I have ics 4.0.3 stock rom with root but don't know how to backup account settings and emails.

I've installed it some time ago but I have not found settings for emails.

I did read somewhere that Titanium backup does have some limitations when backing up / restoring system apps. Its best used with user apps.

So, there is no way to backup stock email settings?

You can use Titanium backup. But since stock email is a system app, things may not go as planned while restoring especially if the app version changes. If you look at TT backup, it shows the email app in red but does allow you to restore.

Move Apps to Another Android Account

I'm deleting a Google account due to massive trolling/spamming via email and Google+. All of my installed apps are free apps. So to make them appear in the Market again, do I need to back them up using MyBackup root (or some other app), factory reset the phone, and restore the apps? The only issue is I'm rooted with CWM... I have the new Google account linked to the phone, but I can't delete the old one, it says I have to factory reset.
Still no luck with this.
Once a factory reset is done , you can make a new Google Account , all you need to do is to backup everything using either MyBackup Root or Titanium

I did that. I'm on the new Google account, but the 100+ apps I restored aren't showing up under My Apps in the Market.

You might need to use Titanium Backup to restore the Market Links

Can I use the free version? Will it restore from the MyBackup root backup?
I tried installing and uninstalling some random app, which supposedly fixes this, and it didn't work. I tried clearing Market data and rebooting, still no luck.

You need to backup the app using Titanium Backup (latest version) , be it free or paid

Well I didn't do that initially. I used MyBackup root, because it's always worked. I'm restoring the data now, maybe that'll work.

Backup the apps backed up/restored with MyBackup root with Titanium free? I don't think that'll know anything about Market links.

I wouldn't go around bragging about that here in these forums. Piracy is bannable.

Restoring from CWM

I tried restoring a backup of a stock ROM, but upon start up, it comes up with the tutorial setup to find it hasn't restored any of my applications, only my system settings. Can someone explain what the hell is happening?
What the hell are you doing.Restore how ???.

By restoring a backup in CWM. It just doesn't seem to restore any applications.
Can't say what your problem is there, but it might be worth investing in titanium backup pro (batch restore saves a lot of time and effort). Hope you get your apps back.

When updating do not do a factory reset. So you'll have all your existing data even after the update. Now check if this app works in ICS and backup using it. Then do a factory reset(If u need one) and restore it again
usually backup/restore app save everything in a simple txt file, so i think there's no problem to backup in GB and restore in ICS
isn't google automatically update it? why do you need another app?

For messages i usually use 'Backup to Gmail' app from Market.
I had no problems with restoring on ICS messages exported from GB.
To backup contacts
tap options key->backup contacts->memorycard(backup to) it will generate a xxx.vcf
To backup sms
download this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDEsIm1vYmkuaW5mb2xpZmUuc21zYmFja3VwIl0.
just click backup to backup the messages and copy the folder called "SMSbackup"
now place the xxx.vcf and folder "SMSbackup" and saved it in your pc or in your gmail
account as a draft
after updating to ICS
just install the app again and replace the folder back and click restore your messages
will be restored automatically (tested and it is working)
to restore contact
go to contacts tap option key importan contact and choose the vcf file
Mobile Backup 2
I use this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsIm1vYmlsZWhvbWUuYmFja3VwIl0.
A simple App to backup and restore your phone data via SD card anytime anywhere.
This App easily backup and restore your mobile data (Calendar, Contacts, SMS and Call Log) in SD card. The backup data is stored in the root directory of SD card.

Works on GB as well as ICS
I can recommend 'Backup to Gmail' app from Market - works like a charm...
SMSBackup! No doubt, I'm using that one and no problem.

The nandroid backup you had taken then, will restore the phone as an exact snapshot of how it was then. Any apps installed since (or SMS received for example) will be lost, but the phone will be exactly as it was when you took the backup.
If there are SMS that need to be backed up, I recommend SMS backup+, it will back up SMS to your Gmail account. You can even browse them as emails in gmail.
Any apps / data that you want to backup over and above what is in the nandroid backup, use Titanium. With this, ONLY backup and restore USER APPS. System data is incompatible.
Hope this helps. There are some guides in General, under "Roll-up Sticky thread". You should be able to get all teh info you need (including back ups) from tehre.

[Q] Restoring apps and data

Hi
I'm new to rooting and custom roms, so far I've rooted my s3 (i9305) and added a custom recovery. I'm currently looking for a custom rom to update the stock version I'm currently running (4.1.2). I have titanium backup installed and everything is backed up, however many of the posts I've read suggest not to restore apps + data from titanium backup. Can anyone explain why, is it just titanium backup that causes problems? What about using other backup apps like helium? Can I restore just the apps using titanium backup, or should I download from the play store instead?
For me the most important stuff is contacts and calendars (which are in my google account), so that's easy as I just re-add my account. My call logs and SMS are backup to my google account using SMS backup, so I assume it's ok to restore this data as well, I'd also like to be able to restore my firefox data.
Any advice would be appreciated to a noob, I know how to do it, just want to know what the potential risks are of restoring apps and data.
Thanks
Dave
Try app backup and restore if you have a lot of apps it could potentially take up quite a bit of space but you could always backup to cloud ,or external hard drive, or flash drive

It is normally okay for u to restore apps. But not recommended if u are coming from touchwiz to aosp roms. The frameworks are different and u may experience force closes. U can try to see if u have force closes.
