Z902 is really rooted ? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HI,
I just got my Z902 Zero Device. This device came with a PATCH.APK that normally should root the device.
The strange thing is that for some "root" app is working , but for others don't.
Finally , i want to make some modifications to my /System , but i wasn't able to remount RW.
[email protected]:/ # mount -o remount,rw /system
mount: Read-only file system
I tried several ways to remount it , so i don't think is related to command syntax
Strange thing also , is that ADB SHELL ID :
uid=0(root) guid=0(root)
also i got the boot.img, and default.prop
#
# ADDITIONAL_DEFAULT_PROPERTIES
#
ro.secure=0
ro.allow.mock.location=1
ro.debuggable=1
persist.sys.usb.config=adb
But still not able to remount /system
Any ideas?
Thanks,

I'll answer myself , in case someone is running in the same problem.
Actually the problems seems to be a corrupt /system partition.
Solution :
I Used a 8GB sd card to install lubuntu on it. Once done , i TAR the content of my /system , and DELETE (format doesn't work) the partition, and create again.
Done that i put the contains in again , and voila
particion is RW , and i'm able to play with it
Cheers!

Apparently even easier to install the MK802 II firmware (revision 2 include uinput.ko, can't confirm this , i install the one in .com site).
Not sure if the rw was obtain in the new firmware by the flash process, or just heritage of my previous manipulation.

Hi, I understand that first you install ubuntu, than again Android, then you're root?
Could you make a manual?

You are root from the begining.
But in z902 the nandd seems to be corrupted. No need to make a manual, already exists at liliputing. Google for lubuntu install for mk802. If you dont find it, let me know and i ll post it .
Nowadays I installed cm10 and trying to get wifi working

You re root nandd is corrupted. Try this
1) download livesuite
2) put the sd card in z902
No ouput image
Wait about 1 minute
3)unplug z902 and remove sdcard
4) plug z902 to windows pc
5) install the drivers
6) flash the mk802 ii image , avoid 0912 version of it,has a bug That will not boot on second try
That should do it.
If you have further problems ,i ll try to write a procedure in next days

As far as i know Z902 it's MK802 II rebranded.
Here you have the procedure to flash this device
http://www.rikomagic.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=449
Nevertheless , for me is a LOT easier and faster to just put the sd card in the device and plug it in , and take it away 30 seconds after to put the device in rescue mode, and after that , flash with the livesuite.
I repeat , pay attention that you're not installing 2909 , is not going to boot at the second try. The original fw , as you will see is more new than the one that comes with the z902.
If you want to try 2909 , there's a workaround changing the playstore, didn't work for me.

Maybe you would find this interesting also
I achieve to install CM10 in my MK802II (a z902 actually).
I got the compatibility zip from
http://*******/DXTcY
i downloaded CM10 from the XDA christian throy topic.
i downloaded gapss from same topic.
i got the CWM5 image for livesuit (don't remember where). So, now to work.
There's a procedure that use the SD card to put the pen in recovery mode... i found usefull to put the SDCARD IN and plug the device , wait 30-60 seconds, unplug and take the sdcard (the device is going to put himself in recovery mode by itself because etc..etc..etc..)
Once this is done , plug the device to a windows computer (7 in my case). The device is going to be detected , and you can use the drivers that come with livesuit.
Once recognized use livesuit to flash the CWM img. PLUG the device to your TV (Need to use a USB keyboard , also supports USB mouse, but you will have to search on how it works).
Now you are seeing CWM. Leave it there , and put the GAPSS , CM10 and compatibility zip in the sd card. Put the SDcard in the device.
Wipe EVERYTHING you see (also in advance options).
NOTE: DOWN (DOWN),UP(UP), LEFT (SELECT),RIGHT(BACK) in the CWM.
FLASH IN THIS ORDER :
CM10
GAPSS
Compatibility
Should take a while to boot first time (more than 4 minutes is not normal in case you're wondering , if is the case , restart , you did something wrong).
I'm having a problem gettoing WIFI working , but i'm looking in to it

It took a while to get through this process but I managed. However, neither CM9 or CM10 allow you to use wifi. In CM10 you can't even turn it on and CM9, it looks like you have turned it on but nothing happens. I guess it's back to the stock 0822 ROM...

