Could someone help me determine whether my battery is dead or my phone has issues. When I plug in my atrix, it boots up fine, but shows that is cannot detect my battery and remains at 4%. If I take out the USB plug, then it automatically turns off because it has no batter. It says "0s on battery" and has multicolored lines. This is on CM10. I'm confused as to whether simply buying a new battery will fix this issue or my charging wire is fried. Thanks!

You could try flashing a GB ROM. Try with CM7-based, if it keeps happening then try with something stock. You can also try my Battery Fix app, it won't fix the battery but it will show you "real" and "shown" percentage. If none of this helps any, then I guess it's a hardware failure of some sort. Have any friends with Atrixes to borrow the battery from, just to prove it is (or isn't) the battery?
I bought another battery, but it turns out its the phones fault. I can't charge my battery. Does anyone know of a good universal battery charger that is <$10?

Hello peopel, first of all sorry for my english.
I have a problem with my S2 - all the time he say he is charge
but he is not connected to the computer/charger.
when i do charge and i reach 100% battery, he tell me to disconnect,
so i disconnect but the warrning not going off.
he still think he is getting charged.
The battery now goes from 100% to 0% in like 3-4 hours of avarage use.
i tried new Rom/Kernel/charger/usb cable/battery
nothing helped.
Any ideas?
Two easy jump conclusions:
1. Battery needs replacement OR
2. You need to reset battery stats in CWM if you haven't done that for a long time.

You mean it is charging even though it is not connected to anything? Some people reported a problem similar to that. They just cleaned the charging port with a dry toothbrush. Maybe something is in the charging port that causes the phone is still charging. Or if you mean it is 100% all the time then this is the first time i have heard of this issue. Are you on stock rom? Are you rooted? Can you give us any further info?

as "@ephraim033" said, if the phone is saying that "is charging", but the charger isn't pluged in, you have to clean the micro usb port, because it is full of dust
After flashing new roms on my photon I can never get the battery icon to display the correct percentage. I would leave my phone on charge until it reaches 100% and when I unplug it it'll immediately drop to 99%. I've tried the app battery calibration, let the phone discharge, and I still have the same results when I recharge. I've also tried to wipe battery stats in bootstrap recovery and the same thing happens. Not only that but at times the phone will alert me that it's fully charged when it at 98% charge. Is there something I didn't do properly or is there any way for me to fix this?

Mines the same way, always has been. There isn't anything wrong with your phone, thats just the way the programmers of the phones software chose to interpret different events when charging...
Oh okay. I just find it a little annoying every time I'll disconnect the charger from the phone and it shows that. The devs should look more into that and get it right but I'm not complaining, they work too hard to get everything working almost perfectly on the roms they create and the battery icon shouldn't set them back from releasing their software.

I think The problem is that framework-res.apk...
I just got a Samsung Battery Charger/Stand with Battery & have just charged the new battery with it, swapped it for the old one that had just run out when I noticed something weird...
The new battery was showing up as 100% for about 15 minutes. During which time I had the screen on for 3 minutes at full brightness.
What does that mean??
I've never seen 100% for any more than a second after I've unplugged the phone.
I'm assuming there's some difference between the batteries and the stats that are in the phone for the battery. I've used the Battery Calibration app before, when changing roms on my old phone, and that would sort out little anomalies. Do I need to use battery calibration every time I switch batteries?
Will this work itself out?
Will this swapping negatively affect my phone in anyway?
I thank you in advance for your help/suggestions
The phone has logic to not let the battery charge to 100% for too long. The charger does not. Battery calibration apps do nothing.

So... the charger over charged the battery?
Will that damage it?

I posted the same thing in the morning on another thread. Great mind think alike! Haha
Well to me it doesn't mean anything wrong really. Just that the phone doesn't fully charge the battery for safety or maybe heat reasons. Who knows? If samsung desktop charger is approved by samsung its good enough to me.

Guess your right.
So yours was saying 100% for unusually long as well?

It did on my new one for about 5min. Only but I had wifi on and screen and doing some work. It Wasatch new battery and didn't think much of it. I would say that even that was way more than the immediate 99% once off the charger on the phone

Just read your earlier post. Seems strange that the external charger charges more than the phone. I guess I can't complain about a few extra minutes!

Hi,
I have installed Remics-JB 3.0.1 from previous ICS rom, and all are perfect except the GPS issue. But only about battery i am curious why the full charging only up to 95%. And my charging indicator change to vertical white battery not the green glowing as usual when power off. Any body experience of the same happen on vibrant? Any clue for recovery?
Thanks.

The charging icon has been changed in JB. The battery not charging fully is a protection measure however it should go to 98-99%. To charge a battery to 100% and keep it on the charger is bad for the life/health of battery. You should be able to get it to 100% by unplugging the charger, and then plugging it back in. You might have to do it a couple times.
I approve this message.
Ok then, i'll try it. Thanks.

I'm on my second V10. The battery on both of these phones rarely charge up to 100%. It usually stops at around 94-95%. I'm not using the OEM charger as I have misplaced it. For those that have OEM chargers, do you get to 100%? For those that are not, are you experiencing the same issue as me? I have gone through many different android devices and this is the only one that seems to be really picky with chargers.
Let the battery fully drain to the point where you can not even turn on the phone, then charge the phone fully while it is off, that will calibrate the battery, worked on my note I had the same issue

A quicker way is to open adb shell and
rm /data/system/batterystats.bin
But yeah, cheap charger can cause this

Thanks for the tips, but none of them worked. Still stopping at 94%. In the process, I did find something that does work. A battery pull. Once I do that, it will report 100%. Must be something in the battery's circuitry that does reset unless it's pulled because that 94% shows both in android and when the phone is off on the battery charging screen.
I use 3 different chargers with no problems

i'm not have the original charger and same problem
I presume you have already tried this, but change your charging cable and may be an idea to let the phone drain to below 3 % and then recharge without interruption with phone switched off. I had a similar problem and worked for me.

Mine was also the same condition. But once i changed the battery to a new genuine one it is charging to complete 100%. You can do the same thing.
Actually I charge it all the way and it will only say 83% maximum. Yes, I pull the battery just like you did, and when I put it back in, it then reads 100%. For that moment. But then later, when I go to recharge it, it again only goes up to 83%. I don't want to constantly have to pull the battery and reboot it, so doing that is not a solution at all. If anybody has any idea what you can actually do to fix this, please... because this is getting ENTIRELY on my nerves.
Sooooooooooooo........... nothing then.

This is battery issue, you need to replace it.
