Just recently I noticed that the location accuracy on Google Maps is around 1600 meters making it almost impossible to use the program for direction purposes. I installed GPS Status app and it looks like that my cell does not see any of the satellites. It only gets location from cell triangulation method I assume. I am on unlocked hboot 1.58, s-off via bear method, radio 1.09, and 2.89 build. I tried installing different roms but in non of them GPS functions properly. GPS icon keeps blinking but without any results. Any ideas
Thanks

As the above person said this is the wrong forum this would be better posted in the thread of the rom you are using as this isn't enough information to come up with a resolution eapeciallly since it could very well be the Rom you are using. Sorry :c

Off the top of my head... what kernel are you using? Have you tried different kernels? If you're s-off I would suggest flashing a RUU and going totally stock to see if it works then. If not chances are that it's a hardware fault.

I dont know if the thread is too old, but I have the same probs here....I"m on newest firmware+radio, already changed from yoda"s to cool ics...used the stock kernel the devs cooked in...also the same...sometimes I have gps lock, but if I drive just only five meters, it already dont work....really dont know, also tested with gps stat....reset and new gps-a data doesnt help....I really dont know why it doesnt work, it worked for me on older firmware+radio with "virtuos" (have forgotten how it"s spelled, a little old but very good working rom..) and now it"s gone...really have no idea why it doesn"t work..........(((((((
I have also posted this question on yodas thread and on team d3rp"s thread and awaiting some answers...it is really disapointing me ...

There are posts about AGPS - Why is this important? I thought phones with true GPS didn't need aGPS?
There are posts about PRI's - I have no clue what that is even about!

Update to VZ's MR1? Or am I holding on for something better?
Do I use GPS? Ehh.. Id'e like to use GPSTracker, so far it's not working very well with out GPSGate installed. And I like to have Tomtom installed as a backup. It works OK.. Very slow to lock on though.
However, with my desire to keep GPS intact, my S2U2 has stopped working, so I uninstalled it. ThrottleLauncher started breaking (even though nothing changed) so that's gone. My phone feels icky right now... I thought maybe the Verizon update would help clean it up!

The VZW update installs a new PRI that seems to help lock down GPS so other 3rd party programs do not work unless you pay the $10/mo VZNav access.

What are you currently running? I suggest looking into DCD 3.2.6 or investigating what you might have installed causing the problem. Sometimes starting from scratch by doing a hard reset is just easier to clear out any changes one might have made.

Running DCD 3.2.5 right now. Is there a problem with .5?
So say I move to .6
Would it benefit me to use the newer Radio VZ has provided us?
Then work on getting aGPS working
Then move along from there?
I am not good with getting the roms installed via flash card, so I am stuck using USB, if that option exists.. Will going from .5 to .6 erase everything? Do I need to use the spl program first when ever I do an update like this?
I think those questions will help, the other answers already help as I now have no intention of using the verizon update

You can stick with 3.2.5 if it works for you. When DCD releases a new ROM I usually wait 1-2 days to see if there are any reported issues and then I upgrade to his latest. Upgrading the ROM does erase all the data from your phone. i.e. saved txt messages, call history, contacts, etc. So, you'll want to back that info up. I personally use a utility called "PPC Backup Contacts" to backup my contacts and I don't care about the rest. Verizon's radio rom isn't the latest version as far as version numbers go. I haven't had any issues with the latest radio, so, I'd suggest you you just use it. For SPL, once you have it on there you don't need to mess with it unless a new version comes along.
Flashing... I've never been successful flashing the radio rom via USB unless it was built into an official package like VZW or Sprints office rom. I've flashed most of my radios via the minisd method. I kind of cheat by using my phone as the minisd reader. I hook my phone up to my computer and let activesync go. From there, my phone shows up inside Windows Explorer and I just copy the new ROM to the minisd. For flashing the actual rom, I've always stuck with DCD's precooked rom that has the installer built in and works over USB.
I have Passion ICS 13.1 ROM. My GPS doesn't work. I've tried the physical hardware fix. But I still get 12 satellites in view but 0 in use.
How else can I get it to work?
I read something about kernals but I'm unsure. Anyone?
change kernel. try the newer kiss kernels or subzero.

Software. If it were hardware, you wouldn't see them at all, or they would be very weak, popping in and out as your phone struggled to lock.
Swyped, not typed, from my Digital Brick
Here are tons of discussions about this problem.
Long story short, try to install NStools and flash subzero#70 using rom manager.
Once it boots up, get a lock with your GPS before the phone goes to deep sleep...
for some reason, after you do this, next time you need your gps it will work... and you can also disable the GPS after that and enable whenever you want...
Sounds weird, but at least I got mine working doing this without need of reboot...
Give it a try

In my experience last cm7.2 works well with agps (gps and data enabled) and it's tooo slow without data enabled.
In zeubea's cm9 gps seems not to work at all in latest release, at least in my case, fixs satellites but don't lock your position, with data enabled estimates your location considering umts or wifi (precision more than 600 meters).
I'm using 47.51.35.17U_7.13.35.05 but I'm not sure it makes difference.
I have the best experience with Blay0's ROM B 0.8.4 ( forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=866849 ). When I had a GPS-fix in the last time, I get a new fix in 10-15 seconds. The app GpsFix (market link) helps to get a short fix time.
I'm using legend.radio-47.51.35.17_7.13.35.05.