I did. The boot animation is better. It seems pretty stable but I used the 0822 img which is the best one of the bunch for me. The only thing that was weird was how it was rooted. You couldn't make any changes to the system folder.
It seems like every rom has at least one thing that is annoying and so we have to choose the one that is the best of the worst.

Thats actually the same that i ve . Is actually the one for mk802 I think, check you device info.what it says?
The rw problem is related to corrupted partition and no the rom. I formated and now I m able to rw

Newbie in applying ROM to improve performance

Hi guys, I am eyeing for improving performance of my LG OPtimus One, specially the Megatron ROM by applying cooked ROMS(probably the megatron). Unfortunately,I have less ideas yet about this due to I am still new to Android.
1. I have already rooted using Z4 for superuser
2. What to do next?
Please guide me guys......
Read here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901247
I would recommend the Nessy #Euridice ROM over Megatron....

I followed the Amon_RA recovery port..

I am confused where is ADB shell or terminal?
Download terminal from market.
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
Now I'm confused....when you say that you have followed the amon_ra recovery method, and yet you ask what is ADB... how did you do it ...
If I assume correctly, then you want to follow the amon_ra method...right?
in that case check this out :
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/what-is-adb-and-how-to-install-it-android/
for usb drivers, use the lg tool to download the usb drivers and then either install them manually or use lg tool to install them.
After that follow amon_ra method...
Guys, I am using a terminal emulator downloaded from the market which seems easier initially(In case this wont work, Ill go with hell1134's suggestion).
hell1134, sorry, I was quite confusing, I mean I am going to follow yet amon_ra
How to put the flash_image.img and recovery-RA-GNM-thunderg-1.1.0.img to the root of my SD card? It says cannot copy, write-protected or access denied... The scenario is I extracted the zip files downloaded from the site and then copy and pasted the two image files to the SD card.
Sorry, I am still newbie about these stuffs. Please help..
copy the 2 zip to root of sd
and also extract them (on sd)
then follow instructions
@ ciolnadu
Hahaha! I dont know if I got it right but I reformatted my SD card through Windows XP reformatting so it cleaned my SD card. Then I downloaded again the two zip files to my hard disk drive and extracted the two image files to the newly reformatted SD card.
Ok...now I get the picture...
To put the flash_image.img and recovery-RA-GNM-thunderg-1.1.0.img to the root of my SD card, connect your phone to your PC with usb cable. A notification will come on your phone where there will be an option to " turn on USB storage " -> select/click it.
It will immediately turn orange and there will be another option to " turn off USB storage ". Do not click it.
Yor phone will be recognised as mass storage device by your PC. Copy the flash_image.img and recovery-RA-GNM-thunderg-1.1.0.img files to the mass storage ( like any other usb storage device like pen drive ). MAKE SURE IT IS NOT PLACE IN ANY FOLDER.
Now on the phone click " turn off usb storage " on phone and disconnect from your PC.
Well...that puts those files to your sd card's root.
Edit: Oops ... guess was a bit late ..
One advice....try to format the SD card via phone settings...might remove most sd card related problems.
@ hell1134
That is what I did and they are pasted now =)
Now I am using the Terminal Emulator and Wifi Keyboard to follow and apply the terminal codes (quite confusing for a newbie indeed but I should manage ^^ ). Now the problem is I am stuck with the code:
# mv /system/etc/install-recovery.sh /system/etc/install-recovery.sh.bak
It says, "failed on '/system/etc/install-recovery.sh' - No such file or directly
What shall I do guys? Am I missing something?
Update:
Quoted from "Getitnowmarketing" answering to the same experienced from another user there:
You dont want that file there as it keeps recovery from "sticking" its not in all roms usually there ater you do an ota update. That command removes it. If its not there move on to next step.
>.< So seems my ROM hasnt it, so I must proceed to the next command
Update:
I am already rebooted to the Recovery Menu. I'm so excited hahaha!^^ (noob me)
I am doing a Nand Backup + Ext + Android Secure
Ill keep you updated guys. Thanks!

[Q] Archos 101 G9 300Mb ROM limit?

