Hi guys,
I've got a little bit stupid question. Is it possible to boot a linux or windows os instead of android? I saw something, if I remember right, there was an app which booted linux os. But it should be like custom ROM. Just want to know .
Thanks

On some devices you can have a native port of Linux, if your rooted you can use my project to install Linux on top of android.
Only way you can get windows is using qume to emulate a desktop CPU as windows can not run on ARM procssors

Thanks, but is it possible to somehow run linux not on top of android, run instead of android? How I imagine it, it should be like a custom flashable ROM .

Well yes in the sense there's no android but its not really a ROM in the sense of the word used here.
Only some devices have native ports as they need unlocked boot loaders and the dev team to get it working

Thanks, but you didn't said which devices have. By the way, if it isn't hard, can you post a link where is that rom, want to take a look?

You will need to buy a copy of Windows and install it side by side with your Mac OSX via Bootcamp
Best option is to Google it, Apple have a lot of information on it (its very easy to do)
Parellels should work as well. Very similar to bootcamp, but it runs inside osx.

There has been some troubleshooting for drivers issues go to my FAQ tips and tricks which is stickied and scroll down to Drivers Issues. Most likely if you have installed drivers of other android devices will cause trouble, second do not install sdk use the adb drivers provided with any of the root methods.

I was able to root the nt but i had to go into the reg on my pc and clean it out before it let me. I generally wouldn't recomend it unless you're comfortible working in the windows registry.

You can use Ubuntu on this device using these directions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1390351
and using this App. for the installation guide
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.zpwebsites.ubuntuinstall&feature=search_result
It is tested to work on both the 5.0 and 4.0.
I take none of the credit, I am just pointing out a cool "app."
is it for the us version or international??

Don't have time to try it out yet, but I do have a question about the driver support.
Since it is a full blown linux distro, does it come with usb audio driver, otg support and etc?

You do not install anything other than the one app. You run a few commands to start it. Then you open the app. to connect to the Ubuntu "server." it is actually running in the background like an app. would, but you can exit at any time. Read more on the link that I posted along in this thread.

Tizen is an operating system.
This is the gallery application found there.
The s2 in that video is different from the s2 we have, it is a dev phone running tizen os and not Android os.
In short, you well never see this app on your Android, your only hope is if a dev sees this video and decides to write a gallery app that mimics its behaviour .

maybe the devs'll port it sometime? i dunno if it's available now

While you can't directly install Windows 7/8 on android, if you have another device running Windows 7/8 such as your desktop computer or a laptop you can use a remote desktop client for android such as Android VNC https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=android.androidVNC or LogmeIn Ignition https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.logmein.ignitionpro.android to control your Windows 7/8 device from your Android device remotely.

It's almost impossible because you need to build a kernel with drivers necessary for your device and you won't be able to do that without kernel source code.
