[Q] Help me install Leak ICS - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm a complete noobie when it comes to atrix , i just got it and i need help installing leaked ICS
i dont understand what fastboot is and i dont know how to get leaked ics on my device
can someone give me instructions ?
I'm rooted but i dont know if i have CWM installed or not
running GB 2.3.4
bought the phone from Egypt

i think i speak for everyone when i say, dont bother at all.
the ICS only just been realeased in undeveloped form and is dangerous at this moment in time
just wait a month or two then read a few stickies about unlocking your bootloader and flashing roms!

Beware it's too early for daily use!

I wouldn't suggest you to uprade yet because it's not stable.
I you're not an experienced user(noob) like me, you can try to flash Lokifish'es prerooted ClockWorkMod zips:
http://goo.gl/3aAjE
If your phone is an international version of Atrix 4g flash this RamFix with recovery, if your phone is ATT leave this alone:

I would recommend MRom(build on CM7.2) which is pretty decent especially in regard of battery life, until they create a firm version of this ICS leak. It's probably going to be a Jelly Bean release because some guy succeeded to create a JB rom out of this leaked Atrix 4G ICS leak.

Thank you both for your replies
i'm not a complete noobie, i used to have the defy and i was always upgrading to cm10 nightlies
but with the atrix everything is new to me....i feel that i'm lost and i keep reading but get nothing
i'm just so excited about the leaked ICS because i was waiting for this even before i bought the phone

This is understandable, I'm also a noob, but did some reading and feel better now
This is the link for MRom btw, I'm using this for a week and it's great and you won't believe how fast it boots and how long your batteries will last:

I'm definitly a noob and still trying to fill the gaps in my knowledge. Right now I still cannot figure out how to even root my phone (MB860) running android 2.3.4. I would really appreciate some advice from one of you. Is there any chance I can call one of you? I am in England but just bought 2 hrs of American minutes. I also have skype.
If any of you are interested in helping out a noob I would much appreciate it. I am technically very savvy, I'm just unclear as to the interfaces of Linux and Android and the different tools out there.
Before you tell me to, I have already read the thread for noobs.

If all you want to do is root you can check out superoneclick root, it did the job for me on the last available GB update released. But remember that you have to have the proper drivers installed and that this does not allow you to flash custom roms, it simply gives you root access.
The drivers can be found here (I think).
superoneclick can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
also make sure to read a bit from that thread.

If you are a n00b don't install THAT rom... it's very unstable..

superoneclick rocks
superoneclick rocks, as does cwm recovery. Install both, and don't look back.

well , i managed to unlock bootloader and install recovery and now i just flashed cm10 by epinter
i love it

I don't know the answer about OTA updates after rooting, but to be honest, I'd be surprised if another OTA update ever happens for the Hero.

Oh ok n also I was readi thru my phone n it shows that what he's doin is instalin a costum rom n wouldn't do erase everythin on my phone?
Yes, installing a custom ROM would erase everything on your phone (although he also instructs you on how to do a nandroid backup of your previous setup). However, if all you want to do is root the phone you can do that without having to do any of the other stuff. Just download, install, and run Universal Androot as instructed in that thread, and you should have root without doing any other changes to the phone or your data.
Unfortunately rooting the T-Mobile G2 Touch isn't as simple as rooting a standard Hero GSM, T-Mobile made it quite difficult. I would suggest following this thread or using this tool
And if you don't install a custom rom or a rooted stock rom, your recovery will be overwritten, and you'll lose root on the first reboot.
The unrooted stock rom overwrites the recovery when rebooted.
Correct me if I'm wrong

Good point, I think you right in which case you will need to install a rooted stock ROM at the very least, which would mean wiping all your data
Sorry, I didn't know the G2 required a different rooting method.
Anyways, on my standard unlocked Hero I did not loose root when rebooting on the stock ROM, although as you said it did overwrite my recovery. I do not know if this is the case on the G2.

T-Mobile did some pretty nasty stuff security-wise compared to the standard GSM Hero so rooting is a bit different. As for what happens on reboot I can't comment, but I would recommend using a custom ROM anyway, something like [email protected]'s MCR is great for someone who just wants it working like stock but with better performance. You should be able to add something like FlyKernel to it for the overclock.

