Clockworkmod not installing correctly - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
Sorry if I am asking a silly question that has been answered before (I have searched for answers but not found what I am looking for).
I have tried to install clockworkmod through Odin. I followed the Ultimate Noobs guide to the letter and although Odin shows a Pass, I don't get any install text on my S3, and when it reboots it just goes straight back to Android. If I then boot to whichever options screen it is, I believe it is just the basic Android one as opposed to the CWM one. I'm not showing any icons for superuser or CWM in my apps screen either.
I am a noob at this as I have come from an iPhone, but any help, or pointing me to a previously helpful post would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!!

Did you miss this part of the guide?
- NOTE: Sometimes the device does *not* boot into recovery mode and root your device. Just do the entire procedure again if this happens. If it still will not install root and such, make sure that in Odin "Auto Reboot" is not checked. Then after flashing, pull the battery, and boot with VolUp+Home+Power button to boot into recovery manually. This will start the install process.

You're a legend!
I pulled the battery and rebooted previously but I must have missed the button holding at that point -_-
Sorry for being such a tool and thank you for your assistance! =D

Accidentally flashed the wrong clockworkmod recovery to my Galaxy Note

Hi,
I accidentally flashed the wrong clockworkmod onto my phone (brushed the wrong phone type). I'm still in the booted up phone and am afraid to reboot it. What's the best way to fix this screwup? Ideally, i'd like to either flash stock recovery without undoing phone settings or install the proper clockworkmod recovery, which I can't find on the phone list. Here are my phone specs:
I'm on android 2.3.6 kernel 2.6.35.11, build GINGERBREAD.UCLA1.
Thanks!
Battery pull, go back to download mode, flash the correct CWM. The new/correct one should overwrite the old/incorrect one.

Noticed the "CWM" thread above. Downloaded the ZIP file and installed with Odin. How would I verify that I now have the correct one installed?
Yes Flash with Odin. I am using Beta3 and all seems well with it. No FC's as of yet.

Can you tell me where to find the right one? There doesn't seem to be much on CWM for the Note on here. Would I just flash with Odin?

I DID flash the recovery-i717-cwm-b3.tar file. The I tried to execute a backup from the app - it was so fast, i could tell it didn't work. I rebooted the phone and used the menu system in recovery mode to do the backup. I also noticed that the recovery "menu" was much shorter than the one in my Skyrocket. Is this CWM ROM just far enough along in development to work properly with the app? If this is the case, what functionality should I avoid using in the app?
John
Most if not all of the functions work great so far. No FC here. Remember, Its still in beta stages but its coming along.
-On another NOTE, Samsung goes 5.3"
Wrong CWM recovery on LG Vortex
I used ROM Manager and flashed CWM Recovery 5.0.2.7 to my Vortex running 2.2.1....now I am stuck in recovery after attempting to flash CM7, but the Home button (or any other button) will not work to select the highlighted option. I am doing research to see if I can find some kind of option to fix my mess up but it is not looking good. I had to take out the battery, hold volume up and power and home while i plugged in the charger just to get into recovery because i was stuck on the splash screen. If anyone can provide assistance on this I would be very appreciative.

I am not sure hat it is appropriate to pedal your wares here.
this is a free and open source community. I will not follow your link, so I am not sure whether you are charging for your services or not. but soliciting your products here I think is against the forum rules.
I will look for a moderator to address this issue in a more official manner. if I am wrong I apologize, but that is how I interpret your post

The thread topic looks as though it is related to my situation as I, as well, flashed the wrong recovery, I guess I was confused. I apologize. You being a senior member, I would expect that you could direct me, as I am a junior member. I was unable to find my device in the forums, so I could not find a better place to post, but I will take it elsewhere.

no apology needed
due to many different variances and carriers of this device, it is just a bad habit to get into o follow threads for a wrong device. even flashing files from different variances can be catastrophic.
may I ask or suggest maybe there are multiple carriers for your device and simply have a different model# ? that would at least get you closer to the center of the dart board.
although XDA is high on my list as far as trusted developmental websites, there are several other forum communities. maybe you could run a search for that if you haven't?
I will help if I can and plenty others will. again, even though problem may be similar, the solution may not and I am sure you know these device aren't cheap. I would hate for you to take your phone o beyond repair.
good luck my friend

yeah i have downloaded it.
Now what.
I can't make out what to do in that.
When i select list of devices, my device is not there
when iselect last option 'device not listed above' it asks 'xt1033 is not supported, have you installed a clockworkmod based recovery manually?'
if i select no- its says 'sorry until xt1033 is supported..............'
yes and select the one - 'rom manager has been set up to use your existing recovery installation.'

