Hello,
I am just new to the Samsung Galaxy S2, and when I followed every step into rooting my phone, I went bad. This is what I did;
I came from ICS 4.0.4 update
installed a root patch + cwm which is called "CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_LQ5-v5.6-CWM5".
Followed the steps to install the rom "[ROM][JB 4.1.1][AOKP/CM10] ReVolt JB [Ver. 2.5][03/10][AROMA+OTA]"
When the rom installed, it stayed on 0 % for 2 minutes, then the whole phone turned off and I can't do anything(Can't even turn it on!)
Frankly, I never read about the eMMc bug, Since I don't use Samsung device's that much. I just followed the rules and now I guess I am screwed.
Now my question is, is my phone eMMc hard bricked? What to do now?
Thanks in advance,
-Armazia
Edit: When I keep the battery in my phone, the upper right stays warm(Seen from the back of the phone).
Don't panic.. coz it'll make u worse to run next step to fix...
Try to pull batt for about 3 mnts. Put it in & try to turn on.. if it cant turn on try to recharge, see if there's charging animation mean ur phone is ok or only softbricked.
If it's turn on then turn it off again then try to enter cwm by pressing power+home+vol up together at a time- release pow button while bootlogo appears.

None of that is working. I am not in a panic since I've rooted lots of phones, just want to get the situation clear, tho it sucks.

CFroot i believe is affected by the eMMC super brick bug, so if you did a wipe with the cf root kernel most likely you've hardbricked your phone

So Jtag would be the only option?
If its the emmc brickbug JTAG won't help. Can you post your firmware details? That'll confirm it

Not even a jtag service repairs emmc bug... Just try to remember, did you wipe anything on stock 4.0.4 kernel ? if you did, then its the emmc bug and nothing but an entire motherboard replacement can fix it.

I have whiped, since it was the advice of the rom developer. But still I didn't know about the eMMc bug. =/
Bad luck dude. The ROM devs take it for granted you've read the warning since its a sticky in the general section. If its under warranty you could still get it replaced for free if you can cook up a good enough story. Since the motherboard is dead there's no way they can find out you've rooted.

If I do want to make up a story, Do they know I flashed a rom(cause I have flashed a complete rom before this rom, which just had a bootloop)?, and can they see I've tried to root the phone?

If the motherboard is dead theres no way they can know if anything has been done with it. Rooting, number of ROMs flashed, etc. Nothing. Somebody I know with the same issue said he'd kept the phone to charge overnight and it was dead in the morning worked. Had a replacement phone in under a week.try your luck.

Guys I used cm-10-20120801-EXPERIMENTAL-i9100-CODEWORKX.zip, kernel-cm-10-20120801-i9100-signed.zip and gapps-jb-20120724-signed.zip to install jelly bean on my S2 I9100. It seemed to be working fine, but I used the Backup Everything software to restore my backup. It stopped responding after a while, i removed the battery, reinserted it and then tried to start the phone. It went into a loop and was stuck at boot screen.
I restarted it in recovery mode (vol +, home and power) and tried to clear the user data and cache. That too got hung. I tried to restart the phone using the power button and ever since nothing is happening on my phone.
I don't know what Backup Everything does, but it seems you need to reflash the ROM.

If phone doesn't react even when plugged in to charge, you are good for sammy rma. JIG will not fix it. Please report in cm10 thread to debug if it is superbrick since you used a backup job on /data when bricked

Hello guys!
My problem is that I wanted to root my freind's I9100, but something went totally wrong...
Now my problem is that the bootloader doesn't seem to work... I hold the power button, the screen lights up, nothing happens for 1-2 minutes, it crashes and it all begins again.
The only thing that is working (I think) is the Download mode...
I tried to flash VillainROM v1.1 (I read that it would solve the problem somewhere), but it didn't work...
Also with that ROM I can get to the recovery, but unfortunately it can't find the storage (Of course I have a backup on there...)
I'm really worried right now, because it's not mine...
Please help me! :crying:
If you can get into Download mode, then flash a stock rom and see if that fixes your problem.

