[q] need help! Half-hard bricked galaxy s3

After installing CyanogenMod 11 on my Galaxy S3, Play Store stopped working. I haven't found 4.4.2 Gapps so I flashed GApps for 4.3.
When it booted it said "Setup Wizard has stopped". Launcher hasn't worked but I could still run Settings. I downgraded to CyanogenMod 10.2 (And 4.3). Now I have a bootloop with no recovery and bootloader. What can I do now? Can I restore it like a normal hard brick?
Please, help!!!

1- download latest cm11 + PAGapps ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942) + In case u wanna use a custom kernel make sure that it supports latest cm11 with r3p2 Mali driver + make sure u have latest recovery installed.
2- go to recovery and make a full wipe 0R flash Mega wipe in case u don't know how to ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1832326)
3- Install custom kernel ( only if u wanna use one if not skip this step)
4- Install cm11
5- Install PAGapps 4.4.2 (latest)
6- Reinstall custom kernel again (Skip this step if ur using the stock CM 11 kernel)
7- Reboot.
By the way ur just stuck in a Boot loop due to incompatibility issues not bricked.
Oh crap I didn't read the last two lines -.- It seems ur bricked.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Download mode yes .
No then its worth trying a usb recovery jig before paying for a repair .

[Q] CM 11 EXPERIMENTAL NiGHTLY - Error status 7

------------- SOLVED! --------------
Hello all,
First of all I want to say I'm pretty new to flashing ROMs etc.
Currently I'm at stock 4.3 Jellybean and I want to flash my SGS3 to the new CM 11 ROM.
I rooted my phone following this tutorial: vvvvvv.telefoonrooten.nl/samsung/samsung-galaxy-s3-root/ (sorry if its in Dutch, but it uses the CF-Root-SGS3-v6.3 and Odin).
After I rooted I copied both the CM11 ROM and GAPPS to my external SD, I went to recovery and tried to install the new custom ROM but I got an error (status 7) and it was aborted.
Also if I try to reboot it won't boot normally as it should be but it goes back to recovery mode automatically...
I fixed to get back to Jellybean by flashing the stock rom (unrooting?) it via Odin.
Anyone else got the exact same problem as I do and knows a solution to be able to flash CM 11?
Thanks in advance,
Steelbear

please read the thirst post in a rom/kernel/whatever thread. and maybe if you havent done it already you should also read the stickies in general section.
FAQ (Read before post !!)
- If you obtain Error 7 when you tried to install ROM in CWM or TWRP
Install the latest version of CMW or TWRP

BTW latest philz touch recovery works too
Since you went back to stock and you already know how to root, I suggest you go to Play Store and download ROM Manager to help you install latest CWM recovery on your device.
Or you can simply go to CWM website, pick the version of the recovery for your phone and flash it via Odin.
Hope it helps.

Indeed it worked! I found it out myself yesterday. Went to the CWM site and downloaded the latest version (6.0.4.4.) and flashed it through Odin. But thanks for your input anyways (to all who replied) !
An alternative solution that I often use is to open the Updater Script in META-INF folder in the ROM's zip and delete first lines, where it gets device model as property.
Obviously it's an UNSAFE operation (because that lines avoid to install ROMs of other phone on mine) but when I'm sure that ROM I've downloaded is for my phone I do it and it works

please read EVERYTHING on the first post of a rom thread (btw also all other threads):
FAQ:
Q: Why do I get error code 7 when trying to flash ?
A: Because you are using old recovery. Update to the latest TWRP.

latest CWM or philz are working as well.
try to flash one of them (the latest) and reflash the rom.
sorry if this sounds a bit angry, but it's already the second time today that I answer such a question. In future please search first before asking a question
i already got the lastest cwm 6.0.3.2
can you leave me a official firmware 4.3 international please?
i can't find a twrp to flash .need help
any help ? still don't know what to do
For S3 International latest CWM is 6.0.4.3. You can easily install it through Play Store using Rom Manager(but it requires root)
Or you can go to CWM webpage , download the recovery for your model and flash it via Odin.
managed by me ,i installed cm for 4.3 and it runs perfectly ,now i have to download twrm and trying to install omni rom but later

[Q] Help: After Upgrade from Cyanogen 10.2 to 11 constantly booting into TWRP

Hi i kind of bricked my Mediapad 7 when tring to update Cyangen 10.2 to Cyangen 11. Need some help how to proceed.
First i booted into TWRP and tried to install the file
S7-301u V100R002C232B005 ICS Android 4.0.3 General Version.zip
to go back from Cyano 10.2 to stock rom 4.0.3. But this failed.
So i directly installed
cm-11-20140118-UNOFFICIAL-hws7300u.zip
Installation went OK. No, i didn't do a backup of the installed 10.2.
After reboot, the device is not booting but always going back to TWRP. What can i do?
What i tried in TWRP so far:
Reinstalling cm-11-20140118-UNOFFICIAL-hws7300u.zip
Reinstalling cm-10.1-20130526-UNOFFICIAL-hws7300u.zip
Wipe Cache
Factory Reset
Nothing helps. Always booting into TWRP v2.3.2.3 :crying:
Thanx for any help how to resolve this!
Forgot: During install of firmware there is a log-line:
E. Unknown File System: 'datamedia'
no slash between data and media
Solved
Solved it.
- Went back to stock recovery with "Auto_recovery_installer_for_huawei_mediapad"
- installed 4.0.3
- then installes cyanogen 11 with twrp

I had the problem of not being able to reinstall a stock rom as well.
How EXACTLY did you do it for the stock one?
I've also found out from a CM developer that stock roms can't be installed with the custom recoveries like TWRP or CWM.
Which is a nice thing to know since there doesn't seem to be any info on the forums about that.

I9300 touchscreen not responding after flashing CWM via odin

At first, hello to all of you
I had CWM 5 on my Galaxy I9300, and I installed 4.3.1 CM custom rom, and downloaded gapps for 4.3, but google play crashed everytime. Then I flashed CWM via odin, and i installed v 6.0.4.5 but with this version I couldnt " wipe dalvik cache" so I flashed v 6.0.4.6 but it wont open in recovery, then I flashed another one, and when I turned the device on, the touch screen was not responding, it booted regulary, then I tried 4.1.2 CM custom rom, but the problem is the same. I have no carrier, where to find stock rom, or what to do?, here are some photos I wont do anything on my own, to avoid more demage. Thanks for help

You blew the digitiser by flashing a recovery from another s3 model, there is no fix apart from replacing the screen assembly.
Jes, the digitiser is blown. Can i replace just him, cuz the display is working?
No, they are glued together.
