Hi, I got my atrix 4g unlocked and rooted a few days ago, and I flashed the latest Neutrino rom V2.9 EE. Everything seems to be fine except for I get worse battery life than stock rom (2.3.6). So I went to the OTA and there's an update 2.91, I thought that might be helpful. After I click install, the phone just rebooted to recovery mode (I have the latest romracer recovery), but what do I do from there? Where is the update file and what do I do with it? Anyone has some instructions?

I think that RomRacer recovery is not compatible with OTA. Team Win Recovery Project is, and you can install by following the instructions on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1400641
You can install using RomRacer, but you have to do it manually. If I'm not mistaken, the downloaded ROM is inside /emmc/cmupdater (or /sdcard/cmupdater).

Thanks! I want to go with romracer, since I'm new to this thing and I prefer not to mess with another recovery. So do I just use "install from internal storage" to flash it, just like I flashed the rom and addons?

Yep!
When you feel more comfortable with recoverys, rom, etc, try TWRP, it has a touch interface, is very nice.

awesome. I flashed it today. it didn't seem to help with the battery life though. I need to find out what's draining my battery. it's strange I didn't install many apps after I flashed it.

I just returned to Neutrino 2.6 EE (based on CM7.2 RC1). After updating with Neutrino after all these months, I decided to go back to the version that just satisfied me the most with speed, appearance, long battery life (sometimes three days without charging), and outright reliability. CWM 5.0.2.7--not the latest release--is the most reliable recovery version too.
Thats weird, cause the first time I tried updating it did what you all claim but I rebooted and tried again and it worked. I am running the neutrino v2.9 gt with rom racer so it is compatible.

Has anyone flashed this kernel?
I downloaded this from the link at the top, and flashed via TWRP recovery (yes I did wipe the caches).
After I rebooted, I checked the Kernel version, and either it didn't work, or the version of this kernel is the same as the original one I had, 1.11.651.3. In fact, I tried this twice, but the results are still the same.
Am I missing something?

Do you have hboot 1.5? Just asking because there are ~2 more steps to take before flashing a kernel... Or I heard you can use Flash Image GUI.

I flashed a AOSP kernel, and my rom didn't load. so I restored a backup and my wifi didn't work and also. So i flashed this kernel and now my backup doesn't work or even any rom that I have downloaded.
using viperrom before.
now nothing is working
questions is:
1. is there a way to flash a kernel, using recovery?
2. what roms work with this kernal?
im getting really sick of this evo3d.

1. Yes, so long as you are NOT HBOOT 1.5
2. This is a stock HTC Sense kernel as clearly outlined in the OP. It is not AOSP.

yeah I have Hboot 1.5
and I know I installed a kernel for AOSP and downloaded an AOSP rom. I should have said that before. but The AOSP rom didnt load, it just hanged on the HTC screen. So i recovered my backup using still on the AOSP kernel, it worked excluding WIFI and some other stuff. so I installed this kernel using GUI app, and restored my back up again. and now it just hangs.
now I can't find a rom for this kernel I downloaded three different roms, all sense. none of them are working.

Hey guys, there is a flashable zip file that contains various scripts to improve your phone's performance, called TweaksZV6. It has various tweaks and hacks to improve smoothness, live wallpapers, etc...
REQUIREMENTS:
*Custom Rom that supports init.d! Otherwise you will get an installation error!
NOTICE:
*Most of the people who have flashed this get an error at first, but flash for a 2nd or 3rd time and it will flash normally!

I'm using a custom ROM, EcipzeRemix's Speed ROM and I get the same Installation Aborted error. Hmm, might have to look at it later.
EDIT: Well that was quick. I figured it out. I looked at the script and found that if you have 4ext recovery (this probably applies to other recoveries, idk), you have to go to Mounts and Storage and mount /system and /data in order to have the script successfully flashed.

1000% this works. Say what you will about Quadrant, Im just using for reference. I consistantly hit 2900 and 3100 (ran 5 times) after reading this and doing a reboot. I found at this point screen shot is not working on ARHD. I then rebooted into recovery and ran all six zips. I have no pulled up to 3653. I'm impressed
ı installed just tweakv6.We should install all tweaks(1,2,3,4,5,6) ??
This flashed on ARHD 2.2.1 although it took 3 times. Noticeable difference including the Quadrant score, 3500ish and Nenamark2 50 fps (I think this one is due to new Adreno drivers)

Dear reader,
I've currently been using Cyanomod for 2.3.7 Gingerbread.
My phone is rooted and everything (which took a little while )
Everything is running perfectly fine, but i would like to update my phone to android 4.0+ (whatever the lastest compatible version might be)
How should i go about this?
Do i basically uninstall everything and start from scratch or is there an easy method to quickly update my phone to android 4.
Kind Regards and Thank you for your time!
I believe the answer us first to backup your apps with titanium backup if you need them. Then go to recovery and backup your current Rom. (always be sure to do this). from recovery wipe factory reset and dalvik cache. Then install your new Rom from zip.
You cannot install an android 4.0 + over another version. Always backup and wipe.

Rom's are pre rooted (expect stock, stock BASED roms ARE pre-rooted), once you've installed the rom through cwm, it will be rooted and ready.

If your bootloader is unlocked, you can easily flash a custom kernel (Based on ics, so it'll be compatible with ics rom) And boot into recovery, and flash a custom rom based on ics.