After suffering for many months from terrible performance and performance that gets progressively worse, I've finally decided to abandon the stock ROMs (been through every single one since February 2012) and go with Clean&Slim (hoping it lives up to its name).
I also have this annoying problem with the "Indexing Files" which never stops and eventually crashes the tablet event with the very latest ROM .....28. So started this morning...
I've done the SDE thing and was about to push Clean_Slim&FastV02 to the tablet but realised that the recovery partition presented to Windows is only 300Mb and the ROM is 375Mb.
How do I get around this for a G9 ?
Thanks
You are doing it wrong. Did you read the install guide?
connect USB cable ( PC <-> Tablet ) ;
unzip Clean_Slim&FastV02.zip.zip
put archos.ext4.update in your device, or > adb push archos.ext4.update mnt/storage/
go to recovery SDE and Remove Android kernel if you have already installed any official firmware !
go to Flash kernel & Initramfs and copy here zImage and initramfs.cpio.lzo -> in the new driver that appeared !
Ok ! ... & wait to boot !

broken Webtop (atrix 4g)

Hello! I'm new here and I don't know where to write about it. So, I have atrix and laptopdock. Also I have Tegra2Ubuntop there and everything worked very well. But now, when I insert my atrix into dock I see..... standard desktop!!! When I type sudo gpaint or sudo dosbox these programs doesn't start. That is to say all my programms damaged. Although I can see old folders such as lxdepanel or lxde. File manager show me these directories: 1) adas ; 2) desktop ; 3)MOT ; 4) 9.8 GB Volume; 5)SD/MMC Drive, But I don't see directory OSH. Before it, I tried to run ubuntu linux. I followed by instructions from Complete Linux installer. I think I damaged webtop (which is on my flash card) by using android terminal. (While I tried to run Linux) What I should to do? Please HELP ME !
P.S. Hope you understand me.

You've said in both posts something to the effect of a damaged/destroyed/edited /osh partition. Start with the basics. Flash the sbf, then test your phone on the lapdock to ensure it works. Then work from there and rebuild your device the way you want it.

only one note. My atrix and webtop work well (but the last with the standard environment) "Flash the sbf" - Now I'm really afraid to destroy my atrix. But the main thing I understood - I should reinstall it.

Sbfs aren't that scary if you are using the ones made for your region. But yes, reinstalling is the end result

ok, I have linux on my PC and when I connect my atrix I can get access to osh. I have 16 Gb flash drive and I think to format osh into ntfs. So I will have flash card 16Gb volume. (ntfs) (now it's 9.8 gb ntfs and 4 gb osh). And try to reinstall again
Good luck with NTFS. Honestly, it seems you don't really know what you're doing and you're about to make your situation even worse. But I could be wrong.
hmm.... you are right! I'm not sure with it. So I try to get a good advice from xda
Ok, let me recap to see if we are missing something here.
First of all, do not touch the /osh partition in any way other than flashing something. You wil break a lot of things if you do so and maybe end up with a nice, hi-tech battery powered paperweight.
Now. You said that linux on android destroyed your webtop yet somehow you can load it up..?
Third: is very unlikely that s tool designed for all kind if android phones just smashed through an very rare(as in only two devices of the thousands) partition thats not standard.
If you installed ubuntop, what prevents you from installing it again?

If I understood right, so.... Yes, I can run webtop. Open PDF, launch Firefox and so on. (But it's not a TegraUbuntop! just standart environment)
Second, It's my supposition that Complete Linux Installer (exactly android terminal) has destroyed /osh.
I must to confess.... the other guy has installed Ubuntop, not me.
And now I have Android 2.3.6 with Webtop 1.3 but If I install (flash) android 4.x ICS so, I have webtop 3.0 . But what's better? Reinstall ubuntop or install android 4x ICS ? Or you have other ideas?
Aaaaaahhhh
Now I get it. Ubuntop was installed on a second partition on the external sd card, that's why you can load the original webtop, because is in internal sdcard partion.
You got 3 options.
1) Remove linux on android (which also uses external sdcard's second partition, that's why your ubuntop got overwritten) and install ubuntop again (using webtop2sd, all the info is in the forums).
2) Upgrade to atrics (or icsrom) which is the only firmware that has webtop 3.0. Beware, because webtop 3.0 is only android with a tablet interface, not a linux fesktop as original webtop.
3) keep the original webtop and linux4android

I know about it. But it seems quite dangerous. I can destroy my atrix.

