Hi Vinny,
Try using Imediashare. It allows to stream media online contents (like youtube, ustream, etc), to any DLNA supported device, through your LAN WIFI connection.
Let me know if it helps you.

You can do that with the Media Remote app.
Vinny,
I think maybe what your looking for is a way to watch tv/video/music on your phone from your computer? If so, checkout www.playon.tv . I have used it for about a year now and love it. Setting up router very easy for watching things remote and it has a free trial. Give it a whirl.

Thanks to a tweet from Kmob, I just found out about SubSonic.
Its an open source media server that runs on windows/linux/mac and creates a very clean web interface for accessing all your media you have stored on your home network.
I have a windows box that I use as my media storage server. I installed subsonic in about a minute, configured it in under 3 (including setting up the paths to my specific media folders, and opening a port on my router)
They have an android app, installed it on my new atrix... setup the app to point to my router's dyndns address with the specific port I setup and BAM, done.
you select the media item you want to play via the very clean app interface, then it opens in a browser window showing a flash player. Make the player full screen and you are set.
From start to finish, I was watching House in less than 7 minutes.

Correct me if im wrong, but isnt DLNA for getting media stored on your phone to display on your tv? This lets you play media stored on your pc on your phone... On wifi or even 3g

if by plug you mean trying to pass on information about a program that I found and thought was useful to me, then sure... I guess I'm plugging this
But if by "plug" you are insinuating that I am some how affiliated with the software or might profit from telling people about it, (here, I was going to say something about "plugging" and "your mom", but instead i'll assume you were just trying to be witty, and say...) you are mistaken.

nice reply and subsonic seems to be pretty amazing so far. Have not tried over 3g yet but if thats good then id say this is a good find.
I use Plex for all my streaming needs. Works well for $5!
windows and mac servers are avail
Does it have any authentication? If it does I might give it a try. I have been struggling to find a good streaming app with security. I have tried orb, plex and several others. Orb seemed to work ok as long as you dont have a large library. Plex didn't see alot of my files because they didn't meet its naming convention. Plex also had no easy way to set up security.
I miss Airvideo. It was and has been my only regret about leaving the Iphone.

I am trying to use DLNA via a Windows 7 pc. Video shows up fantastic, but no audio, I hope I don't have to transcode the audio, some of them are AC3 and DTS.
Can Subsonic handle that?

Apologies, I just briefly checked your other posts and came to the wrong conclusion. I've actually picked this up based on this thread and I'm enjoying it. I had the same issue with video but no audio, and it handles it great. Thanks for the heads up.
p.s. my mom would like to know when you're calling her back.
So I tried this and over all am happy with it.
I have been tweaking the settings to get things working well over 3g.
My friend on sprint 4G seems to have better results than me.

Actually, atrix can be acted as DLNA client which can play media stored in DLNA server. I use PS3 Media server on my mini mac to streaming avi files to my PS3 and Atrix. Only problem is I cannot watch some of avi files because of compatibility issue with codec - Atrix will say "not supported media type" sometimes.

Correction noted, thank you.
Subsonic can install on a mac, and takes very little ram, so there probably wouldn't be much harm in running both (PS3 MS and subsonic) on your mac mini.
The real time transcoding SS does should eliminate any chance of codec compatibility issues.
I can vouch for SubSonic.. been using it for the past month, streams videos FLAWLESSLY. Way better then AirVideo for the iPhone, and a cinch to set up. In order to use the domain from another PC you have to donate, but it works for free streaming to the Android..... love this app so far.
Now if only Android can get the new version of iMobsters that was pulled from the appstore, and NHL 2K11, only then I can finally sell my iPhone 3GS.
Is this the same as Using the Open Source VLC Player to stream over http or rtsp? I'm using this now, and it works awesome...it converts and streams every file type VLC can play...with no buffering time over Wifi...and bearable buffering over 4G. But, here's the catch for me. You have to have VLC running all the time on PC side, with web interface enabled. So it it's not, I have to log in, remote control computer open VLC.
Is this way an application, or just a process running in the background on PC side? I'm sure I got some of the terminology confused a bit, as I'm not an expert...hopefully it's understandable though.
You may host, organize, and broadcast your video and audio to your website, apps, and other platforms without difficulty with Muvi Flex's audio streaming servers.
So I went to best buy to test out the tab and I was looking for some movie streaming apps and couldnt find any like the ones I have on my phone? Can this not stream any movies yet?

