I am using Sony W8 with stock kernel. When I tried to install the Ginger DX v029, problems occured. I used CWM to install this rom with following steps:
1. Install custom rom -> reboot phone. Unfortunately, my phone got freeze when it booted to the gingerdx icon. I tried to reinstall many times but the problem was not solved.
2. wipe out-> install custom rom-> reboot. This time, the phone can boot to the main menu but the system file "has stop working"
Anyone know about these problems? Please help me!
Can anyone help me pls!!!

Hi guys,
i have decided that i install new ROM to my device.
Device :
xperia x10 mini pro, U20i, 2.1-update1, 2.1.1.A.0.6
My device is ROOTed - i have used SUPER ONE CLICK, i have installed BUSYBOX from the Market, and i have got xRecovery.
I have downloaded ROM - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059361
I have copied it to my SD card, turn off the phone, turn on the phone,on the SE logo i have touched BACK button => i get into xRecovery.
I have update .zip file from sd card- everything done. Reboot device. (i have tried- wipe cache, -factory reset, -reboot, but problem still last)
Device has turned off, turned on, there was SE logo, than just black display, so i have waited long time - about 20-25 minutes, but there was still just black display, phone simetimes vibrated but nothing else.
I have restored my system using xRecovery.
Please help me somebody,i want this ROM but i can not do that.
Sorry form my english.

Hi guys !
I have installed v.5 .That version works correctly. I have tried to install v. 6 after v.5 but that brokes again at SE logo after reboot.
I want to ask, how get i Hotfixes to the system ? I have downloaded Hotfix .zip files, but i do not know how i should apply that.
Thanks
You can install Hotfixes through CWM or xRecovery. Just go to option instal custom zip and choose the Hotfix you want.

I have tried to do it. But it can not install Hotfix, that notices some error, i have tried two, or three Hotfixes, but that still notices some error.
I have read that there can be some problems with installing .zip files, i have found it in FAQ ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1066824 )
"
I CAN'T INSTALL CUSTOM.ZIP ON CWM RECOVERY BUT WITH XRECOVERY I CAN...
This script it's amend script, so it need to be translated to edify script for work on CWM recover
"
This should be my problem, i think...
How can i translate script to work in CWR ?
Thx

So, i do not understand. That brokes in CWM when i have tried to apply Hotfix. CWM notices some script problems.
I am going to try it again later.
As you did with the rom, use EXACTLY the same procedure except the wiping (wipe cache, battery stats, factory reset).
That's how you install a hotfix
Guys, I'm with some problems (everything works fine for everyone, except for me) with CWM Recovery, it's crash backuping and don't install any custom ROM.
So, I would like to know if there's any method to install one custom ROM using the PC. Anyone knows?
Mine never crashed once in that cwm installation. maybe you have a corrupt cwm or something?
try it from the beginning. use the batch script here on this thread
ClockWorkMod Installer - Windows v4 - Linux v4
and see if it works now.
i guess you would have manually installed cwm.
i dont think there is a way to use the pc to install roms unless a dev steps up to do that. try the basics and see if it works.
IF you still experience crashing try flashing the whole phone using SE update service and then go from the base. it was easy to do that (through my experience i found that).
Good luck with the recovery
Tim
The problem it that I've just had flased it and installed with this CWM Installer. It started having problems after I tried to install the CM 7, when I was with Ginger. DX v6 or v9, I don't remembered.
And the xRecovery started with problems after that too. I've installed ArcMini Theme with it well, but after the Ginger.DX, I couldn't do ANYTHING!
Oh, and sorry for English.
I don't thing it will possible or easy to install via PC & you should first go for xrecovery, install ROM like froyobread (which having simple installation process) & will also install updated CWM recovery automatically. Then you can replace this ROM with any other ROM & remember now you have CWM as well as xrecovery.......enjoy
add me

I'm searching for that also, So if you found any way to do that kindly inform me.
I have Cyanogedmod 7.1.0.1 from 2.3.4. I can install this and work 100% fine. But when I try to install other which this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1281489, that happens is that when I install and boot the rom, it stop in the S.E logo.
¿What i can do?
¿Is by the kernel?
¿Can anyone help me? Thanks.
Try and install the stock kernel again, that should fix your problem. The reason you are getting a bootloop is that the kernel for the CM7 mod is not made to work with the stock rom.
Hope that sorts it out for you
I have resolved it a long time ago.
Yeah, in fact it was the problem. I flashed 2.3.4 and now i can install other roms and restore my backup.
Hey guys,
actually I didn't want to create a thread for this as I thought I might resolve it myself or that I'll find the answer elsewhere.. But after 5 attempts with each different methods, I don't know what to try anymore.
I have the Xperia MIni (st15) and I want to try the Smultronic ROM. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1796272). My attempts looked like this:
I flashed the ICS .587 stock ROM via Flashtool to get a clean thing to start with (including full wipe)
I root by flashing the .562 kernel, run the Doomlord script to gain root access and reflash the .587 stock kernel
I install CWM (xparts or cwm-install script, both works and doesn't make any difference)
I choose the smultronic 5.0 ".zip" in CWM (no wipe) and follow the instructions in Aroma installer. (Unlocked Bootloader chosen, as I have one).
The installation finishes successfully after a few seconds (!) and I am proposed to reboot.
The result of this is that my phone will get stuck at the SONY screen (>20 min.), which up to my knowledge means that there is no boot process for a ROM, just the bootloader showing it is alive.
I tried a bunch of things, like starting from a "used" stock ROM, fully wipe the system (+Dalvik) before starting the installation or choosing another Recovery installation method. No problem to recover any stock rom, but Smultronic still don't want to start when I try the above again.
I really feel a bit stupid, as this ROM is actually made for my particular device, and I don't manage to install it. Anyone finds the error?
Thanks a lot.

If your bootloader is unlocked, why are you using xparts to install cwm instead of a custom kernel?
To your problem, boot in cwm, do the wipe data/factory reset, install the rom, reboot and see what happens. If it's not working, flash another custom kernel or download an older version of the rom...
