I recently posted a question about how to figure out what specific tweaks the different roms have...could not figure out how to find what I am looking for.
So here is what I am looking for: I recently switched from the Samsung S2 and now have the EVO 4G LTE. Now, don't get me wrong, I love this phone, but...I reeeeeaaaaaly miss the swipe features. For instance when in the contacts list you can swipe left for call (it will dial and start ringing automatically) or you can swipe right to text (will go right to start a text message for that contact). And another feature I miss is when answering a call is a swipe, not a press.
It is whole lot easier and SAFER to just swipe with thumb to answer without having to look down to make sure I TOUCH the right button in just the right place..know what I mean?
If anyone knows of a rom where this has been tweaked in, I would love to know. If it hasn't been tweaked in, maybe a developer will see this and incorporate it into a new ROM.
did you ever get any responses about this? is it possible?

Im looking for a good working ROM. I've tried alot of ROMs here and none of them seem to work properly. Slow, horrible UI, random calling, some things dont work etc. I'm really upset with the fuze platform but I am pretty much stuck with it until my contract is over. I don't need eye candy. I need something stable that works, please help me. Thanks.
EDIT: I am using the Energy ROM, im not too sure which one as theres a new one every week. This is my problem with it; there's no simple shortcut to contacts. I hit the call button to bring up the keypad and at the bottom left there's "Contacts". Not too convenient as i'd like, but thats not the problem. Sometimes I hit the call button and the phone spazzes and lags, hit it again 10 seconds later and it launches and starts going on a calling rampage and I can't stop it until I restart the phone. I need something that will work or else i'll use my mother's old Chocolate. =\

i will give it a try right now. this will be the dealbreaker if I decide to keep the fuze. thanks for the quick reply.
There is no raphael_ruu in that file. I dont know how to install it.
please search before asking questions like this...

allso i suggest this energy rom

its sense 2.1 and donwload the 21899 build it has the contacts shortcut right away
change the file name to raphimg.nbh
put it on ur msd card - need to be format to fat 32
then press volum down and reset botun
If you want a quick way to get contacts, just assign a soft-key to them; it's not that hard. The shortcut is just (no quotes) "1#:MSCONTACTS". Stick that in a text file, change the extension to .lnk, and you've got a shortcut. If you want the icon (for your start menu, for instance), then use this (again, no quotes):"1#:MSCONTACTS?outres.dll,-10000".
On stock Gingerbread, when receiving a phone call, I just pushed the button to answer or ignore. Now on CM7 I have to slide to unlock in order to answer or ignore. I have checked all the Cyanogen Settings for the lock screen and phone and there is no way to diasble this. I also use "No Lock" from the market but it looks like there is no option to change this cm7. Can anyone help?
When screen is locked and phone rings, you slide to answer. When you are on your phone with the screen in, you push button to answer. I havnt been on cm7 for a while, so I could be wrong. That's how it is in homebase
Sent from my Atrix
No, you have to slide to unlock whether the phone is awake or sleeping. After researching for a while I can't understand why this would be stripped in cm7 when they seemed to fix it in Gingerbread and even Froyo I think. Seems like a lot of people were complaining about it on other message boards. I just wonder if it was intentionally stripped out of cm7 along with the ability to ignore with text response.
Uhmm.. Mine works fine. No issue like that.don't need to unlock to answer.

Thanks for the reply but could you be more specific? Are you running the Cyanogen Mod 7 beta ROM and if so are you saying that when your phone rings that you don't have to slide to answer i.e just push the answer button, or are you saying that you dont have to swipe to wake up your device and then swipe to answer?
Yep running latest cm7 available for atrix. Didn't really changed anything regarding the locksreen.. though i do have gestures enabled along with the regular lockscreen.
I only have to slide to pickup the phone.. never needed to slide to unlock.. then slide to pick up..
I think you misunderstood my original post. I do not have to "slide to unlock" to wake the phone in order to "slide to answer". Just like you, all I have to do is slide to answer. I want to change it where I can just push the "answer" button to answer the call like you could in stock Gingerbread.

not sure if this does what you want it to do, but i replaced my caller ID screen with it because the stock one wasn't compatible with my density levels.
anyways, check it out, it's pretty customizable: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.androminigsm.fscifree&hl=en