Come one dude, get over yourself. Either you want to fix it or you don't. You've been given plenty of advice, now quit whining and do something about it.

it's my last question. And then I'll act
It looks like you need to learn URGENTLY about filesystems, mounts and mountpoints, before you destroy everything. Your /osh is most definitely NOT 4GB in size, what you're looking at is another part of the filesystem (could be anywhere but is most likely on your external SD card) that just happens to be attached to /osh.
hm ok. By the way, I'll use webtop2sd, but webtop has been already transferred to external Sd card! What I need to do? Ext3 already exist. And if I insert new Sd card?

Webtop2sd has already been transferred? Ok then why are we still dealing with this issue? You chose a method given by andresrivas, now finish setting up your webtop setup. And what do you think will happen if your phone is setup to read something from an sd card, and suprise! The sd card isn't there? Hint - file not found ring a bell? This is really basic stuff and you're turning it into an "i'm a noob and wants everyone else to fix my mistake and do the legwork to get info to my questions" session.
Sent from my MB886 using xda app-developers app
Just skip the webtpo2sd setup and carry on to next step.
Do not touch the osh partition on internal sd.
You should read about how linux mounts storage devices onto the filesystem so you can get an idea about what's going on there and act accordingly

Want to move to CM11 .. Help

I am currently on 4.1.2 10-20121209-UNOFFICAL-acclaim ROM
I want to move to CM 11.
My current recovery is CWM - Recovery v6.0.1.9
ON all CM 11 page , it says to update my recovery to new one through fastboot.
I am not sure how to do this on nook tablet. Can anyone help me ?
Also does repartitioning of 16Gb needs to done with each rom install or once done , it stays the same through out ?

Hi, repartitioning doesnt need to be done with a new rom install.
IF THIS IS A CLEAN INSTALL
you dont HAVE to install it through flashing a new recovery using fastboot
you just need a working newer CWM , or a working TWRP that you can boot
if you can boot to an older Clockwordmod recovery in any form, you can flash a newer version of CWM to the internal by using a zip file , this user has a couple of the newest ones hosted here:

after you flash the new recovery, remove the SDcard, power completely down,
press and hold the "N" NOOK button, and hold the power button for just a second or 2 after you see the tablet boot, and you should be prompted for the new recovery that you just flashed.
---
the newer recoveries have an option on the boot menu to start fastboot. So, if you really wanted to follow the instructions to the letter, get or make a working sd card of a newer CWM recovery, boot to it, then as long as your adb/utilities folder on your PC has fastboot in it, you can fastboot the recovery-0.2.img as is in the cm11 thread.
I found I never had to use fastboot before this cm11 install , so I didnt even have the fastboot on my pc side and had to hunt it down.
my first several installs of CM11 were done using an older boot sdcard that had TWRP recovery on it and it works fine.
----
it will probably be a lot easier it you have a working tablet, to have the copied the zips for cm11 and the gapps you want to install to the tablets
internal memory first, before flashing the new recovery internally
---------- (I completely forgot this other possibility, I'm always just doing clean installs)
IF YOU WANT CM to automatically upgrade though the CM updater process on a running CM10
then , yes you need the newer recovery, and it probably is best if it is the recovery-0.2.img the developer posted in the CM11 thread.
I've never tried it so I dont know how well it migrates your "stuff" from CM10 to CM11
theres a lot of changes to the way storage is mounted in CM11 , and the CM updating process is an important thing they are trying to make as seamless as possible.
If theres stuff on the tablet you really need, I'd save it first before doing any kind of major upgrade like this.
Thanks. I might do a clean install itself. I dont have much stuff.
Actually i am moving to CM 11 in hope that it would be faster. Currently i cant rad the PDF on thios tablet. The scrolling is very stuttery.. gives me headache. If that too doesnt solve that issue , i might simply sell this one and get some nexus tablet.
I just need a tablet to read my study books.

the latest nightlies of CM11 on a 16GB tablet (has 1GB RAM) are fantastic. best thing ever, especially if you replace the kernel with one that user:demetris has supplied.
I havent run the CM11 on an 8GB (512MB RAM) tablet yet, but it really is a good package.
Its kinda like when Windows 7 came out, its what should have been released instead of XP or Windows 98, its really, really good.
Just tell me .. is flashing recovery via fastboot is same for all devices or for nook tablet its different. Also i need a SD card to do this ?
Can you help me how to flash recovery via fastboot for our nook tablet ?

