Samsung's drivers are needed for adb to work.
Here's the drivers:

[Q] Unable to connect Galaxy Tab 10.1 to Windows 7 or OSX

I have been attempting to connect my Galaxy Tab 10.1 to a Windows 7 (64 bit) PC and an OSX (Snow Leopard) Mac Mini to no avail.
I have downloaded every driver I could possibly find, uninstall, restart, install driver, restart and still nothing. I attempted two versions of Kies, even installing the driver through Kies. I have updated the galaxy tab using the August 5th OTA (United States) update but it still refuses to work.
Does anyone have suggestions?
Here try this: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/GT-P7510MAYXAB
It will provide download links for Kies 2.0 and the proper drivers for both mac and pc. Just click on where it says "software" right next to "manuals" on the website.

This is where I have been downloading the software + drivers.
I also tried uninstalling all AntiVirus programs. I also tried seeing if I could push to device in Eclipse, but no-go.
After spending some time with Samsung Customer Service, they decided to let me send it in for repair. They provide the shipping label (UPS), so I guess it's not that bad.
I'm using Win 7 64 bit and I can't seem to connect via Kies either, I've installed version 2 and the usb drivers and when I plug the Tab in via USB it pops up a 'usb debugging' message.
Surely this is just a software issue and shouldn't require the tab to be sent back to Samsung?
Edit:
I've just got it working, disable USB debugging did the trick. Info found here http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1/373613-galaxy-tab-10-1-cant-connect-kies.html
Any way to use Usb mass storage on a Mac? I can adb push, and use kies, but no USB mass storage.

Samsung Galaxy S II Drivers

hello
i want Samsung Galaxy S2 Drivers for windows 7
i don't want download kies because my internet is slow
It should work fine without installing any drivers on Windows 7.
You should enable the USB Debugging mode from Settings -> Applications -> Development. That way it won't try to connect in Kies mode and Windows 7 should have proper drivers for it.

Galaxy SII USB drivers
Hello,
I installed the drivers from the above post (Samsung-Galaxy-S-USB-Driver-for-Windows-x86-Download-96692 ....) on a W7 PC and I keep getting the message from the OS that the drivers could not be installed correctly. If I go to the Device Administration screen in the control panel, when I connect the phone I get "SAMSUNG mobile USB Composite Device" with a warning sign and when I double click on it it says Code 37, Windows cannot initialize the device controller for this HW.
Same thing with XP in another PC.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!! Guido.

Samsung Kies 2.3.3.12085_7_5 work with Windows 8 9200...:good:
I'm using windows 8 x64, I had no trouble installing the drivers.. I just put the phone in download mode and connected the usb cable and the drivers were automatically installed.

Hello all.
I too have Windows 8 RTM 9200 x64.
Kies 2.3.3.12085_7 INSTALLS fine, and the app RUNS fine.
Also, when I put the phone in download mode, Win8 DOES automatically find a device, but....
1. Kies can never find the phone (obviously not when in download, I mean in normal mode). Just keeps telling me to turn off debugging (which is not on!). Tells me: "Reconnect the device in Samsumg Kies (PC Studio) mode. Current connection mode not supported by Kies. Check USB settings."
2. Odin 1.85, 1.87 and 3.04 can never see the phone in download mode. Just nothing as if not connected.
For you guys who have it working in Win8, can you confirm that Kies can actually SEE the phone (running the app is the easy bit!), and that if you go into download mode, that Odin can see the device?
I can pass things thru on a virtual USB port to a Virtual Machine of Win7, but cant never actually get any functional use in (host) Win8.
Thanks.
EDIT: I downloaded Kies from Samsung page and it seems to be very slightly newer than mine, now version 2.3.3.12085_7_5. NOW, Odin CAN see the device in download mode which is what I really wanted for flashing purposes. Kies itself now no longer instantly complains about the USB setting, but iinstead just spins its wheel and never connects. But Kies stinks and never use it anyway, so not too fussed. Really just wanted Odin so that's cool.
Downloaded THIS Kies: http://www.samsungapps.com/about/onPc.as
Can you extract the USB Driver msi from the instllation and upload it here? Thanks!\
Edit:
Found it!
http://www.mediafire.com/?4y1a2opm8o3ihfx
Now my Note is back under my Windows 8 64x RTM!
Interesting!
Your mediafire download LOOKS like the same version that my Kies installed, but when I installed your version over my pre-existing one, now Kies can see my phone!
Excellent!
Thanks!
Hope this all helps someone else too.
I ran Windows 8 for exactly 2 days. I ain't gonna touch that with a 10ft pole ever again. Went back to Win7.
Lemme just tell ya: Windows 8 sucks big time. It's so bad it both sucks and blows at the same time.

Using a 4 year old Dell Latitude XT2 that originally came with Vista on it with a fresh install of Windows 8. Love the device. Multi touch screen works right away and all features work great. Having a blast with Windows 8. Just need the right hardware and it is a perfect operating system. Best of both worlds, tablet and laptop.
There's no need to install Kies to use the phone as mass storage.
Only if you want to flash things though Odin.
I'm using Windows 8 Pro 64bits and I can confirm this. :good:
Windows update Will do the job.
Connect the phone and then search on Windows update.

You don't say what the driver problem is so I am guessing here, if you have Kies installed uninstall it then download an up to date version, if you don't have Kies installed then install it, this will give you the most up to date drivers

Yes, I have latest version of kies. I am rather trying to unsfoft brick my phone with OneClick. The error massage I get is that the drivers are not loaded. On the following screen where I should pick the Samsung Composite Universal USB driver, I doesn't appear in the list provided. I am stuck there because from there nothing happens. The software just stops.

[Q] Windows 8.1 comparability with S4?

I recently changed my laptop to yoga pro 2
and this computer has windows 8.1 pre-installed.
my verizon s4 was already rooted and I was able to odin using this laptop.
Now, I'm trying to re-root, but saferoot is not responding to my s4.
For the phone, usb debugging is enabled and for the laptop, samsung usb driver is installed through kies.
Is 8.1 not comparable with S4 or am I missing something?

I think all drivers installed automatically for me on 8.1, and adb/odin worked fine.
On 7, my S4 wasn't recognised other than MTP/PTP while on and Samsung drivers did nothing, but this worked perfectly: https://github.com/koush/UniversalAdbDriver
Yeah you should be able to just install the drivers and it will work not sure if the link just posted will work but if not there not hard to find. Just google s4 root and any number of links will have the drivers on hand.
