I suggest you Flash a stock kernel, then redownload the n5-1, flash again.

Use the Q&A forum to ask. This is the general forum.

Kernels are not installed through xrecovery they have to be flashed via flashtool check the zip file for a
.ftf file extract it and put in the firmwares folder of flashtool open flashtool up and select flash and select the kernel then follow the on screen instructions ok

This is kernel that ment to be flashed through Xrecovery. First you must flash stock kernel, then flash Doomlord Bootmanager V.2 for stock kernel. Then flash Rom you want. After flashing Rom and first boot (wait till your phone finish boot completely), reboot in Xrecovery and flash th 5-1 kernel (install custom zip from SDcard). Reboot again and enjoy.

I know that you can also flash kernels through recovery, but if it doesnt work, maybe is the file damaged? redownload fresh and try.again, if not workin extract it and flash via flashtool

It's not required!
You just need unlocked bl
Flash kernel inside the zip
Boot into cwm
Do the wipes (all of them including formats)
Install the Rom!
Done! You have cm10 running!

Put the FXP CM7 150 zip you download on your SDcard take you phone off and flash this:http://ul.to/n9bjkpvv using flashtools and then go to recovery and flash the FXP CM7 150. I am assuming that your bootloader is unlocked right? since you have flashed jellybean before.

Installed it used it for 20mins -
Smooth, jittery camcorder, foto camera works usable. How long that i don't know. Still the most stable is ZMOD with ZMOD kernel.

CWM or nAa?

What do I have to do first? Install CWM and flash the kernel, or just flash the kernel without installing CWM, I'm asking because I was having problems with flashing it. Please help

the nAa kernel include the cwm

-First update your original firmware to the latest one
-root your phone with superoneclick or flashtool (program for computer)
-unlock bootloader with flashtool
-use flashtool to flash the kernel you want
-then finally you can enter on cmw and flash your rom

Is this a good idea?

Is it a good idea to install CWM before flashing the kernel, is it safe?

Yes.
And it will make the next process of installing the ROM much more easy.
The nAa kernel include the cwm, so no need to install CWM first.
But i had problems with flasging the kernel, I have a rooted phone, with unlocked bootloader, and it always says error. So I'll try again to flash it and can it brick my phone?
Sent from my E10i using xda app-developers app
If you're talking about a kernel like naa-14, i think that when you flash a kernel that it comes with cwm with it, so there's no need to instal cwm before flashing kernel. If you're getting errors then just try flashing kernels without installing cwm separately.

Help !!!

Is that necessary to rename any custom kernel to "boot.img" before flashing it (via FLAHTOOL.exe) ?
I want know this bcoz I flashed a kernel(not renamed to 'boot.img') and after that installed a ROM(for unlocked BL only) via CWM and got black screen or bootloop... Please help meh..
Sent from my MT11i using xda app-developers app
You can change kernel name, but make sure you type in command prompt with the same name with kernel.
Flash kernel must from a PC ,cant flash through CWM.Before flash kernel make sure you have unlock your bootloader.
My BL is unlocked!!
What do you mean by "command prompt with the same name of kernel ?“
Please say in details...

When you renamed the boot image i.e (PACMAN.IMG)...you must type in DOS command prompt like this fastboot flash boot PACMAN.IMG .

No need to rename the kernel as boot.img.. But make sure the kernel u r flashing is compatible with the rom... Otherwise ur phone will not boot & u will face bootloop... Like GB ROM = GB Kernel, ICS ROM = ICS Kernel & JB ROM = JB Kernel

If you would read the rom thread properly no one has told that the kernel is inside the zip. It is is written that you have to flash fusion 5.4.