hmmm...
Ive seen fastboot on other devices, Kindle Fires, which I think have a motherboard thats a close match to the NOOK tablet.
on the Kindle, you can force fastboot by using a special cable.
if you need fastboot on the NOOK, the recovery program that you execute at boot has to have the option to start fastboot.
you can boot a recovery that has that option from an internal recovery (CWM newer versions have it, I dont remember about older versions)
or you can boot from an SD card you make that boots a CWM recovery
in any scenario, for fastboot to work, you need a working ADB setup and the fastboot program on your PC
------
you can completely install CM11 without replacing the internal recovery partition of your NOOK which is what that fastboot instruction is trying to get you to do.
the special internal recovery, as I understand it, is only for compatability with the automated CM updating process.
you can boot from an SD card that has CWM 6.0.4.x , or TWRP , and as long as the CM 11 nightly is on the SDcard too, or in the NOOK internal memory, you can flash it.
I am more confused
can you take me step by step or link me to a relevant thread ?
I am sorry if i am taking your time ..

--------- assuming you want to update your NOOK's INTERNAL software, and not run CM11 from an SDcard
I apologize had wrong file linked first post
this zip file should be flashable through your current CWM (6MB)
http://www.mediafire.com/download/0f5fjkjvxp1hga0/flashable_CWM_6.0.4.5(2).zip
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48855275&postcount=2
it should update your internal recovery to cwm 6.0.4.5
then you should be able to flash the CM11 nightly and gapps without error
--------------------------
a different (I think slightly more dangerous) way to load the newer recovey to your internal was posted here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48317620&postcount=15
get the newest recovery image file -
File: http://goo.im/devs/chrmhoffmann/cm-11.0/acclaim/recovery-0.2.img
md5sum: e2a87c433171b3d97d852d27aea1ff49
-------
You can install it from a terminal emulator, if you want to.
1. Download the cwm-recovery.img file referenced in the first post of the thread.
2. Copy this file to the internal memory of your Nook Tablet. Rename this file to cwm.img.
3. On your Nook Tablet, launch Android Terminal Emulator (ATE).
4. In ATE, type in 'su' [ENTER]. Grant it access when prompted.
5. In ATE, type in 'cd /emmc' [ENTER]. This will change your file system current directory to /emmc, which corresponds to the internal storage drive.
6. In ATE, type in 'ls' [ENTER]. This will list the contents of the /emmc directory. You should see the cwm.img file you copied over and renamed earlier (step 2).
7. In ATE, type in 'dd if=/emmc/cwm.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3' [ENTER]. This will write the contents of the cwm.img file to partition 3 of device mmcblk0 (internal memory).
You should now be able to reboot and use cwm. CAREFUL, as you could brick your device if you get step 7 wrong.
nvm
@mikeataol
It worked perfectly. Just flashed it and it udpated to lastest CWM.
Installed CM 11 and got GApps and installed them too. Now downloading some PDF apps to see if they work smoothly and no stuttering is there.
In CM 11 , there is no option for "reboot to recovery" , why so ? I had to use cnyaboot option to enter into recovery.

re: reboot recovery
you have to unlock developer options first by going into
Settings/ About Tablet / Build Number
and tapping the "build number" field 7 times.
then you see a new settings group "developer options",
and in there is advanced reboot and other things.
---------- Post added at 04:24 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:21 AM ----------
are you on an 8GB / 512 MB ram, or a 16GB 1GB RAM Nook tablet?
Lol , just found that reboot to recovery , came here to say i found , you already replied.
Installing bexus kernel.
Thanks a lot for your help.
One thing though. The scroll stuttering issue is there . Its as if the screen refresh rate or frames per second is not upto the mark , scrolling is very stuttering.
Is there any way to increase or solve this issue ? Please
this is killing the whole tablet and the purpose i want to use this tablet .. ie to read books.
I use 16Gb/1GB tablet
ok ran into issue
After flashing gapps and installing kernel , i am stuck with andoid.phone stopped working error as soon as the tablet boots.
What is the gapps to be used for CM 11 on tablet and is bexus interfering with the gapps ?
how to enable multi touch ?
Also i think there is a serious problem with the screen/display. There is considerable lag and its not smooth scrolling. Its very stuttery...