CyanogenMod 7.2 stable - GPS problems
I just installed CM 7.2 on a few HTC Legend phones, only to find that with their radio, version 47.26.35.04_7.05.35.26L, the GPS does not work with CM 7.2 at all. When I start a program that tries to use the GPS, nothing happens. Not even the GPS icon appears in the status bar.
This is strange, because this is the radio version most newer HTC Legend phones come with.
I downgraded the radio to the next-older version I could find, 47.39.35.09_7.08.35.21. With this the GPS icon starts to blink, but never gets a fix. However, after I reboot the phone, it works. It still takes a relatively long time, at least a minute, to get a first fix, but works better afterwards.
This is a bad trap, because somebody who does not try the reboot trick may come to the wrong conclusion that this radio does not work with CM 7.2 and flash an unnecessarily old radio.
I have stopped testing and wanted to ask here first whether anybody has already done some more thorough tests with different radio versions and found which one works best, not only concerning the GPS, but also all the other radio functions. Which radio should I flash with CyanogenMod 7.2?

I don't know where your getting your information from, but its very out dated.
Radio version
47.26.35.04_7.05.35.26L is from what I could find out is the first radio for legend, Radio_47.39.35.09_7.08.35.21
is the second version released, there has been 2 even newer versions released since
Radio_47.51.35.17H_7.13.35.05
&
Radio_47.54.35.20U_7.13.35.13, this one I believe is supposed to be only for America.
If you look in the dev section you will find those 2 newer versions.
Its a pitty that there is no change log available to find out what the difference is between them all.

A Nandroid backup does not contain the radio.
Apparently the radio firmware is considered as closer to the hardware than to the software, too close to include it in a backup.

I had an old, semi-defective Legend and tried the apparently newer 7.51.35.17.zip radio on it. It works very well. Unlike some older radios it got a GPS fix at first try.
The ZIP package has the same structure as the other ones, so if it contains malware, it would have to be in the radio.img file.
My first guess is that, if somebody wanted to write Android malware, he would not start with a software component that is specific to one meanwhile oldish phone and then not care whether it remains mostly unknown. No proof, of course, but I will flash this radio into a couple of Legends and see how it goes.
Another observation: The radio version numbers consist of four numbers, similar to an IP address. However, the first number is always 7, and the third number is always 35. This indicates to me that this is not a hierarchical number, raising the question whether the second or the fourth number is the better indication of progress. What if the second number is just some code for some other characteristic? In that case ...35.26L would be the latest and greatest.
Actually I tend to think that the second number counts up the version. If so, then 7.51 would be a lot newer than any of the others.

I have read on other threads for lots of other android phones that if you flash wrong radio firmware it will destroy your phone.
The malware side is if it is fake, then flashing it would distroy the phone and you wouldn't get it back.

Zubea CM9Beta3
Has someone tested the new CM9Beta3?
Cause I have trouble with my GPS with that new Build. When I start a GPS using App, it does not always show a GPS Symbol like it should. Sometimes theres no Symbol, sometimes there is the symbol but its not blinking.
And the next is, when I end the GPS usign app the symbol remains in its state. Disable and Endable the GPS doesnt change anything on the Symbol but the App tells me that the GPS is disabled.
So is it just the Symbol wich is bugged or also the GPS? Cause it takes veery long.

I've got a problem where if my GPS is turned on and I open maps/or anything which used gps, it will scan for gps satellites(and find nothing) but also will disable my network signal for a min or so while it's trying to locate the satellite, I didn't have this problem on my stock rom however I haven't been able to get my gps to work on any custom rom or the original rom since I unlocked my bootloader.
Anywho I've decided it's time to start looking into trying another radio and I'm hoping someone can recommend one, also how can I backup my current radio? is it just on the rom level where if I use backup in CWM it'll backup the radio at the same time?
Search the forum, asked and answered many times. Find my backup thread and flash 36p radio.
Thank you for the information I found your thread however it appears that it mostly pertains to the AT&T Atrix, I should have said this in my origina thread but I have a Bell Canada Atrix 4G running radio# N_01.07.05P.
Also I'm running Turl's most recent CM9 build.
One other thing, my wife has the same atrix but is running Neutrino CM7 with the same radio and her GPS works flawlessly so maybe I'm looking in the wrong place to fix my GPS issue.
Flashing radio fix my gps problem. You should be able flash 36p but please research before.
Maybe reflashing same radio could help.

Well I successfully flashed N_01.77.33P_can_bell.zip onto my phone and now when I run GPS it no longer drops my network connection however unfortunately I'm still not getting a GPS signal from any GPS testing app.
Try gps status. Also search for cm troubleshot, gps part. I'm on mobile now, is not that easy to search
I've been using GPS Status and GPS Test, searched through Turl's CM9 thread again and it looks like most ppl were able to fix it by flashing their radios however there are some ppl there who responded like me with flashing the radio not working for them either.
I mean cm 7 wiki, just google it.
Success, I flashed the radio a 4th time and now my gps is working fine.

I'm glad that you managed. I told you, flash radio
At the end which radio did you flash?
N_01.77.33P_can_bell.zip is the radio I got to work.

Does radio affect GPS, PRI, PRL? I can't get a lock for anything. I've flashed a Sense ROM and tried to get a lock that way. Downloaded GPS status app. Nothing. Getting pretty frustrated. What am I missing here?? I'm running the latest JellyBAM ROM. Android Version 4.1.2 1.12.11.1119 PRL 25010 Any help is greatly appreciated.

As fas as I know the EVO 4G LTE and many others like it have two types of GPS. One is true GPS and the other is through triangulation from the Sprint Towers.(Network). They are two different radios. make sure GPS is turned on of course first. Settings/location/ all the options are there. Click on Location Settings and make sure that one is checked(on) as well.

Thanks for the reply. I checked a double checked. Any other input would be appreciated. Some of the Devs must know what affect the GPS. I've go to figure out something of flash back to stock and return it. Its almost like something I've done has broke the GPS.
Try a sense rom again. Jelly bam is aosp.
Super jelly should work fine.