Which one would any of you, recommend for me to use ?

If your finding trouble with compatible roms are you saying your getting bootloops when trying them?, because a different Android Version requires a different kernel, So if you haven't or forget to flash the kernel recommended or provided then that would possibly be where your compatibility issues lye as you will get bootloops if you don't and you are changing version. As Mikii suggested earlier.

Ahhh that must be it then.. I've been using the same kernel for quite some time now because it was quite a hassle to flash it. Different roms come with different kernels (at times). The fastest way to flash a kernel is to use the program called flashtool, click on the lightening bolt, select Fastboot mode, then select kernel to flash find the kernel you want to flash and it should be done within literally 2 seconds. once Flashtool gives you the all clear, disconnect your phone from usb, restart phone, and there you go, the old kernel will be overwritten, and so will that kernel's cwm version, with the one from the new kernel.
Try FXP138

2.3.35.14
GINGERBREAD.UCKK6
sorry but I dont generally mess with her phone , she does have root and cwm touch 5.5.0.4 . There seems to be a wifi problem it turns on and then off , never sticking , I suppose wiping all might help , I hate seeming naive but when I mess with my own phone its all a chance , I dont want to just do that with hers!
There are a lot of stable roms. Do you want touchwiz based or AOSP based? I don't have an opinion on AOSP roms because I've barely used any of them.
For Samsung based roms, Shoman94's roms are very stable and popular. That's what I use as my daily driver. For ICS, use SHOstock2, but for the latest JB use SHOstock3.

If I remember correctly, I think that version of the Siyah kernel was put out by zedomax on GalaxyS2Root website. That kernel combined with UCKK6 was always a problem. In fact, that package was always a problem.
Anyway, the kernel has ClockworkMod Recovery. You should decide on a good rom, as discussed above, download the zip file and use usb to transfer it to the sdcard on the phone, then boot into recovery, perform a wipe data/factory reset, and flash the rom. It doesn't matter that you are on Gingerbread right now. You can flash either an ICS or JellyBean rom because the package will contain the complete system and kernel and modem, everything.
---------- Post added at 07:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:08 PM ----------
Enter recovery by holding down all three of vol + vol - and power buttons continuously until it boots into recovery. If it won't boot into recovery, then it might be a bad flash.
Thank you, I got the siyah kernel from a thread here, when I first got the phone (off ebay )it did in fact have the wrong kernel,I used entropy flash back to get back,I guess I did something else, but I will use one of the roms you mentioned ,glad we have you here ,I've been messing with wp7 the last few years and finally getting back to android (cept been playing with boot loaders in a500)

It is exactly that, a counter, and the only purpose of it as far as we know is warranty protection, so I would say no, it's not important. On the other hand, most folks don't like the splash screen with the yellow triangle, but you can remove that easily enough if you still get it on boot.

Thanks a million.
I have been trying to flash Imonseyon leankernel v5.1 for awhile now and I'm having issues... I don't know if the link doesn't work or what the deal is. I want the 184v undervolt bc I have been having crazy battery drain.. Everytime I flash it I get a status 2 in TWRP. Any suggestions..

What rom are you using?
If it's a Sense based GB rom, did you grab the Sense kernel?
If it's an AOSP GB rom, did you grab the Aosp kernel?
If it's an ICS rom, it won't work.
***EDIT
Via TWRP website:
Since TWRP 2.3 is based on AOSP jelly bean sources, TWRP now uses recovery API 3 instead of 2. Some zips may no longer work if the developer is using an out-of-date update-binary.
This API change should not be a problem on newer devices, but older devices will probably encounter several zips that need to be updated.
If needed, you can try using this update-binary that was compiled with current sources.
It goes in your zip file in the META-INF/com/google/android folder. If you're getting a status error 2 during zip install, then an outdated update binary is almost certainly to blame.

Ok thank you so much! FAST response lol. Would there be another recovery that is better to use or it doesn't matter?? Currently I am using your, I believe, ICS rooted debloated ROM stock/rooted. I was on liquidsmooth aosp and cm7 thundershed switching between them to get a feel for them... But for some reason I tried to do a full wipe and then reinstall from my restore of those two roms and try the leankernal, it's saying failed after I updated to TWRP 2.4.3
**EDIT:
Where is that zip you are talking about located.. In /system or somewhere else bc I can't seem to find it?
There is a backup bug in the latest release of Twrp. Switch to 4ext and your backups may work again. Someone posted on the n7 he could restore backups in Twrp from the previous version with the version he made them with but restoring backups on the latest version couldn't restore those

Thank you!
4ext is definitely the way to go on the Thunderbolt. Best recovery ever, wish the Gnex had it.

The zip I was referring to, was the kernel zip you were trying to flash.
And if you have run my rom, you should know I suggest using 4ext recovery.
It's mentioned in all my rom OP's.

Good luck with the 184mhz, I can not use that on my phone, always does the deep sleep of death.... thats not a good thing.
As for a ROM, I always suggest one of Santod's ... really any of them lol

Dude so far no problems with 184mhz.. Speed is no issue, no lag, no reboots, but I'll have to put it through the 24hr test to fully see how it does. And I charge my battery to 100% when installed it, approx. 4hr 41mins with pretty much none stop usage.. at 72% now. On the old kernal I would have been dead..