I would not enable the multi touch, thats just asking for even more trouble.
I think you should consider a total re wipe , and start over
on a 16GB Nook Tablet, the nightly just by itself should run fine
i just downloaded and opened a 71mb pdf file with no issues whatsoever
opens in Adobe reader just fine, scrolling and zooming and searching is perfectly acceptable, nothing I would describe as a stutter
----
if you HAD enabled the multi touch while you were on CM10, I'd consider reflashing the stock LCD firmware before you put CM11 back on it
yeah flashed thrice and i have witheld flashing bexus kernel for time being.
Stutter in the way , the refresh rate is not upto the mark
To best see this issue , dont swipe a text/pdf fast , do it slowly then you will see the jerkiness and also a lag between your swiping and actual screen change.
LCD firmware ? where to get it ?

to me, seeing a white page while adobe pdf loads the next buffer of pages several pagesahead is normal
I dont see anything abnormal while swiping slowly
re: LCD firmware
if you were on CM10, and fashed the 10 point LCD firmware, then I think you would need to rebuild the unit back to CM10, and reflash the stock LCD firmware.
I dont know how to explain , but look carefully when scrolling (slowly) , you will see tests stuttering as its been scrolled .
I am on CM 11 , do you want me to go to CM 10 ? and flash that firmware?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aatt.fpsm&hl=en
Used this app and saw that fps varies and it varies like from 7 - 50 during reading pdf.
On slow scrolling of pdf , it only shows 11 or so fps , which is why i think shows the stuttering effect
Used the same app on my GS3 to see the difference and it holds its FPS at 60+ and not dropping below 50.
I think if i can make this tablet to render everything at 30+ fps i might not feel this stuttering effect.
Which PDF reader are you using?
I don't have any stuttering issue on the Mantano Reader.

Install on Hard Disk without create partition?

Until now I was testing Remix on a flash drive, most of the stuff is running great, so I think it's time to try it on the HD.
So here's the question, it's possible to install RemixOS on HD without create partition?
I want Remix to be installed in a regular folder in my HD, with an option to select it in the OS selector when PC starts, and I want it to use data.img instead of something else... Basically just like Phoenix OS.
Is this possible?
Thx..
Cheers...

dude, all you need to do is to look on jide's web
For Hard Disk Installation:
NOTE: Currently, installation tool only supports Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10, with a minimum capacity of 8GB. Users of other operating systems, please install on USB flash drive.
1. Download the Remix OS for PC package, which contains the Remix OS for PC ROM & Installation Tool.
2. Open the Remix OS Installation Tool and follow the instructions to install Remix OS for PC on your hard disk.
3. Reboot your PC.
NOTE for UEFI boot: press special key (F12 for Dell, F9 for HP, F12 for Lenovo, Option Key for MAC) while booting to enter boot menu and ensure that Secure Boot is disabled.
4. Select Remix OS in Windows Boot Menu.

Thanks, I already saw this...
But in this guide it's not clear what the installation tool will do, if it will create partitions, if it will format something etc... Take the USB installation as an example, I never thought it would create 3 partitions on it...
That's why I'm asking this... Besides, I saw many people unable to boot into Windows after some sort of HD installation of Remix.
Have you tried this method of installation?
If yes, how is the structure of the directory, what files are in there, is it using data.img?

The hard drive installation will create a folder called "RemixOS" and add a boot entry for it in the Windows boot loader. In that folder is the kernel, initrd.img, system.img, menu.lst and some other files. An 8 GB data.img will be created on first boot. Those who have problems with booting are typically using a third-party method to install it.

It appears that for the issue mentioned in the link you posted the solution is to simply disable Secure Boot. I don't have much experience with UEFI myself, but on a BIOS system the installer worked perfectly, it didn't break either Windows or Linux Mint.

I expanded the data.img using this tutorial (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/android-tp2/138623-how-get-bigger-data-img.html). Don't mind the fact that it was originally made for Windows Mobile devices running Android on SD card, the concept is the same (add zeros to the end of data.img, then expand the partition table in the data.img to cover the extra space).

Where I can choose this, in the installation tool?
And does it take too long to boot? I'm asking this because I expanded the data.img of Phoenix OS, and since then it takes a lot more time to boot.

nope, as long as your data.img is much smaller than your actual harddisk, you will have no problems with speed.
yes, the instalation tool asks you what size you want to use, either 8, 16 or 32 GB can be chosen
