Hey all
I'm using a 64 GB SD card for my Galaxy S3 so I can have all my music on the phone. Everything works fine except that when I make playlists, they are empty after a phone restart! Happens with every player I tried (Player Pro, Songbird, DoubleTwist, stock Samsung player). This is a big problem for me since with 40 GB of music, playlists are necessary. Now do you think this is a Samsung problem, or SD Card (SanDisk sdxc class 10) or Jelly Bean?
I tried using Spotify since that saves playlists online, but it does not sync with the external sd card. But not being able to save playlists on the phone seems weird, anyway, I should not have to work around it by using a service like Spotify. Also tried moving the music player to the SD Card, but does not seem possible on the S3 (also tried via app to sd).
Any help would be appreciated.
Try using Poweramp. I just tested it, made a playlist and restarted and it worked.
:good: Works for me, too! Thanks! Although it is still a shame that it does not work for all the other players!

im running eclipse 0.4 and have which ever music play comes with that.. ive noticed it cant seem to read the music on my SD card, only internal memory. how can i make it read both?
I had the same problem, I posted in his topic but never got it fixed. I reckon no music player finds your music? Mine didn't so I just went back to 2.3.3.
im useing Winamp with my music on the SD card and its reading ok for me.
I like poweramp. Can also reduce skipping most if time using the buffer setting.
It has an option in settings that allows u too choose which folders to scan for music. Including external sd card folders. 14 days trial. Costs 5$ after that but definitely worth it.
Hi All,
my nook tablet is sometimes becoming unresponsive while playing mp3 files from the sd card.It only works when i restart the tablet.i have tried various music playing apps like android music, power amp,winamp,e.t.c.but i think there might be a problem either with the rooting or the sd card reader.
any suggestions?
thank you
Mine works perfectly fine with my 4gb card and poweramp. I don't bother using the stock media player app.
Have you tried a different SD card? The nook seems to be very picky with cards.
You may want to try reformatting the card in CWM or perhaps with SDFormatter by Trendy, it's a free download.
I'm using a 32GB Sandisk (class4) and also used a Kingston 8GB (class4) and haven't had a single hiccup.
The only other thing I can think to suggest is to see if another app is causing issues, particularly apps like Volume+ or other DSP.
I have just yesterday purchased the Droid Razr 16GB on Verizon. I previously had an old samsung caliber with a 16GB micro SD. I wanted to use it for my music in my Razr so I installed the card and it claimed the SD was damaged. I then formatted the card with the phone and the error seemed to be resolved. I took out the card and copied music from my PC. When attempting to view the music in the stock player only a dozen artists showed out of about thirty. I have performed several routine actions to try to fix this including:
-Full FAT32 format in PC (not quick)
-Clearing Google Play Music App's data
-Clearing Media Storage data
-Powering off phone, removing/ reinstalling SD card, restarting phone
-Installing winamp, verizon's My Music app. (this always resulted in each app displaying the same dozen tracks the other apps)
-Unmount/ remount SD
-Change file types (though this seems to be unbiased. Mp3's or m4a's have both failed to play independently)
Some important info:
...The music in question was copied off of my stock, rooted wifi -only Xoom running 4.0.3 so it shouldn't be a problem. I also added music off of my external HDD which has not shown up.
...Each time the phone re-scanned the external SD for music only a dozen or so artists would show HOWEVER it was always different artists. (Ex. first scan: AWOL, Baroness, Led Zeppelin, etc. second scan: Cold War Kids, Kid Cudi, Passenger, etc.)
...Occasionally after unmounting the SD or rebooting the phone it would claim it was damaged again. A reboot would fix this.
...The Razr is a stock, non-rooted, fresh out of the box 2.3.6 Android phone.
I have run out of ideas short of cutting down the music and putting it on the internal. My only thought is that the SD card may be bad but it was working fine yesterday before I got the Razr. Any help would be appreciated.
New Symptom: It seems that the player is throwing the music into the LOST.DIR file on the SD card, so it reads them as corrupt and trashes them. Will investigate further.
SOLVED! Looks like there were two issues. The SD card had a bad sector which I fixed with the basic windows scanner. This fixed the songs moving to the LOST Directory. Also even though the tagging info was correct in windows, it wasn't correct on the razr. To fix this, I got the iTag app from the Play Store. It showed all unknown pieces of tagging info and allowed me to edit them. Now all music is on the SD card and there are no unknown artists!
You've tried Poweramp? With this you can manage your music by Folders. The Stock player uses the MP3 Tags. I have an huge DnB Collection, but not every Record has an Tag. So Stock Player doesn't order them right.

I use Mp3tag to tag al my music folders
included with folder icons! love it!
The songs are all tagged. I'm a meticulous librarian when it comes to my music.
Update: Woke up this morning and had to reboot the phone due to a common sound issue. I then checked the music player and all of the artists where there! So I connected the phone via usb to my computer and, wouldn't you know it? Damaged SD card again (again fixed by reboot). It seems to me that this may be a separate issue.
Possible solutions? Bad SD card? Maybe it just takes a long time to scan the card? I'm going to buy a new card today. I'll let you know the results. In the mean time, music is going on the internal SD. We'll see if that works
Hey guys,
I swapped in my microSD card from my S2 into my S3. Doubletwist can find this music fine, and the stock music player can actually play the music as well. However, if I press play, doubletwist goes through the entire list of songs very quickly and isn't able to play anything. It gives an error message at the end (I forget what it says... I've since moved all of it to the internal memory).
Anyone else also experiencing this???
Playback from internal memory is working fine (doubletwist).
Cheers,
Dan
I'm having an issue with music playback. About once every song there is a short pause. Only happens when the mp3s are coming from the microsd card (Sandisk Ultra 128gb microsdxc class 10). Playback is smooth from internal memory. Transferring songs from microsd to internal memory transfers at 25mb/s so it doesn't seem to be a hardware issue.
I've tried:
Moving sim card to the other spot
Turning off wifi
Restoring back to stock (I'm running debloat script, no swap, rooted, adaway)
The problem still persists. The microsd came from a moto g 2015 and I did not have this issue with that phone.
Anyone have the same issue or know of a fix?
Uninstalling Facebook messenger worked for me.
Are you using Emui/stock music player? Which player do you use? Are you listening through phone speaker/headphones/Bluetooth? I have not experienced this issue with stock Music app on phone spesker so far.

I'm using Poweramp but have the same issue with Google music. I haven't tried the stock player. Issue happens through Bluetooth, headphones (wired), and phone speaker.
Messenger is not installed. Using Google now launcher.
Almost seems like it runs out of memory because it also happens when I open another app while listening to music.
It seems there are 2 folders added to the sd card, Android and LOST.DIR. Maybe the system is writing to these folders while I listen to music?
I tried a different sd card (Samsung Evo 32GB) and have the same issue. At this point I am assuming I have a defective phone.
