAYS gotten insurance on my phones (they did this with my OG Evo when I first got it as well)
I dropped the phone and the corner of the fascia became separated from the main housing. Not a huge problem, the screen and all other hardware is 100%. The problem is, when I have it in my pocket, the separated area snags on everything and bends more and more as the days go on.
I took it to Sprint who "fixed" it for free despite my lack of insurance. Their "fix" was to apply some gasket tape to the affected area and hand it back to me. So now it's still separated, but there's some sticky gasket in the gap to attract all kinds of fun little particles.
I just want to order a fascia from Amazon or eBay and replace it my damned self.
Any guides?
Search amazon or google for the parts. When my screen broke I remember seeing the phones housing for sale too wich also included tools. As for instructions, there should be plenty on youtube. Hope it helps

This is the best video I could find. Post some pictures of the damage, If need be I can tear mine down(I've done it before) and take pics for you.
Actually just needed the bezel off. I thought the digitizer was part of that component. All's going well now:

Nice Bamboo Case for the Note 3

I got my bamboo case. REALLY love these cases. they are not the most durable.
if you drop the phone onto a hard surface it WILL break the case but it will also do its job and save your phone. the price you pay for gorgeous wood
this one ended up being fantastic. great quality finish and fit. I will probably order another as a spare.
Onto the pictures!

lowered it to $15. soon as I get paid ordering another as a spare. I really like this one. almost as much as I like my UAG.
$16 isn't so bad

DIY Band

Since my job is a bit more physical than most. One thing that I ran across is the occasional tap on the Original wrist band that just makes it come off.
Solving that is all of an $8 leather cuff from Amazon and 2 short cuts (from a $200 knife).

Guys with larger wrists, there's not much chance of this coming off. You can also always buy a strip of leather yourself and a few grommet/snaps and make one.
Hey, that thing cuts like butter and is 9 inches of OTF beauty!
As for the mod, this of course renders the heartrate sensor useless, but it looks much better anyway

A public congratulation to myself: S6 bought yesterday; screen shattered today

I guess what I'm trying to say to myself is, "Way to fcuking go, dude! You saw right through history and knew that this little S6 honey was gonna get the shock treatment sooner or later, so why wait, right?"
And bonus points to me for having managed to do so in a year-end review winning style, no doubt in the ever popular, "Whaaa? Is that dude fcuking retarded?" category. Pros: duuuuude, you instantly made retarded look like "advanced clever."
Cons: you did so in a comically regressive mannner. While collecting local geo-data and sensing near-surface disturbances just below your public viewing area, you somehow were able to determine, unlike anyone post=hoc could, that ejecting the shiny new Samsung S6 past the mat and onto the nearby cement floor would be best for it, especially if done so screen down, as though continuing to rest upon your lap during a period of increased disturbances would be a big mistake though it had done so until then quite comfortably, much like a convenience store burrito an hour earlier was a big mistake that had rested in place quite comfortably until then.
Or as I believe I heard you prase yourself in a summary of events just after The Great Ejection, "Whaaa? Dude! Arrrrrrghhhhh! Are you fcuking retarded???"

Did you purchase with a credit card offering extended or no-fault warranty? If so, you might be in luck.
Can you retroactively purchase a service plan, and then make a claim say a week from now? If so, then you should be in good shape.
You have options -- investigate. I've availed myself of both these examples in the past.
