Gorilla glass and lcd are a glued single unit, i believe you have purchased the right part and it does have the gorilla glass attached.
You are safe
Yup. You are good to go. The glass comes with the LCD. I wont be too sure that its gorilla glass though. It scratches very easily.
Then again the original gorilla glass wasnt too shatter proof anyway.
I see a lot of posts regarding the unbreakable glass on anything that has the gorilla glass. I think the proper term is SCRATCH resistant, not unbreakable?
I think Corning needs to rework it so if you drop it on a corner, it won't shatter
I took the screen protector off of mine over 2 months ago and even as much as it is in and out of the pouch, in the car unprotected, not one scratch. The plastic around it? Now that is another matter
Yup all the screens I have purchased had the gorilla glass. You cannot buy it and if you could I do not see how you would install it.
I have been running withour screen protection and see no need to put anything on the glass.
I did have a screen protector cor months. I do not think it is needed.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Two Dell Streaks fell at the same time..
Actually guys,
My dad has a dell streak too but that one is with TPU soft case. Both of them fell from the same height. But mine as it was bare bodied, and might have fell on the sweet spot which broke the glass. The other one is scratchless. so now i understand the necessity of the rubber case, also it tends to slip without it from your hands which i have noticed it a couple of times. So lesson learned.. never get off a bigger phone from its layer (case).. Glad it is not an expensive loss though..
Thanks for all your inputs guys..

Buy a Otterbox Commuter or Defender case, the screen protector is crap, but the case itself is very good, should save you the price of buying a new screen. Does make the device quite big, but then its not a small phone.
Hello guys
Tools Needed to separate digitizer
i got the digitizer from ebay,
hot air gun
exacto knife
i used IR thermometer to measure
double sided tape
first i thought removing the digitizer completely, and i experimented in old broken evo 3D digitizer to find out at what temp the glue between the glass and the plastic digitizer starts to lose(85-90degree Celsius)
after i found out that removing the glass pieces from the digitizer layer would be much easier,
my buddy helped me with the heat gun.
keep it moving don't stop at a spot it will damage the lcd, maintain temp between 85celcius(185F)to90celcius(194F)
using the knife remove the glass piece, remove one piece at a time.don't dig deeper when glass pieces are completely removed start heating at the top slowly peal of plastic digitizer layer from the lcd,
During this process maintain the temp at 85deg cel because dna lcd did't have the side metal support if the temp is low or you hurried means the top layer of the lcd will rip off .
after that i checked the lcd it worked no bleed or blackink
I cleaned the old glue and applied the double sided tape. the seller did't gave me pre cut tape so i have cut 2mm for sides and copied the old glue patter at the top and bottem . align the lcd use tape on the backside don't forget to peal of the soft key light diffuser from old one and transfer it to new one
i attached couple of photo taken doing this in a rar file
a pair of hands will be helpful and luck from Jesus .
Be careful with the knife i cut my fingers twice and glass pieces will fly around so wear glasses.
This is great news, however, I already destroyed my LCD in the process of finding that temperature. I was wondering if you could explain the pattern for the double sided tape. Does it not completely surround the opening around the LCD? Should there be a gap for the digitizer ribbon?

you need to make a slot for ribbon cable and holes for front camera and sensor.
Where did you get your double sided tape or could you recommend a source? Thanks

please help me, I have htc droid dna and want to replace LCD display with touch screen digitizer, does fit model X920e lcd with screen my droid dna? is X920e butterfly and droid dna lcd screen same?
Hello,
I don't know if this should be asked on XDA as this is more of a software website,
but I need to replace my cracked glass,
and I still can't find an inconclusive answer to which adhesive should I use:
Should I use double sided tape only, on the sides around the LCD? or should I use those clear LCD adhesives directly on the LCD (LOCA),
or maybe use double sided tape and after putting on the glass, use some liquid adhesive around the phone to seal?
If I use only double sided tape as shows in many videos, won't that my the phone more susceptible to water and humidity?
What is the glue that is used by the companies themselves, for example what is this glue on Samsung i9300?
Thanks all helpers, I already want to replace my glass :cyclops:
Not sure what glue they use in factory but they do use LOCA too. Most people don't bother

Is LOCA also intended to make it more water/humidity resistent or just to get a better grip of the glass and lcd?
Will a double sided tape be enough?(for example the 2mm by 3M) or it will really be bad and I need some special material too.
I also found this type of adhesive:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/10-X-Original-Black-adhesive-glue-tape-For-Galaxy-SIII-S3-i9300-touch-screen-/200904299824?pt=US_Cell_Phone_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item2ec6d45530
will that be ok? I am confused about this sticker because I dont see that it is transparent in the middle where the LCD is!!! or am I missing somehting and you can see? (maybe the adhesive in this sticker is only at the frame?)
Ty again!
Personally I would want LOCA. I wouldn't want to do it myself though.
I imagine it helps prevent dirt and condensation aswell as provides more adhesive

I think the eBay adhesive you sited is just to seal the edges, and you take the middle out.
I have done 4 screens on GS3s. I haven't used LOCA on any of them, but I just ordered some com www.lcdglue.com. For $30, you should be able to do 5 screens. My current GS3 has a new screen with no LOCA, but you can see the two screens making contact when you press on the outer screen. I think using LOCA would be a much better idea.