Well you need to reword this..
You can try and use a different dialer in the market. Personally, Sliding makes more sense to me as you don't wanna accidentally pick it up or hang it up on a press..
Maybe widgetlocker will let you add extra sliders to your lock screen.
Prior to the Atrix, I had Samsung Captivate and I really liked the feature in the contacts where I could swipe left to right to dial that contact, or right to left to send them a text. I have only found one app so far to mimic this (swipe contacts), and it's aesthetically very poor, although I suppose the function is there. Does anyone know of a more attractive way to accomplish this? Thanks.
I have been lurking on this site for a while. Let me say thank you to all the developers here, its incredible that you would take time out of your life to help other people with our miniscule problems that we bring upon ourselves.
Anyway I recently upgraded from cyanogenmod 9 to cyanogenmod 10 on my Samsung infuse 4g. In the 9th version, there was a section in the system menu for developer tools. In it was a bunch of options but the one i am concerned with is the cursor. Actually i cant recall what it is called but when enabled, it shows a little circle wherever the screen is being touched. I love that feature and i figured it would still be in the 10th version but i cannot find it. I dont know what to search for to find information so i had to create this account and ask.
Okay i was playing with the settings and i found this.
Settings - Lock Screen - Slider shortcuts - drag the dot to a new location - activities - Dev tools - Pointer Location
but when i lock the screen and then unlock it and slide the dot to the icon, it just brings up a kind of app. the one in CM9 was global and it was different, it didnt track the touch, just showed it...
found it (?)
okay i found how to enable it but its hidden like a *****
Had to set Dev tools to the slider icon, then save, lock the screen, unlock it, slide to the dev tools icon, and the developer options is THERE. WHO PUT IT THERE?! How were we supposed to get to it? The dev tools contain many useful features. I use the long press back key kill app feature, and some people might use the max background processes to free up memory. You can change transition animation timing, and lots of other things. IDK why they hid it away on CM10 unlike CM9.
Anyway thats where the dev tools are. Question answered, maybe it will help someone else.

Go to settings - About Phone - And press on the "build number" for 7 times.
You will get a message saying "You're now a developer" or something.
And the Developer Options menu should be available in settings.
My father has early onset Alzheimers and I need to create a rom that when the device is powered on all he sees is 3 buttons call, end call, and text which brings up the plain texting option. Call shows square photos of people and services..etc.. tap on one it calls that person. I Would also like to do things like change the power button so it cant fully shut down the phone with out a specific combination of buttons or a pattern. Where do I begin to learn how to do this? I would really like to learn to do this on my own.
Hi there. Sorry to hear about your father. I've had a couple members of my family suffer from this and it's difficult, to say the least. As far as what you are looking for, well, I'm not sure you need to go all in and make a custom rom for this. I think many of the things you are trying to do can be done with existing mods.
As far as the power button, you can look into using the Xposed Framework and the Xposed Additions module which allows you to customize the activity of the hardware buttons.

For the buttons on screen for Call / End Call - Well, the Call with a link to favorite contacts with pictures is easily done with most launchers or a favorite contact widget. The End Call option though, I'm not so sure about. Reason being is that any time you're going to make a call, it's going to open the dialer app and the end button will be there. I can't really think of a way around that. I looked into adding a shortcut to that activity with Nova Launcher, but it's not an option available (though there are a dozen other shortcuts).
But with a launcher like Nova, you will have the ability to add / delete anything off the main screen besides what you want. You can lock the home screen so he can't inadvertently make changes to it and enable a gesture he wouldn't be likely to use to allow you to access the app drawer (like 2 fingers swipe up, etc). You can also use one of the variety of locking apps that will prevent access to any unwanted apps by requiring a password or PIN.
Ooh. Custom ROMs. A lot of work for such simple need. Maybe use Tasker instead? You can accomplish this with a scene and some profiles/tasks setup on stock ROM. Only disadvantage I see compared to making your own rom is long boot time. You can bypass everything in regards to Android UI just by making the scene fullscreen and disabling keyguard with a on-boot profile. That way, when he turns the screen back on, it goes right to your scene setup with no "slide-to-unlock" crap. I am very experienced in Tasker, so if you need any help, I can help you. I'd be willing to develop this for you, it would be about a half hour on my part
All the best,
