I know there's some previous posts about this, but I also know things change rapidly, so I wanted to get some up to the minute info:
1) I'd read that the Prime's hardware is capable of 2.5Ghz and 5GHz WiFi, but that ASUS disabled the option. Has anyone written a prog or hack that can activate the 5GHz feature?
2) I know the Prime's only major blemish on it's performance is WiFi, not having 3G, it makes it imperative to have good WiFi performance. I've unlocked my Prime and I'm running the Virtuous ROM, just so you know what I'm running. However my question is the same as above, has anyone written a prog or hack that improves WiFi performance, or is it just a black eye Prime users have to live with?
My understanding is that the WiFi performance is a hardware issue and not a software issue. I've seen a few folks be pretty emphatic about that, especially in light of the recent JB release -- many were asking if it'd fix the WiFi issue. Short answer: No.

Hey guys I have my x10 and I want to increase my wifi speed. Can anyone offer any suggestions

You can improve the signal strength of the wifi router by using a parabolic antenna. Simple design google it and happy surfing....
I mean is there a line I can use in the build prop. On wolfbreaks Rom the speeds are unreal. Yet on the stock its so slow

The real wifi speed is more related to baseband, what may be your issue is something related to software processing that is too slow, as far as i know there is not much of a difference regarding wifi signal strength or anything that would affect wifi directly, the only changes are in system response and processing.
I did a search and couldn't find anything definitive, so hopefully some of you can help me here
I've accepted the fact that my TFP won't get stellar wifi speeds but I guess what I can do is tinker with my router to ensure that it's maximizing its signal and throughput.
I have the Linksys WRT-320N router mounted high up on my wall in my 2 bdrm apt. When I'm next to the router, I get a pretty consistent 15mbps up/down but it trickles off to about 5 from my bedroom about 30 ft. away. My concern is that it's rated for a lot more than 15mbps, and my wired internet gets about 100mbps up/down, so surely it must be a router setting?
I've disabled QoS and tried various channels but besides that, I haven't done much. Are there particular recommended settings that I can play with to try to maximize my speeds? I also made sure my firmware is up to date on the router and have reset it a few times.
A question for you: why did you disable QoS?
How about using QoS to maximize wifi output/priority to your prime when its connected?
Why would you even use qos just for your prime? That's like a 6 lane highway and only allowing one car at a time. It's pretty useless.
I doubt you'll get any difference at all. Qos only prioritizes traffic so that more important traffic can pass first.
Try unlocking your prime and installing another rom, try another router, or move your router to a center location. You could try to update your firmware or even see if you can find any custom firmware for your router.
QoS has always been a pain in the ass so I would disable regardless.
But ASUS does need to publish their findings on recommended settings to optimize performance.
i disabled QoS based off another post about smoothing out the throughput from the router. either way, i've noticed neither a positive or negative result of this.
as far as custom firmware, i'm looking into the dd-wrt route, but would want to tweak the router with the stock firmware as much as possible to see if i have to resort to doing custom
Chances are the limitation will be the transformer's wifi chipset. If you flash your router with dd-wrt you might be able to get slighty better performance.
Don't know that its worth the effort. 5 mb/s is adequate for almost all web except downloading large files and vnc. My experience has been if you want performance your pretty much stuck with something that has gigabit lan.

I get about 0.5mb/s speed on the local Wi-Fi network. I get up to 8mb/s on the computer (802.11N card). What about you? Maybe it depends on kernel/rom..?

Little answer please

You didn't get an answer because this info is easily found via a Google search Look for the SGS2 entry at Wikipedia, then follow the links to the article on the relevant WiFi standards.
Oh yeah "802.11 a/b/g/n Wifi" is it? Do you know which speed each of these letters is supposed to give..? I do, so i'm going to tell you that with 802.11n (which my router fully support) you're supposed to get up to 450mb/s. In reality you get let less, but it's still up to about 250mb/s, now you can even divide that by eight, which result in 31,25, far from 0.5 (the speed i get, if not lower, which my 1st post mention, did you read it fully..?) isn't it? Now you might see things that others don't, if so just tell me.
Hmm..?

It depends on many things. Bug in the kernel, faulty hardware, the distance from the router (phones have smaller antennae than laptops due to the size constraint, so laptops will constantly get higher strength signal than phones), faulty routers are all factors, if your phone is the only wifi device that's not getting the speed it should.
I don't know what the real life max speed of GS2 is, but I've hit somewhere between 20~50Mbps on a N router that has 1000Mbps internet connection (~750Mbps realistically, and I wasn't the only one connected to the router). So it should be able to get 8Mbps that your computer is getting, assuming the GS2 is right next to the router.
It doesn't change depending on placing.. And I can go faster when downloading. So I don't think hardware is défective..

