I've installed the dark knight custom room and wonder which of the htc system apps I can delete without complications. for example facebook, twitter etc.
It would be nice to have this list. For now, I saw that HTC checkin service can be removed. I'll try it, and give feedback of the results.

Trial and error was my method at first, didn't go very well....... then I looked at a system removal app from the market (can't remember which one) which highlighted the ones that are safe in green and unsafe in red. It helped me a lot.

This link talk about these barebones in CM7, but I'm pretty sure this also applies on the ROM you're using.

Good luck.
I'm losing my mind trying to track down the process causing repetitive ads in my notification tray. Things for new improved market and other randomness. Has any one had this issue and what is causing it? Only started after I updated to HC. Watched running process to monitor but no suspicious activity. Running stock non root.

Never heard of that before, but any app can post notifications. My guess is you have a bad ad supported application installed. Carefully check your apps. Uninstall any suspicious apps and check your results. When you find the culprit, give it a terrible review in the market and write the developer a nasty gram.
Is there a way to ID the process utilizing the notification tray?

I've monitored my system through 3 diff apps with no leads.

I don't know of anyway that you can monitor which apps are sending notifications other that using the PC development environment which would be far more trouble to set up than just uninstalling apps one by one.
*%?%?$*'&%# i hate ads for stuff idk! Damn notification hijackers! Ok well definitely posting what I find when done. Thanks

Virus scan?
I remember reading somewhere else there are several apps known for such notification spam. "Music Junk" is one of them, don't remember the rest. I also remember reading that there is an app that lets you control all the permissions (including sending notifications) of most apps. Don't remember the name of that program though.
I would suggest removing most of the extra stuff that you have loaded, and then reinstalling them one by one allowing some time in between to check if you get spammed.
Let us know if you track it down, any info will helps others.
Lol congrats on having airpush infecting your system. try doing a
Code:
pskill | grep airpush
and see if anything comes up. I doubt it, but it's worth a shot. Not sure if busybox has pskill though...hmm, we shall find out!
I hat the same problem with a mp3 download app!Uninstalled it and it was gone.Nothing to do with the HC upgrade i think.

No, you're right. This has nothing to do with Honeycomb. It's an app that the OP installed as several posters have mentioned.
Yes, as Indirect said: this is called airpush.
Try this app: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.brosmike.airpushdetector
OP, do you have screenshots? Maybe someone has the same app, and gets the same notifications that can help?
I hate random notifications too, especially the Glu games letting me know there are sales on crap I don't want.

The app that you're thinking of is called "Permissions" available in the Android market. I can't remember the app that checks just for the air stuff but I believe the logging test app (developed here at XDA) will find that. If you like it you can buy a license on the Android market to support the developer, full details in the thread just search XDA for it.

I have spied an puzzle app in the market called Galaxy, which reviewers say forces ads into your notification bar... You don't have that by any chance installed?

I am rooted and running stock GB. All of a sudden, my Market App disappeared. To fix the problem, I downloaded and installed Market_3.4.4; however, the icon does not appear in my "Applications". Any help would be appreciated.
I'm going take guess and say that you are looking for Google Play. I'm assuming your market dissapeared because it updated to the new "market". I could be wrong though.

Find the phone for 'Play Shop'
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S A510e using XDA
That would be because the market no longer exists under that name. It is now the Google Play Store. Search for the Play Store app.
You guys, and gals, always come through. Thanks for your help.
This. Is absolutely hilarious. You know when it updates it even pops a screen up and asks u to click to continue? So instead of googling any kind of answer your first thought was "omfg my market! I should post about this! Who need to search when i can have other people do it for me! scoooore !"

Hello,
My son loves playing on my phone as well as my wife's. Issue is he's two and a half years old....
Needless to say you'll find new apps installed via ads in games, random messages sent to people, things moved and or deleted. We've since put locks on our phones but that's not really a solution as then you need to unlock it for him and he still has full access to everything (last time my wife found out she had 20 new friend requests on Facebook lol)
My question is.. is there eight a good home launcher that you can make a second user with limited app access (only ones you selected to allow) or a ROM with a similar feature built in that works with galaxy s devices (mines a gt-i9000t and hers is a vzw fascinate)
Or, any other app suggestions that default to a kid mode unless you unlock/exit the app to get full access to the device?
Mine is currently running aokp, hers is on the stock vzw firmware but I have no problem doing a rom and/or rooting if required.
Thanks!

Okay, on further searching I saw an app name perfect applock or something along those lines mentioned, will be giving that a try

4.1 was also found to have some code for 'user' logins as well (so in sometime this wiml hopefully be supported in an official capacity)

Set up a second launcher just for him and put the apps he can use on the desktop and delete the shortcut for the app drawer
You can also set up a pin to download from the play store now i think.

HTC and Sony are running a promotion for HTC devices running JB 4.1 and Sense 4+, giving out four free games this month. The problem is, they forgot to include the DNA on this list and the Playstation Mobile app doesn't appear on the Play Store for us. Never fear, sideload is here.
This week's game is a puzzle game called Cubixx: http://blog.htc.com/2013/01/htc-playstation-games/?NS46

It errors for me when I open it.

What errors? PSM or downloading the app? For Cubixx, there was a message that any file above 20MB requires a Wi-Fi connection. There's no way to change this in the settings. You need to be on a Wi-Fi connection in order to download the app.
Upon opening the app.

If you are using Viper Rom you can find PSM in the Viper Hub under addons , works with no issues so far for me, only issue was flashing which is attempted in recovery with an auto flash.......didn't work so just install from sdcard find the file ....under viper - addons - etc.....
Good Luck

Very strange. I obviously didn't have this launch error or I wouldn't have posted it as such. Just like redtechjunky, I'm on ViperDNA. Perhaps there's something in the ROM that makes this work properly? I didn't know about the Venom Hub installation either. Nice tip.
I see that bigandrewgold's screenshot he is possibly on another ROM (or different theme in Viper.) Lemme know, please.

It's strange how some people, like myself, didn't need any additional files and some people did. It shows you how quirky these phones are.
On Virtuous Rom, didn't need any additional files. This was posted over at Android Central a few days ago with a direct link to the Playstation apk. Everything running fine.