EDIT: I waited some minutes and now it says "KERNEL PANIC UPLOAD MODE" any ideas?
EDIT2: I've done a lot of research now and it seems like I have an emmc-brick which can only be fixed by re-partitioning... does anyone know where I can get the PIT file and if that would fix it? THANKS
what method did u use to root??

I don't think that this makes a difference, root basically is just some modified system files, isn't it?
and with a new rom the old system partition gets wiped completely
I dont think its super bricked if u can power on the device. try to get into download mode and flash a stock rom. If you have warranty you better take your phone to samsung repair centre

Only the rom, with bootloader, with all 4 parts, with pit, only pit, only kernel, pit & all 4 parts, nothing seems to work...
when I try all 4 parts it's stuck at DATAFS (or something like that)
& when I flashed VillianROM v1.1 it gets me into recovery, but it always says that it can't find E:\*

No it cant be. If you can power on your device its not super bricked..If it was super bricked your phone would be just a piece of plastic that gets heat up near the camera area. you should have just flashed a safe kernel like siyah using odin. Its perfectly safe. you must have ticked the repartition on Odin
Your data partition is corrupted. And only flashing a .pit file would save your phone. If it doesnt, i think samsung is the only way...

Are you still able to get into don't download mode o your phone ? ( volume down, home key, power button )
If so, reflash your kernel and go from there.
Also have a look at CyanogenMod, they have a good post with instructions on here.

no, phone doesn.t response on anything, even if i'm charging the battery.
Try removing your battery and unplug cables.
Then try download or recovery mode again.
If it really doesnt work then there is probably something fried on your system board, doubt anything you can do about it as i had the same not that long ago out of the blue.

You can always tell them that you were updating via kies and it dropped dead just like that.
Your battery was low when you tried to flash it, wasn't it?
try a jig first tho; there's something fishy about those wipes you mentioned.

On some occasions flashing a device can use 40-50% of battery to prep and flash device which is why its advised to never flash your phone unless you have at least 50-60% battery.
If power cuts out during flashing procedure it can damage nand/ic chip, corrupt bootloader, corrupt sdcards etc.
After leaving it plugged into to charger overnight try a USB jig to see if you can get it to wake up in download mode, If you can re-flash rom and go from there.

From what you described, it couldn't have hard bricked your phone. In fact, it isn't easy to hard brick our phone unless you install that infamous ICS 4.0.4 leaked ROM or mess with flashing of PIT file. Try to use another fully charged battery to boot up or go into CWM recovery.

Exact same problem here. Followed the root guide to the letter and all OK. Set omega rom installing and it stayed at 0 for five mins then it shut off. Now no life at all.

You might give some more info on what all you did or what file you were trying to flash....
Sounds like the problem of Gingerbread root on ICS system, or vice-versa. Just redo your work, ensuring you use the appropriate file for your system.
By the way, NEVER tweak your system until you learn to move important stuff to your external sd card or pc.

OP was using odin which means he was trying to install a rooted kernel most likely from a different android version or he was installing CWM. So I highly doubt he has CWM installed and functioning. So how is he going to boot into CWM??

OK OK guys yesterday I was deleting some bloatware apps that came with my phone like hangouts, books, talkback ,samsung apps stuff that I don't need.etc
in that time i had switched my phone off around 4 times and switched it back on from when I deleted those apps and now and there was no problems in the system. BUT when I was playing a game (you know how the screen automatically dimmers then the screen went black) that's what happened so i pressed the home button to get the screen on and when i did the lock screen patternmfroze for a long time so I took out the battery than but it back in and switched my phone back on but now it just comes up with 'samsung galaxy ace GT-s5830i' and im not sure what to do. it can go in to recovery mode but i don't have CMW clockwork recovery. when i charge it comes up with the battery icon. I think it is in a boot loop. and I don't think it covers my warranty because ive had to send that phone back TWICE now back to fix it so I think they wont fix it any more. I have factory data reseted it and cleared the cache partition but still no use. I have taken the battery alot of times now and taken the sim card and the micro sd card but no use.

OK guys I spoke to my mum about it and she says that if it wasn't your fault then she was going to send it back to the factory again to repair it because I realised we were paying for the phone on a locked 2 year contract. The only time its not under warranty is any damage due to 'physical actions' so hope fully it will just get repaired. But in this thred you can post questions
