[Q] Downgrade to HC from ICS R5 - Sony Tablet S

Hi basing from some post at condis tool it is possible to downgrade from present ICS to HC. Im having trouble with my touch panel and im hoping flashing back to HC would solve my problem.
Im stuck on wiping the phone after the 3rd dots last reboot. I dont get the timing. Im stuck on the sony logo for some time. Does that count as bootloop? And wiping the phone means facctory reset via recovery mode?
these info might be useful
installed pre root ICS then upgraded to rc5 by manual flashing of update files found at stifilz thread and rooted using the manual way. (would that affect ability to downgrade?

Forgot to mention, thought you had read it.... been posted a couple of times (by myself and others) Once R5 is installed the recovery is updated and we can no longer get adb shell in recovery, therfore AIO tool can not disable the update checker.... So we can NOT flash custom pre-rooted roms anymore
You can flash the original HC zip. And you can root 3.2.1R2 US using AIO tool.

Fresh install of 4.04 after the fact?

Ok. so ive been trying to root with the new release but cant for some reason.
I figure its due to the fact that i unsucessfully tried to root with another method
is there a way to cleanly install 4.04 again?
factory wipe doesnt work, superuser is still in my app drawer
which version of ics do you have?
Blur_Version.651.167.3370.XT910.Brasil.en.BR.zip
so, the LATAM version
You can reinstall the OTA (Boot recovery > clean cache > wipe data/factory reset > install update from sd card).
or use this guide for fresh install http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1700264.
btw have you tried this process for root? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1707431
worked for me (european leak)
thanks for the help. have a few options now to try. ill post my success or failure.
ps... ellas ole
Try the root method first
I don't know if the script works, i used the manual process with commands.
If you have any questions about running adb, feel free to ask

Ok I did it. rooted it finally
I was right, i needed to do the fresh install to clear the previous root attempt and everything went BEAUTIFULLY
Thanks again buddy
I'm glad you made it. We really needeed that root exploit!
No one's answered this yet....
If I flash these current "leaks" like .210 for instance, to a 100% stock razr, 1.) do I have to root it first? and 2.) will the "OFFICIAL" release still be pushable and pullable for me without having to do anything special? Or will there be other things I have to do for having rooted the phone? (just asking)
At this point you can root any version of ICS using the latest exploit, but if you have a stock razr it's much easier to root 2.3.6 using Motofail and keep your root using voodoo ota rootkeeper.
If you flash a leak you will still be able to get the official OTA but not directly from your phone as an update, you will have to flash it as well.

Thanks. I'll just wait
maybe......
Just so I'm clear... and I rarely am about Motorola rooting... we'll likely be able to use this to root our phones when ICS finally drops?
I don't think Motorola will have the time to patch this, considering that the OTA is about to be released soon, but even in that case, there will be another option for sure, many developers wait for the official release to post their work

How to get .62 and root access

Hi all,
I am currently using a ICS based custom rom on my LWW and the battery drain is driving me insane.
I'm hoping that I can simply install GB (with root access) then begin to uninstall all the unnecessary programs accordingly.
My question is what is the simplest method in doing this? I thought about installing 4.0.2.A.0.62 version but I don't know how to gain root access in this (.58 is easy to get root access on). In searching for solutions, people on this forum agree that a person should flash to .58 then do a OTA update to reach .62. However when i did this (through wotan server) I selected Australia (where i'm from) but was only given the option to upgrade to ICS version, not the .62 GB
I am just wondering what is the simplest way i can get .62 and also get root access?
Regards
Jay
P.S: I'm looking for a simple GB version but all seem to be quite heavily modded (plain .62 GB version with the basics mods ) which seem to have few glitches/bugs
You don't need to purchase the firmware for your region, just use a generic :good:
Search for a .42/.58 firmware, root it and do an ota update (via wifi) to .62
How to root is in my rooting guide!

Hey
Ok, i did get manage to get to .58 and then got a option of upgrading to .62. However my phone stopped working (green blicking every time i tried turning it on). The phone refused to turn on.
I used the 'UnbrokingXperia2011' pack listed on the tutorial to get my phone working.
At the moment it's charging and is on .58. I just received the upgrade message (upgrade to .62) to upgrade. I'm wondering will this do it again?
I read that if I have a unlocked bootloader, it causes issues?
I still have no way to upgrade to .62 with root access

Yes, OTA updates brick the Phone if your bootloader is unlocked.. I came across this yesterday while searching for links for my guide - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688980 - which you could try.