Agreed. Once you go custom, you won't go back.
Guys, I think he's actually talking about T-Mobile G2 as in http://www.gsmarena.com/t_mobile_g2-3518.php, and not T-Mobile G2 Touch (HTC Hero). Notice the system specs in the first post

sucessful tmobile G2 temp root using VISIONary r14 this morning!
I tried ROOT on my new tmobile G2 (GSM) I bought last week. I tried Universal Androot AND z4root and neither worked to get even temp root.
This morning, I used VISIONary r14 and sucessfully gained su root and disabled a few of the branding and blotware apps on MY phone! I still haven't been able to uninstall them completely, but at least they aren't starting automatically on boot. Here's the link that worked:
android.modaco.com/content/software/320350/19-nov-r14-visionary-one-click-root/
these branded apps are WAY annoying! I'm not good with outfits like facebook and twitter having access to all my personal info and data, including fine GPS location!! and I can hardly believe tmobile imbedded these apps as they did. I'm still within my 14-day trial and may still return the phone because of this unless I can be sure I can get these apps OFF my back!

flash gingerbread 2.3.4 on atrix at&t 1.83

Hi guys,
I have a motorola Atrix AT & T version 1.83, I would like to upgrade to 2.3.4 gingerbread, what should I do?
someone can explain well all the steps I need to do.
I've already unlocked bootloader
If you are smart enough to unlock the bootloader, I am assuming you would be smart enough to know where to post your question?
There is already step by step instructions in here on how to install CWM and then 2.3.4.

The previous posts are right, you should probably get in the habit of searching around a bit before posting questions.
Either way, here's a link to the instructions on how to flash the 2.3.4 HKTW build to an unlocked Atrix. If you are AT ALL uncomfortable with the instructions, worried about voiding your warranty or this is your first time then you should probably wait for an official ROM to be released. Be forewarned, there are still a bunch of bugs still to be worked out.

One thing to note. With a bit of tweaking, specifically modifying of /system/build.prop, this build is fully functional as far as i can tell, minus the front facing camera and fingerprint scanner being broken, so depending on your needs, it CAN be ready for daily use. The CWM flashable version of 2.3.4 seems to be much more broken than independently flashing /system and /boot.

[Q] rooting first time :)

Hello all,
this is my first time rooting and i have read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=996616, im downloading the files as i type, so my question is, it it hard to root my thunderbolt? also ive read the pros and cons, and i would also like to know from u rooters, what do u like from a rooted phone?
for those who want to just the question, here u go:
1) it it hard to root my thunderbolt? (following the link)
2) u rooters, what do u like from a rooted phone?
yes im excited to attempt to trying to root my thunderbolt ^^
It's not hard, just fallow the instructions to the letter and of course make sure you have adb set up and the proper drivers installed. After that it's pretty much a cut and paste affair.
Second question: Root = freedom, simple enough.
I went to Youtube to setup my adb.

so for now its ok to have no busybox, after i install a ROM it will be in that ROM correct?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153055 this is the ROM i am thinking, will i be able to get that onto my phone? i did the 2.5 version
also ty i appreciate answering my questions!
Before you flash any ROM, do yourself a huge favor, and read the OP (original post) and then read it again. Follow the directons carefully. After your first time its like riding a bike. Search the thread before asking questions too since you will likely get hammered by people for asking questions already asked and answered. Good luck.
BAMF is a great ROM, you might search later in the thread for RC5, Adryn leaked a preview with a different kernel than RC4.

You'll need an MR2 radio for that ROM, I recommend the one from the OTA. You can find it in the development thread, it gets flashed through hboot.
Edit: And yes, the ROM you flash will have busybox built in. And +1 for the post above mine, use the search function, it works well. When you do have a question post it in that ROM's thread or keep it in the Q&A section. Best of luck to you.
Hey there! Yes, this is my first post in this forum I believe, but I've been a heavy lurker since December. Currently, my tbolt is rooted and has been for a few months. I'm running BAMF 3.0 RC4 and I can honestly say, the pros far outweigh the cons. A few of my favorite pros is the ability to run a wider selection of apps, more control, the speedier updates from devs compared to Verizon/HTC, overclocking, better controlled over battery life, no bloat removal..the list goes on and on. Basically, being rooted allows me to make changes to my phone to fit my needs. And yes, it is incredibly easy IMHO to root this phone. Good luck, and have fun.
Should mention too that I did mess up my radio when I flashed GB but it was quickly fixed by reflashing. So the only con has been my own fault. I also believe that you can restore the phone to a "fresh out of the box" state should you ever need to take it back.

Try the RC5 preview with the new MR2 OTA leaked radio. Smoothest combination I've used yet.
Yeah definitely would suggest flashing the official MR2 radio as well. It's been the most solid for me. Had issues with 2.5, and I had slow 3g speeds on the leaked MR2.

I'll try BAMF again when RC5 is officially released. My phone really likes Ziggy's kernels. Was flashing almost daily since I got my bolt trying to find decent battery life. Running Synergy now for a week with no issues. Liked the other roms, but Ziggy's kernel gives me the best life.

