GingerBread Fruit Cake and Video Playback Problem In the Stock Browser - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently restored back to stock using CWM using fruitcake 2.3.6 for my Att Atrix 4G, everything runs fine except for video playback in my stock browser. Youtube app works fine and Netflix works as well. But when I try to play any video from YouTube or go.abc.com through the browser I get "Sorry this video cannot be played." I tried rebooting, clearing all cache and history, clearing cache in the video player app, and trying out other video player such as MX player, but none of them work. I even tried using dolphin browser, and the result remains the same. Am I just out of luck? Or is there anything wrong with my kernel since it's no longer the stock one. I'm currently using the 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #2 for my kernel.
Is anyone else experiencing similar issue?

Is Adobe Flash Player installed? My AT&T Atrix came with it stock, but CM7 didn't. I've never tried any of the fruitcake ROMS, so I don't know if it's included or not.

Youtube app

The video playbac k on youtube app was fine in android 2.3.3.....
But ever since updating to 2.3.4... I getvery sight lag in the video playback in the native youtube app.. video is fine on web browser through flash ... but on the native app it stutters ever so slightly ..... I wanted to know if only I'm having this issue....
Would be great if someone can provide me with a fix.....
Much appreciated...
Hi,
I had the same problem in youtube app on every KG* ROM so now I'm back on KF2 (2.3.3).
Hmm.... I wish samsung fixed the issue
:-(
I think it might be some thing to do with youtube video and samsung 2.3.4 video decoding because the video stuttes even in their mobile site..... Its only youtube that's having this issue...
Dailymotion works fine... N youtube on flash its ok too just quality isn't as ...
Im on kg5 with stock rom(cf-root) and watching youtube via the "Tubex" app which is free from the market its running fine.
+1 for Tubex
Youtube runs fine on stock XXKH3 firmware for me.
Working fine too on xxxkh3 so far no problem at all

MX Video player "Unsupported device" ?

I flashed ICS build 6, and mx video player doesn't open. It gives the message "unsupported device" and closes.
pastebin logcat:
http://pastebin.com/rk4RKXkf
I really would like to use mx video player. the other video players don't hold the candle to MX video player.
Same issue with ICS 4.0.4 on Galaxy Nexus LTE. Was fine on 4.0.2.

Tell me, did you use Titanium Backup to restore MX Video Player?
I decided to remove Mx Video completely [including codec] and I reinstalled from the market, and it fixed everything! Worth a shot. Tell me if this also works for ya

Good man! I had tried just removing MX's data via Ti, which still didn't work. But upon your comment, I tried uninstalling, then just restoring the app only via Ti and it's good again!

edit: this was before you replied, and before I got it working:
That's good! I emailed the MX Video dev, they asked for a logcat. So then then said it was a cyanogenmod bug.
So I was stuck without a video player [Stock movie app cannot seek large h.264 MP4, it FC (ICS build 6)]. I got pretty tired of that fast, and I seemed to remember other people saying about other apps "reinstall from the market".
But I wonder why you have to uninstall it first?

Samsung S3 can't play web embedded video

Hi,
I've tried many different web browsers with my Samsung S3, however none of them can play web embedded video (linked from youtube).
http://sugoizh.info/sugoiid-fondant-garden-episode-01-15/2/ is the one of the link I'm trying to watch, however when the clip is loaded, I can only hear the sound but no video showing. Does any know how to fix this issue?
PS: I have installed Adobe Flash already
Thanks!!!

Yes, 100% Sure, because I downloaded using Apps Kit - - Adobe Flash Player 11 (Installed)
An update with this problem:
I uninstalled Adobe Flash Player 11 (file was from Play Store), the clips are working fine via the web, however, when Adobe Flash Player 11 was installed and enabled from the browser, the clips has sound but no picture.
Conclusion - - -I think Adobe Flash Player 11 has some kind of bug and crashing the browser when watching embedded video.

I used both Stock and third party browsers such as Opera and Boat, they all seems to have the same issue when the flash player was installed to the phone, but as soon as I unstalled, all browsers works.

The latest update has some problems. Thats something you can read in comments on google play.
Moreover, the adobe flash player wont be updated anymore. So i think you should try switching to older version and see if that works.
And btw, i think google will embed shockwave flash player inside android also like they did in pc as adobe flash player will not support android version 5.xx. Although its way too far till its release.

Embedded YouTube vids no longer playing

When I try to watch an embedded YouTube video on any website in my browser it acts like it is going to play then it just stops. There will be just the short red progress bar but it never caches or plays. It worked fine up to a couple weeks ago, I've been on ICS the whole time. Vimeo and most other players seem to work fine in browser. Any ideas on a fix?

Restore the default settings of your browser or reinstall your browser. Does your YouTube app work ok? Does your stock browser work ok?
If none of this helps I guess you could restore a nandroid backup or do a factory reset (hopefully you have TB).

Youtube with 720p/1080p?

If some one got working youtube app with hd videos working please share,

With root and titanium backup, I just removed the youtube app that comes with stock.
After that I was able to reinstall youtoube from the playstore, choosing version 5.3
That version plays everything perfectly in HD.

Ok, thanks for the Info I'll check that
Update,
I don't know what is it but when I play video on that Youtube app (v5.3) when I choice HD (and I know in desktop is REAL HD) is streaming poor quality like I don't know... VGA maybe
from CC to HQ is like from very poor quality to poor quality so that was not my point. I want to play 720p or 1080p videos like on desktop
Strange, because I do get pretty good quality, definitely HD (by youtube standards).
Either install flash player and firefox, or dolphin browser and dolphin jetpack or install viral youtube app. Take a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2579795

The viral floating youtube app doesnt support 480p or 1080p because google splits the streams in to. 720p works flawless and it hasnt any great difference with 1080p.
I forgot to ask you what version of android you have, if you have 4.2 jelly bean then adobe's flash player should work with every browser that supports flash playback (like firefox or dolphin). If you re on 4.4 kitkat though you need the hacked flash player as google removed from 4.4 some critical files that the flash player needed.

Yes i have 4.4 CM11 , like I wroted up, the haked flash work like a charm, but I switch to Dolphin browser because Boat browser do not played all hd videos on YT like I was thinking, but Dolphin does. Overall I think that Boat is beter browser than dolphin, faster, lighter and smoother but is something for something, haked flash player support Dolphin and is somthing in that flash code because videos that I can't watch on Boat are smooth playable on Dolphin.

I use firefox as a browser and if i want to watch youtube videos i switch to dolphin. Dolphin is not bad at all, its the only browser at the moment which can play flash videos in 4.4 kitkat with satisfactory results and supports plugins just like firefox.
Try Og YouTube from XDA. It's a modified Youtube APK.
There you can select the resolution like you do in the webplayer.
I'm running it and it works fine.
The only issue is, that you can't log in with your Google account.

Give viral a try. See sig
Use Flashfox or Firefox and download an add-on called youtube center.
For now I using Dolphin with jetpack and moded fplayer, and YT works like on PC no problem with 720/1080p
I dont really get it , why from the first place google messed up the resolutions.
Seriously... Why is this even a problem. Videos from the YouTube app look terrible. Sucks that we have to find a workaround.

I downloaded an older version of YouTube, 4.4 something and it shows HD videos fine.