Got it Thanks !
Btw, can I cure the LOCA with UV LED flashlight? for example this one?:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/UV-Ultra-Violet-Blacklight-9-LED-Flashlight-Torch-Light-/281129456146?pt=US_Flashlights&hash=item41749f1212
Or you need those special curing tubes? Btw, could this flashlight I posted be purple light but not ultra violet? I mean scientifically can it be purple but not UV thus it wont cure the LOCA?^^ sorry I have no idea
Hello, i got international version of zuk z1 and i'm not sure does it have originaly sticked tempered glass protector. My speaker looks like on this video https://youtu.be/Kvi6cpTl8HY?t=143 Do you think it's tempered glass? Should i just stick new one on it?
There is no Screen Protector applied when the device is shipped
I purchased my zuk z1 officially here in India and there is a tempered glass protection factory applied.
Why do you think you have a protection applied, because of the little piece inside the speaker? This is just a sensor...
What little piece are you referring to? I can see a thin film layer which is prominent from the phone display itself, visible from the edges and where it is cut near the earpiece.
That's not a screen protector, I made the same mistake and made the exact same thread about the screen. It is not a screen protector at all, believe I tried to scratch that off and didn't end well haha

I broke mine screen today and I didn't had a protector... But I think there is a protection pre installed because the fractures does not reflect on the display or pixels.. I believe only the protector or glass has crack and trying to peal it off

Did yours have scratches before it broke? I'm thinking on whether to put a tempered glass or not.

Actually it did.. A tempered glass is recommended... My phone screen cracked because it fell on the floor and it would not have if had tempered glass in place... And to confirm there is no pre installed protection glass...I tried to peal of the assumed glass but I managed to peal a small peace of LCD. Now looking for a good LCD panel
My zuk fell off and my screen cracked. No lcd damage. Is there anyway i can replace it?

you will have to get the entire screen assembly replaced. I had this issue as well. But i'll suggest using it as it is for as long as it goes if there are minor cracks. or you can get it replaced through service centre, and it'll cost you as accidental damages are not covered inside warranty.

hello. i wait someone to post this theory about loca glue with normal tempered glass. but i ask you some question?
1. how many cc for loca glue on the screen?
2. what kind of loca glue? ( tp1000 , tp2500 , tp2500f)
3. Is it easy to remove tempered glass from phone after use loca glue?
hello.
I found new Nillkin product 3D AP+ Pro tempered glass. Unfortunately, pictures have only Chinese description, however it's easy to find glass is only 0.1mm thin.

You need less than 10cc absolutely,
One 10cc tube can do at least two installation
2500 should be good enough, its softer than 1000,
Removal is not that hard, but you need to slowly wipe away the dried/jellyfied loca

Actually for this kind of project,
Any TG protector will do,
But i choose one that has color on the edge, since it will disguise if there's any micro bubble appear on the edge,
Even cheap $3 bucks glass will do,
I just did 2nd installation using those kind of glass,
Fit perfectly well

I am interested in giving this a try. From what it sounds like, you just put some adhesive on the glass, affix it to the screen, wipe away the excess, then cure it? How do you manage the glue around the speaker grill? I'm concerned the glue will gunk up the speaker.

Put a paper tape on the speaker first. And remove it later,
Although, you can simply control the amount of LOCA you are using, so that there wont be too much excess that go near speaker.
If you accidentally gunk up your speaker, just use tooth brush, it will easily remove the dried up loca from the grill

AP should be thinner,
CP+ Max is still around 0.2-0.3mm
Wow..... is there any side effect, are there any leaked glue on the side/top/bottom ?
how is the sensitivity, i use Nillkin 3D CP+ Max Full Screen Glass Protector aswell, and the sensitivity on the top corner is horrible.

Leaked glue was cleaned right away after installation
Sensitivity is perfect, since there's no air gap like what happen in most common tempered glass,
and although there's glue between the glass and screen, it's LOCA which designed and purposed for mostcof LCD-Touchscreen-Glass bonding, so it has almost 0 effect to sensitivity and light transmittance
And experience is much better compared to common rubber or tpu protector, since its glass

I had found a YouTube video, and it was comparing the difference between the CP+ and AP+ screen protector for an iPhone, and the guy was saying th CP+ was better, but didn't really say why, or what the difference is.
EDIT:
I sent an email to the manufacturer got a response. The CP+ Max is Tempered Glass, the AP+ Pro is a PE Resen (flexible).

Hmmm I personally wouldn't consider this full-screen coverage but how well it is working without a case (if you don't use a case)? Like is it peeling up at all?

No peeling up,
And i indeed, do not recommend to use case with this,
Since the glass is reaching the edge of the screen, most of case wont fit well

I got the CP+ Max in today. Removed the other screen protector that I had got last week:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XHPMW98/
I didn't like that one since I could see the adhesive on the edges .
But the new screen protector is black all around, looks nice one, like you don't even have one installed. Still has the micro dots. Works with the two cases I have, EasyAcc and Diztronic.

3W or even 6W would be too small, it will takes too much time to cure
Am using 36W UV lamp box, the one which nirmally used for nail polish in beauty shop, it fully cure the glue in around 5-30 mins

LOCA glue i used is mechanic brand. Quite popular among repair shop in my country, not sure that would be available in your country though,
Here's on alibaba : https://m.alibaba.com/product/60537...-glue-liquid-optical.html#show_specifications
I think as long as you are not using the shaddy cheap one, you should be okay.