Amazon Prime works for streaming movies and whatever else they offer. I've only dabbled there, but the first 10 minutes of Highlander came through great on the tab.

+1000 for this. since getting my android phone, I have tried various methods for streaming from my home server. my buddy has the air media for his icrap which made me search even harder for a solution on my tablet. plex super easy to setup, I had an issue with port forward but that was because my router and UPnP would not let go of the port to enable the port forwarding.
all around great app for streaming.

I looked at it in the market and it says stream music nothing about video. Am I blind?
Also can anyone compare this to playon? Mainly the ability to rewind or fast forward the stream because playon can't do this and according to playons admins on their forum android is not capible or some crap which I'm sure is not true because Netflix and YouTube can manage to do it.

thanks man I had mobo but never actually opened it up. Your post made me look into it again and when I opened mobo it downloded the codec needed. Nice! now movie stream and tv stream work great. Too bad its unsupported for updates anymore.
Loved these aps and with a mega video login I was golden.
For streaming your own stuff:
UpnPlay app to stream Video and a videoplayer app for playback.
Firgured out I can attach a HDD to my router and fire up a router mediaserver - accessible from everywhere. But beware, your Server/Router MUST support video streaming else it's a no go. And don't forget to turn upnp on.
You can also use Twonky as a server tool for windows/linux.
For 720p you don't need a speedy WLAN, 2mb/s are enough. For 1080p it's ~3-3,5mb/s. So every NAS capable router should do it.

so, there used to be a program called ORB that allowed you to stream audio/video/pictures from your home network devices to your evo4g; they stopped updating it awhile ago, and, it no longer works with 2.3.3
has anyone found a system/program, that allows you to stream stuff from your home DLNA compliant sources, to the EVO3d?
preferably, via 3g/4g, so it would work when you are away from your home wifi..

Yes, it comes preinstalled on the EVO.. its called media server... When you click on gallery, you can touch the top bar and pick media server and it will search for available content...

hey had this problem a while back, after a lot of experimenting with different apps, it turns out none of the apps could successfully "beam" a mkv file, even if both the phone and xbox can support the file.
The workaround that i finally got to was to host a media server from the phone, and access the mkv file via the server. APP: Pixel-DMS.
Works great on my xbox !! should work on the ps3 as well

any suggestions? thanks. :fingers-crossed:
I use PS3MediaServer in conjunction with Serviio to steam to my Xbox and phone.

2. Stream to gaming console. For streaming to android, download Skifta or ServiGo on Play. You can manage your Serviio console from your droid using ServiiDroid.

PS3 is not able to play MKV natively without transcoding. You must use a transcoding server like PS3 Media Server, Serviio, etc.
Odp: Upnp/dlna Android app capable of streaming mkv
Yes i know, i am using media serwer on my laptop and i stream mkv files, however when i stream movies, my laptop is over heating and shut down (is hot as hell) after an hour or so. Laptop is dual core 1.6 and the thermal paste on cpu is probably out. So i wanted to stream those movies via note 2. I thought there was an application with internal transcoding possibility like it's in media share on pc. So is it possible or not?

Hello Community!
I use video-streaming via AllShare to my Samsung TV. It works just great. Atm i am using the AllShare Cast Dongle by Samsung.
The problem is while streaming i can't use my mobile because the videoplayer for example has to be in the foreground. As soon as I switch to another program like Taptu the video stops streaming.
Is there a possibility to use video-streaming in the background just as the musicplayer does? Because while streaming music I can use my mobile as I want.
Thanks for any help.
MX Player supports Background Play for videos. But for audio only :/
Nope there isn't as far as I know. I also got the Dongle and it mirrors the screen 1:1.
Maybe it would work if you pop out the video and use it as overlay, but not sure.