Hi guys, Sorry if a thread like this exists, if so, please let an admin erase this one.
But as for the current year 2013, I'm planning on changing my Ipad 2, for another tablet, (obviously android based). I've been reading, seeing some specs, and people claim the Prime is a little bit better than the TF300, and the infinity is a little bit out of my budget. I know the TF701 is comming but as for the things I've seen it's not a big upgrade from the infinity and offcourse it will come at a hiiiiiighheeeeer price.
So Would you recommend the Prime? The reasons I'm considering the Prime is because I want a 10.1 tablet with keyboard, lately my studies demand a lot of note taking and I'm faster typing on a keyboard than writing on paper, Besides what I love of my ipad is the battery life, and according to reviews and specs the Prime have a better performance in that matter. The only downsides I see on the prime is the Tegra 3 but still it's a quad-core processor. The other downside is the 1GB of RAM but I'd have to cope with that.
Appart of your opinions, I would like to know:
1. Can i set up the dock keyboard language? 'cause my mother language is spanish
2. How are things going with JB? as i read there were problems regarding gamming performance
3. What about development, is it active or is this a phantom forum?
4. Are ROMs Stable and do some improve battery performance?
5. Does the dock Keyboard work on all ROMs? (what about CM, AOSP based ROMs)
6. Are there still wifi problems? like short coverage. So I heard because of the metal casing
7. What do you think about your Primes life-expectancy will it survive for around three more years?
I think that's all for now, so guys hope you can help me..
Hi,
The Prime has poor Wifi performance and almost no GPS. AFAIK the other two do not have does problems.
1: Yes, you can
2: Androwook (2.2) works great for me!
3: Development is active, but not as much as for some other devices EDIT: Maybe not that active, didn´t look around for a while
4: I only know Androwook, which, in Version 2.2 is stable. Battery life is good (Two days for me in University!)
5: I dont know.
6: yes.
7: With a custom ROM, it should. It will be outclassed by newer tablets, of course.

Version 2.31 should be better in just about every factor over 2.2. Might be worth you upgrading mate.

I did, but I am having major problems:
- Dock sometimes doesn´t work right
- Won´t wake up from sleep
- Freezes, with it not booting anymore afterwards. (Stays on loading screen)
I couldn´t post in the dev section, due to under 10 posts

Is this with 2.3 or 2.31 mate?
I have never encountered any dock problems. Did you dirty flash ?
The won't wake up from sleep was a bug in 2.3 with Hunds kernel and should have been fixed in 2.31. If you are still getting it with 2.31 try the stock kernel and see if it still happens.
The freezes again could be related to Hunds kernel and you not having enough power when overclocked. Was you in performance mode when this happened? Also did you try the voltage increase addon that was included in the Kernel Selection page of 2.31 Installer?

2.31, never tried 2.3
I am using Data2SD, forgot to mention.
The first install was clean, it lastet a few hours till it froze, but I did a Backup after setting it up.
I did not wipe bevor restoring the backup, doe TWRP seemed to format bevor restoring.
The Dock problems hapend after the first freeze, so that could be a problem from the restore.
I did a stability test without voltage fix, no crash there. I did not test the fix long enough yet to know if it worked - so far its okay.
Freezes happend on the homescreens. And once it did not boot while crashing asleep, might be the same problem.
All in balanced mode, except the stability test.
I did not try stock kernel yet. Will try that if it hapens again

No, no it isn't, i've had problem after problem after problem, i'd have been better off putting it in the bin or eating my dinner off it.
Yeah, I figured after these few answers. I'll wait and see how the next tf701 performs.
Hello to everyone. I've been using the S10 Lite for about one month (I received it Oct. 16) and since them I noticed something weird with my Wifi speed. I have a 200Mbps connection and 5GHz wifi, never had issue with internet speed on PC or my other phone (Redmi Note 6 Pro), but I noticed that my S10 Lite is slowing down my internet if I start downloading many apps or games, large files or downloadable contents in games, like PUBG maps, and the phone gets hot. The speed varies between 6-20Mbps, which I think is unacceptable for a phone with high-end hardware. Another weird stuff is that when I turn on the phone's router (don't need to connect any device to it, just turn on) the speed increases up to 50Mbps, but also drops under 30Mbps. I contacted Samsung through Samsung Members and they said it's normal, every phone will slow down when it heats, but I never had issues with my previous phone. I'm afraid that I'd need to get rid of Samsung official firmware to unlock my phone's full potential, because I don't want to. I noticed this phone has some agressive thermal throttling for the GPU and CPU, I think the issue with Wifi speed might be a software limitation too, but it's too anoying. Does anyone noticed something with their phones or know somehow to fix this? Thanks.