Help a noob go back in time!

i know this is brought up alot on the forums and theres plenty of answers but im that much of a noob too flashing ect.. that i have no idea what any of these answers are talking about and i need someone to help me through how to do it...
I put gingerblur on my rooted atrix yesterday using this video
youtube.com/watch?v=MvC0C2h95BY&list=FLqfb2F1A2s4Z08JTFsWNuGg& index=4&feature=plpp_video (which involves CMW or something)
meaning i had no idea what i was doing just following step by steps on the video, and ever since my homescreen button and search button dont work and i no longer have a lock screen so i want to go back to stock because i dont like the bugginess!
my phone before i put it on gingerblur was 2.2.2 froyo on tmobile uk (unlocked device with no tmobile branding on the rear cover)
i would really apreciate it if someone could guide me how to turn it back to the software it came with or an official less buggy software please?
i checked my ota upgrade with gingerblur on the device and it says i can go to ATT gingerbread but then im sure this wouldnt work in the uk with the radio update but someone said i can do the ota then just flash the radio to a uk one but i had no idea what that means
im not sure at all what im doing with this and i wish i didnt follow the tutorial in the first place can someone help me please!
i just want to get back to stock or an official software that will work on tmobile uk and not brick my phone.
any helpe is appreciated thank you!
P.S i have CWM recovery does this have anything to do with restoring your phone how it was because it seems to have recovery options?
Did you unlock the bootloader? If you did, and have CWM, just install a ROM of your preference
If you want a hint on what ROM to choose,
Most of the ROMS available are based on 2.3, so consider going with CM7 if you like AOSP or Aura if you want blur
im not sure what a bootloader is all i can say i did was root my phone, then use that tutorial thats all iv done.. ohh ok so rather than being able to go back too a stable stock build i have to stay with roms full of bugs? :/
I'm gonna assume that you have tried a factory reset (most basic thing i could imagine)
I don't think that there are any SBFs for people with the T-mobile version, so i think the only thing you can do is either search for a removal tool or unlock the bootloader, install CWM recovery and then install a ROM.
You should read this. Or you can follow this video guide.
Actually, ROMs can often be very stable and offer way more functionality.
You could always grab a "stock" ROM and install that, should be as close to stable as you can get.
ohh ok well i already have CWM recovery install in my phone so i guess installing a stable rom would be the best option for me? until i can go back to stock by sbf
What version of CWM do you have? How did you install it?

Gingrrblur is not a real rom therefore you are not unlocked and do not have a full cwm that you can flash other roms with. Just use an sbf from the firmware thread to get you back to stock gb then if you want to find a radio corresponding to your area on the same thread. Both are flashed through rsd lite
sent from my Atrix via XDA premium
yes, Gingerblur is a pseudo-ROM (p-ROM) and from what I know, it doesn't touch alot of important parts of the phone, for example the bootloader.
I'm guessing your bootloader is exactly the same as a regular 2.2. I guess flashing the IHOP_Bell.sbf and then doing fastboot unlock should do the trick
ok we're getting somewhere
I kinda understand now so could you send me some links in the order I need to so each thing please? One thing I don't want to do is install software from at&t and then have the wrong radio lol from what IV found there's no T-mobile software but is some orange ones and seeing as tmobile and orange are the same company in the uk, so basically I could get official gingerbread software then a T-mobile radio software and put them both on my atrix now I just need to know how to do it

[Q] Root New Bell (Canada) Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE (SGH-I757M)

Hello,
I'm trying to find if there is as of yet any way to root this device. I did find one thread but involved flashing a Russian (I think) rom. Before I had the HTC Legend, so I'm not used to Samsung phones. I've been searching since I got it yesterday. I'm wondering if anyone found a safe / confirmed way to do this yet. If I need to wait, I need to wait. I just wanted to pose the questions. I did fine a few roms and info on the Korean version of the phone, but was also unsure if it was safe to flash on this device.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this.

In the same boat as you!! I don't want to flash any other roms as it can lead to other issues. As of now I hate not having root, but if it means I have to wait for a flashable. Zip, or a super one click. I can wait

I have just rooted my device using the Russian rom, it went smoothly and I'm now rooted, If you go ahead with it its very simple, took about 5 mins

Russia root works
I used the same rooted and it worked smoothly for me i would recommend that you use it
I'm so willing to bet that there is one of the already exisiting Samsung phones that has the exact same physical characteristics and all the ROMs are compatible. I'm so sure. I'm hoping. I'm praying. You know, CM9 and all that. =(

once rooted. anybody tried putting cyanogenmod for Galaxy S II on the I757M?
Do want ICS!!
No offense for anyone but these generic ROMs tend to run with the least amount of efficiency with Bell's Radio and Kernel. I tried at least 10 of the CM9's out there. The battery life was useless. It was more of a gimmick than anything else.
Which section of the forum is being used for this phone?
Where is this Russian Rom that everyone is talking about? Please provide links to location on the forum!
I am currently loathing Gingerbread but honestly. I will wait for the official Ice Cream Sandwich roll out.
It's being covered:

What were the different results of CM9? Were you building from source, or did you just download a random one and flash them in? I'm trying to port Stock ICS, and going for a much needed beer after I type this just to come sit back down and keep trying - I'm determined to have an alpha up in the next 24 hours of a CWM-flashable ICS.
I'm tearing apart every kernel I can find to make this *@#[email protected](ing phone boot from ICS.
