I use LaunchPro instead of TouchWiz and I'm very satisfied,
I can configure more rows / icons than so graphics looks better, I can configure dock (2 or 3 docks also with gesture support) and better support for App2sd after reboot.
What do you use as your home enviroment ?
i use GO Launcher is very fast and simple
I use Stock TouchWiz, i've tried ADWLauncher, LauncherPro and GoLauncher, both a bit too slow for me.. But i'll give i5510's touchwiz launcher à try (For the Landscape support \o/).
The LG Optimus launcher is awesome too, but it doesn't work well on the i5800... it needs some work

depends on which version of LaunchPro do you use,
I use LaunchPRo and I think it's not slower than TW
but I was trying Go Launcher - and the phone was slower
I use zeam launcher, dock is my favorite

can you create there activities like in LauncherPro ? I think that activities and gestures with dock are the best features of Launcher Pro. And Icons 5x4 looks better then 4x4 or 5x5

Yes, i tested with older firmwares. But i will check it out with JPA
EDIT:
Apps exploring is very fast in LaunchePro but vertical scrolling doesn't likes me, i prefer horizontal.
I use LauncherPro. 8.2. Extremely fast and responsive....

go launcher is great. with ios like features.....
i have used every home replacement, but surely this is diff.
home orientation change is the fastest among all the launchers..
i have go launcher only and uninstalled all launchers even tw launcher thru titanium backup.....
I prefer them in this order :
ADW Launcher (hiding dock and resizable widgets are my favourites)
Go Launcher (a very complete package but consumes a lot of battery)
Launcher Pro (activities and swipe gestures are favourites here)
Zeam (very light weight)
Live Home (3D awesome effects)
I have all of them and keeps changing (killing all other through Task Manager) as per my mood
Launcher Pro is the best of all....

this is a nice analysis I use LauncherPro because of gestures and activities.
Which one is for you the most used one ?

ADW and then Go Launcher.
Zeam when I am running low on resources
Launcher Pro and Live Home when I need beauty over substance
And I did not like GingerBread launcher. Its just bland for its size

ADW Launcher Ex...for true customisation no other launcher even comes close! I purchased this app while back and then abandoned it but later when time came to customise my tablet, most of the setups I came across recommended using ADW. I went back to it and gosh am running the MetroUI setup currently and its awesome!
+ 1 for ADW EX
Apex launcher works great on my prime!
Lol i'm still running stock launcher .So far so good with it.

I've actually tried most all of them; Go Luncher Ex, Apex Launcher, ADWLauncher Ex, Go Launcher HD for Pad, and Nova Launcher.
I'm using Nova Launcher now. The one thing Nova Launcher does is allow me to use the entire screen. It seems that all the other launchers have very large margins on the left and right. With Nova Launcher, I can place icons and widgets right up to the edge for the screen.
Don't seem to be able to do that with the other launchers. Nova Launcher has a margin control setting.
+1 for ADW Launcher EX.
I use it for the customization.
Using HUBS on my Prime at the moment, and I love it!
This probably ought to be in the Themes and Apps forum, but I have been using Go HD for a few weeks, and I really dig it. It does glitch out every once in a while, but other than that, it has been great.

Which soda is best for killing my thirst? It's a matter of opinion!
I really like Nova Launcher. It is like what stock would be with more options. You can add rows and columns to the desktop and the drawer, resize widgets, and customize docks with scrolling and hiding, if you use them.
And Coke is the best
I used to use adw ex on tf101 with honeycomb, but adw ex doesn't work well with ics (scrolling Widgets problems) .
Now using nova and its quite nice..
Unfortunally less confifuration options and cannot resize all widgets....

+1 for ADW Launcher EX.
Anyone have the apk for ADW, think I should give it a shot? It says it's not compatible with the Prime in the Play Store.
There seems to be enough screen space to fit 5x5 icons on the homescreens instead of 4x4.
What's the easiest way to do this on a stock SGS3?
I don't think there are any mods yet to change the stock TW launcher. You might want to check out Apex Launcher or Nova Launcher if you haven't already.

In fact, TW is already modded...

Or just install another launcher such as Go Launcher.

I tried out Nova (free) for a few days, have uninstalled due to:
- icons sometimes take a while to reappear.
- Calendar / S Planner widget sometimes takes a long time to populate.
The TW mods appear to need root... so I'm back to stock TW, and realizing that I don't need more than 4x4 that badly.
I initially installed Apex launcher and like the way the settings are organized. And really like that it has the Keep in Memory setting (thought I haven't experienced any redraws with other launchers). However it's not very smooth in a number of ways. Scrolling in the app drawer going right-left, scrolling between homescreens sometimes, opening apps from home screens is often not smooth.
Nova on the other hand seems to be very good, but I'll have to pay to get all the features of Apex Free (which is fine).
Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this behavior with Apex (I've experienced the same on two other S3's).
Well …Liquid smooth on my S3
No lagging, and Apex is is best launcher ever used
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Yeah, they both have drawbacks. Nova is indeed smooth, but no dock background and is glitchy with transparent nav bar. Apex, more features, less performance. I'm stuck in a rut, because I want to change my home screen, but I'm afraid I'll have to switch to Apex. Oh well.
>-Sent From Something That's From Somewhere-<
Yes.
I have used both but I like Apex Launcher most because it is more customisable than Nova launcher.
U can also change the icons.

Its amazing.
U may like it.
U can find it on play store.

Go. Hands down the smoothest. Although battery sucker.

I would say Nova, but the new Beta version.
It's crazy fast (Set the Scroll Speed and Animation speed to "faster then light"),transparent statusbar support (the only launcher that actually made my statusbar transparent ) and has a Kit Kat look. Tons of customization. What more do you need ?
I have 2 launchers for you. First of all is Apex Launcher it's smooth and faster and the second is KitKat Launcher it's great to live KitKat experience.

Haha oh dear here we go again... just go with Apex its light on memory and has all the functions you need.
Plus this belongs in Q&A (just for future reference)

I can't believe you're discussing this...it's all matter of taste, and that's very individual. After all, all of them are free on GPlay, so try it, only you know what suits you best, and it cost nothing.
waking the dead is my thing!
any way....I have been using go launcher. found on accident. It is really neat and I am just starting to understand it fully. Now Im seeing here that apex may take up less memory?

I had Apex.. Once. Then I downloaded Nova Launcher beta and I´m still using it No regrets about it, pretty smooth and easy launcher.
Just my opinion
You should try adw launcher. It is the only one I found that has a categorized app drawer. Makes things soo much more organized. And you can just put folder-like category shortcuts on your homescreen for easy access.
Beautyful transition-effects, great dock customisations... Gove it a try, if you are looking for a new favorite launcher.

Is there a launcher that allows alphabetical listing in the app drawer like in the samsung touchwiz?
I just installed holo laucher as the first since I bought my GN3 last year. it looks smooth and very customizable as I can finally change the grid's density from 4x4 to more icons in the home screen but I miss that one column list like app drawer from touchwiz
ADW .
ADW launcher EX pro is the best launcher i found for me
it is really awesome , just try it
fast , easy , have a lot of customizations

I installed Nova and I must say I'm pretty impressed so far. I can configure the apps drawer in an alphabetical list style and much more.
One thing I find a little disappointing but that seems to be the same problem for all launchers is that the non resizable widgets are screwed up if I add them to the home screen when the grid size is changed to 5x5 or more
