Hi I was wondering if someone can tell me how to get into an android device that has a lock on it. I mean if the phone has a pattern or what not and you don't know the Google account password. Please tell me how to do this. I hope I posted this in the right place.

Why are you trying to gain access to a phone that is obviously not your own?
I mean, if it was your phone, you'd at least know the Google account.

If the phone has adb/USB debugging on, it is possible to gain access to it. But only then.

What is password recovery and how do you get it? How do you do the adb way?

Is ADB Debugging turned on in the phone? If so then you can, if it is not turned on then i dont think there is a way to communicate with it.

If you ain't interested in the data residing in the internal memory, a data wipe will do the job!

I need the data to stay on the phone
Living The Good Life
if you need the data intact, then you will need linux setup like ubuntu. adb debugging on the phone. setup ubuntu for android sdk linux. Then you can use p2p adb from kos. If you dont need the data intact, then you can do as stated above, data wipe. I would just google around. im not sure how ok it is to post on this subject, so thats all im going to say. hope you get it worked out.

I was rooted on this Thunderbolt and went back to stock since the phone isn't really mine and I really didn't want to play the support role any longer. The owner of the phone now installed the latest Verizon update which is pretty good but the owners misses Wifi Tether so I agreed to re-root the phone. Everything is well until I try to do the "dd if=/data/local/misc.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p17" command in adb, the md5 checksum is an exact match but I get a permission denied error which I didn't get before.
Any idea how I can get around this? Thanks!
I had the same thing I'm not sure what was the Cuase but I did the 3 click root and worked for me hope that helps

I just used the root procedure in the development section. It worked fine. Sounds like superuser didn't take. Try again and make sure you do exactly what is written.

Hello,
I had a problem with my Motorola Xoom WiFi.
My girlfriend was playing with my tablet and trying to guess my login pattern .. she tried it too many time until xoom shows:Too many pattern attempts!
Unfortunately sign in via Google account did not worked and WiFi network was turned off.
So I am looking for way how to unlock it without root access or hard reset>> is that possible ?
Heeeeeeeeeeeeelp
it has been a day waiting !!
Since Google Sign in didn't work and you don't have root I belive the only thing you can do is hard reset.Or try turning it off (by draining its battery if you don't have another way) and then try to unlock it or Google Sign in.If that fails then proceed to factory reset.

I don't think that emptying battery is a good idea
it tooks 10h while "on play" so what do u think the time that may took when it's just in black screen and no wifi is working?!
I really need a professional or just a simpler way>>
thanks
Did you have usb debugging enabled? If so should be able to reboot your device via adb.
Edit: Also found this... http://matthewhollander.com/locked-out-of-your-android-phone/
Thanks..
Unfortunately I didn't enabled ADB>> So, is that really the end of the road!!

I think I'll give the battery a chance to be empty and try again!
unless I got a new idea
Heeeeeeeelp
no any benefit from emptying battery !!
I don't want to hard rest it !
I'm afraid you don't have a choice. Your out of options. Unless you can some how extract the memory from the device and read it through another system in order to back it up.

According to your signature you're in the wrong forum.
This is for the international i9300/i9300T
Easy UMS does not work on the kernels for the US-version since they don't include a necessary module.

You could use Wifi-based apps such as Samba Fileshare. It's easier to use since you don't actually have to plug the phone in the computer.

Here's a thread for the AT&T S3 on Mass Storage, requires some tinkering though.

Yep. It's probably not that hard to implement but not being a kernel hackers myself I honestly don't know (I always need at least 2-3 attempts to even compile a configured/patched kernel right for my freaking servers... I'm wondering when the data center techniciens are gonna get annoyed at my requests for a KVM/IP every other day on the test server *g*)

There wouldn't be any reason that I would have issues setting up my corp email using Good after flashing a new ROM would there? Just wanting to make sure before I lose access while I am away from work for a bit.
Anyone?

Well, that depends on what checking Good is doing.
My company enforces a policy with Good that checks if the device is rooted (has su/Superuser/SuperSU installed), and checks that you have PIN unlock enabled. If you're running a custom ROM, it may not work with Good.
(That's why my Galaxy Tab 2 is stock/unrooted, so I can use Good).

i flashed and good still works for me. i work at a very lax company, so im guessing they don't imply a no root policy....thats the only thing you have to worry about, besides that rooting doesn't seem to affect it
