mtz are zip files, and almost all the files inside them that are without extension are zip files as well.
Extract, resize the various graphics and repack.

[Request] Serendipity meets CM?

Hey everyone,
So I, like most people on XDA, flash different ROMs all the time. The problem is each ROM has one thing I like but others I don't.
However, the joy of Android is just that! You get to make your phone custom
Anyway, I really like the notification drop down bar on Serendipity. I think Mikey and Chance did a phenomenal job with it. Looks great. But I like the functionality of CyanogenMOD.
Is there anyway to port the notification drop down from Serendipity to CM7?
Thanks!

I'm doing this off memory so bear with me for any errors. On the cm rom, pick a theme that u like and find the apk for it in system/app. Pull that apk and decompile it with apk tool. Then download the ROM that u want and take systemUI.apk and framework-res.apk and decompile them. After u decompile it, look for some file names in res/drawablehdpi for the images u will want to transfer to the cm theme. Then copy them to the cm theme. I think u have to rename them, but I'm not sure what to rename them to. I will update this when I find out since I'm working on my own theme for this. After u copy them recompile the apk and sign it using apk tool and send it to your device and install it.
If u have no idea on what I am talking about search for how to make themes by jivy26 on themes and apps. Or I can help u make a port, but u would have to be willing to test because i dont feel like switching roms.
If I had money, I would get a credit card. If I had a credit card, I would donate.

Thanks for your reply. The only problem is that I've done this and cannot seem to find any corresponding images in the theme/res/drawable-hdpi directory.

In system ui in drawable there should be pictures with the labels status_bar something. There will be multiple background images and should be the toggle images. You wouldn't be able to find this if you were looking in framework-res

Wrong answer...
You could be right, but no...
That are not the default themes...
I think you should drag and drop the files from your theme into the framework file and compile and sign. That should do it.
Or do you mean a theme enabled by default but not default theme?
Greets!

Try wipe cache and dalvik, and sign correctly. I admit that it is strange.
Greets!
Edit: did you sign, compile?

Hi,
check for what exactly ?
there is nothing special .. as I said .. if I flash the ROM and the theme separately then every thing is ok ...
all I did was replace the files in the zip..and then I get stucj at bootanimation.
I didn't sign or compile...
I have a theory : the SystemUI has a battery percentage and the apk has new files in it... could it be the problem ?

First: to clarify;
you have a couple APKs for your Tab.
You place them in a flashable zip, flash, bootblock
you have a ROM for your Tab,
you grab the .zip, and replace the theme APKs, flash, and it works?
THat is really strange...
Hi,
thanks for answering me mDroidd ...
I found the problem.. it is the SystemUI.apk
I copied all the theme files to my ROM zip except that file and the device boot ok.
why does this file need to be flashed in a separate zip ?
is there another way ?

Need help for converting to 9.png

Hi guys .. i am making a theme for miui and I am absolutely hopeless with 9.pngs. I am trying to edit some 9.pngs but since miui uses mtz I cannot decompile it and therefore i cannot see the all important 1 px border. I would be grateful if someone knows a way or better still if someone could help me transform some pngs into 9.pngs ....thanks
Not sure if this helps, but you can decompile a mtz file by renaming it to a zip.

Android SDK includes a tool to do that, located at SDK/tools/draw9patch

I don't want to do it, as I'm but, I think by doing it yourself, you will learn it. And when somebody else do it, you won't take any knowledge. I suggest you to watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMf7PSkMNZw

Yes. And then you just need to ZIP it and copy to system/media/ and give it right permissions(rw-r-r)