10.1v Cyanogenmod

Hi,
I want to try install the new Cyanogenmod on my Tab, read a bit about it, and tried last night to get it going. many different forums and steps were tried... none worked? Thing is, I read a lot of terms and stuff, but I'm not sure what they all mean.
My route took me through Android SDK's for drivers, Samsung drivers with escape??? no clue what that was?? Nvidia drivers? Then tried to use a program called Clockworkmod? Confusing, especially since nothing seemed to actually do anything?
What is it that I need to do exactly?
What i can say is that when I boot my Tab up, there is an unlocked padlock at the bottom of the screen.
I have the latest Cyanogenmod for my Tab "p3" downloaded, as well as the Google Apps.
Cheers

You need to use Odin to flash Clockworkmod recovery onto your tablet.
Then you need to download the p4wifi (if yours is wifi) edition of CM9
Then boot clockworkmod recovery and flash CM9 and then Google Apps
ok, but with more in depth steps please, i got a better idea now though!! thanks

Root http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-tab-10-1-root-clockworkmod-recovery-50799/ (stop after step 12.)
CM9 Flashable Zip http://download.cyanogenmod.com/get/jenkins/4709/cm-9-20120720-NIGHTLY-p4wifi.zip
Get into recovery mode, go to install zip from SD, select the zip /\ hit yes. Reboot.
Ok, no joy,
What I seem to have:
A working fastboot, fastboot devices does list my device. And when I try flash something via Odin, my Tab says "flashing mbr to device" so my action on my pc does initiate something on the tab. yet it stops there, at the flashing mbr to device screen. It does not start the recovery img.
A working adb, adb reboot recovery does reboot my tablet, but it still does not boot into recovery. It has a android sign, with a yellow exlamation mark over it.
I've tried to flash skitzandroid, clockworkmod, and the tabrooteasy one. I just cant seem to get this thing rooted?
Is there something I'm missing?
I do have an unlocked padlock on my screen when i boot it up.
He has a p7100 why are you guys sending him to flash p4wifi Wtf!

[SOLVED]S2 bricked?

Hello, sorry for being dumb, but this is the case.
I rooted my phone, everyone was ok, but I wanted to install a custom kernel, so I wanted to install a custom recovery, so I dowloaded ROM manager from the market and installed it, I selected to install a custom recovery, everything went ok, so I pressed to boot into recovery, and that's where it gets stuck on the S2 logo, won't go past that.
What are my options?
Back to stock via Odin - clean slate & you can then 'start again' (re-root, reinstall custom rom/kernel whatever).
Don't use Rom Manager with the SGS2 at all; it's notorious for doing what you've just experienced (you don't need it - you have CWRecovery for all your flashing/backup/restore/etc needs).
P.S - Bricked phones are exactly that; bricked. They don't boot. If a phone boots, it ain't bricked. There's no such thing as 'hard' or 'soft' bricked. It either tis or t'aint.
Thanks for replying, and good to hear that there is some hope, can you refer to any guide/tutorial of what to do exactly, I don't want to stumble upon something wrong and make things worse.

Power off. Press Volume Down + Power and it'll boot into download mode (let's hope so), and flash back to Stock 4.1.2
Then flash Siyah Kernel. It includes SuperUser and CWM.

[Q] Verizon GS4 Stuck in Odin Mode

I rooted my Verizon GS4 using the saferoot method and was successful. When I tried to install TWRP Recovery using GooManager, it rebooted to a screen with the Android logo that said it could not reboot normally. Is there any way to fix this?

Every day someone creates a thread like this.
Use Odin to restore to whatever stock build you were on, then start your research by reading this thread.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2606501
Search the forums. All of the questions you're going to ask have already been answered.
Yes it's fixable. First you must read every stickied thread possible, then find where the search button is. This is posted almost daily so it's out there. You can't flash a custom recovery on me7 or higher, safestrap is the only option. To get back your stock recovery you'll have to flash one of the stock images via Odin . until your recovery is back You can power your phone off in the meantime use the buttons to boot into download mode, cancel it and your phone will boot normally.
READ AND SEARCH BEFORE YOU DESTROY A 600$ device. Not trying to be rude but 5 mins of reading would of saved you a couple hours of troubleshooting/fixing.
Hit thanks if I helped you out. Doing a little bit of reading goes a long way. Sent via tapatalk.
Thank you! This isn't my first time rooting my Droid but it is the first time I've encountered a problem, so I'm glad I'll be able to get some help with it.
So none of the things at GalaxyS4Root would have worked? (I'd post the link but the forums won't let me)

Rooted, Unrooted, Normal, Stock, I dont know what is my phone?

Hi, I am Asbaat and this is my first post in this forum. Actually I've heard a lot about this forum and also whenever I had any question about a mobile or a tablet, this site was the best. Ok, the story starts 2 years back when galaxy s3 was just launched and I got my garnet Red phone from France. It was awesome and like everybody knows, after some time, galaxy laggs, stucks, bla bla bla. Same happened with me. I heard that rooting it and installing some files helps speed it up just like jailbreaking an iOS device. I searched some sites and got Odin and a custom recovery (something like that) I followed the instructions carefully and the rooting process started. But the rooting didn't complete properly and the phone turned off and Odin crashed. Now I have supersu and clockwerk(something like that) installed on my mobile but root checker says that the phone is not rooted. They do not uninstall and super su when opened says that binary not installed. when I click ok, the app closes. I am completely helpless and I seek your help so can any technician help me about it. I want to either root it completely or either unroot it completely, Im stuck in the middle. Thanks, I just made my account on this forum so I don't know whether I posted it in the right section. This seemed fine to me. Thanks a lot!
Regards,
Asbaat

Boot to recovery, go to install zip, navigate to where you downloaded to it. usually sdcard/download and choose it to install. go back to main menu and choose reboot to finish then try reloading super su.

I flashed that super su update thingy you said. It made the supersu problem fine. It downloaded an update, then I uninstalled it and finished the root completely, (This made my device unrooted). Then I again rooted it by a website, used Odin and WOALA! IT WORKED! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! MAN!!!!!!!