Hi there,
Thank you, yes on my third attempt i was successful
YAY! .62 with root!
However believing that i should flash custom kernal, i flashed X kernel 2.6.32.59 (flashed wlan fix then kernal) without wiping anything - just went into recovery and flashed it straight. Everything works fine except i can't turn on my wifi :/
I tried replacing it with Rage Kernal 3.0 but it still get an error when i try to turn on wifi.
I'm hoping i don't have to reflash the whole thing
Thank you
Edit:
I cleared Dalv Cache and then flashed the wlan again but i'm still receiving the error. I should of backed up my wlan
Any way to solve this issue?

Flash the Kernel first, reboot to home screen, reboot then flash modules, then reboot again.

Hi there,
Ok
These are the steps i followed:
Flashed the X Kernal via FlashTools
Booted to home
Turned off phone then rebooted into CWM
Flashed the wlanv4 zip
Rebooted home
Tried to turn on wifi but getting the same message, "Error"
So then i did the same thing again but before i flashed the wlanv4 zip, i wiped the Dalv Cache to see if it made a difference. It didn't
Still stuck with the same "Error"
Also tried to flash bbooff;s Kernal through CWM and flashboot.
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25499983&postcount=101
but getting the same error
Edit 2:
Ok, i reflashed the whole thing. I'm now stuck again :/
After rooting .58 then using the Xperia-Root option given by puppet13th i keep getting a white blinking light with reboots. It just going round and round.
Argh!
Just need a simple .62 GB for LWW with Root! hehe
Damn i need to ask someone to do it for me. I tried doing it on my own but it didn't work out the way i wanted it to be (reboot loop).
Sigh*
Edit 3:
Is there a place i could request this? A rooted .62 LWW flashable rom? There doesn't seem to be one around on the forums (that i could find).
Regards
When you reflash the stock ROM is it restoring your WiFi?

Hi there,
Yes i am on .58 at the moment. It won't boot to .62 (White LED, continues to blink then phone reboots again) when i tried to follow the steps provided by puppet13th.
I have been looking and trying to figure out a way that i can make a rootable .62 for my LWW
I've zipped it under normal compression with WINRAR. Let's see how it flows ...
Wish me luck :fingers-crossed:

I'm getting a bootloop on rage kernal
Followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849867
but with no success

[Q] Can't get my phone to update

I've been on stock rooted ROM (MDK) for longest time w/ CWM recovery. I decided I wanted to get back on the update track after this recent update came out and is already rooted. I defrosted all apps, unrooted the device with Voodoo OTA rootkeeper, and uninstalled SuperSU. I then flashed stock firmware with Odin as explained here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301259
This didn't work. I get an error during install every time. After this I noticed when going into recovery (now stock) it would have an error immediately but then went into recovery. It would not let me clear the cache (after searching this seems to be common.) So I then did factory reset multiple times (didn't help) and next flashed a stock firmware that wipes my data. This had the same results as before. Do I have a corrupt recovery of some kind? Shouldn't flashing the stock firmware fix this? Do I need to get a new phone? Help!

i dont think you can update with an unlocked recovery... if you have cwm you have an unlocked recovery and i dont think you can relock it.
also you dont need to update if you have cwm then all you need to do is flash a MI1 rom (once they come out) and youre good. there is NO reason you would need to ACTUALLY update. you can flash pretty much everything whilst still keeping unlocked recovery under actual MDK firmware but with MI1 (or ME7) rom kernel and radios.

I would try using the me7 factory image that wipes everything and then try the upgrade.

There is no unlocked bootloader on the s4 what allows the installation of custom recovery is the loki exploit and its reversible.

There is no link or post on it really. Its a patched recovery and boot image so when you odin back to a factory image they get replaced with the non patched versions

Quick Qestion
I have a quick question, and i dont want to make a who new thread about it. But since we already talkin about it on here, is it worth it to do this Verizon update?? I just did a Verizon update 2 days ago. And now to me i think it just aggitated me. My Email are different now. My delete button moved and it added more buttons. And my task manager seems a lil different. Cant seem to put my finger on it.. But its weird. What else has changed? Was it even worth doing an update?

[Q] Need help to go from 4.1.2 to higher firmware

Hi everyone, i am on android 4.1.2/ 1.26.502.12. i got the phone when it came out. Back then i followed a guide similar or maybe same
[Tutorial] Root, Unlock, Recovery and flashing a Custom ROM. Now i have stock 4.1.2 rooted and bootloader unlocked with s-off
I wanted to update my firmware but because i have a custom recovery t.w.r.p i cant get updates straight from ATT.
i want to update without losing any settings or having my files deleted. How do i do that?
I have been away from modding my phone so iam not exactly fresh on everything.

Regardless of the method to do a complete update to the KitKat will require the phone and all data on it to be wiped. There is no way to avoid this. I would suggest backing all your stuff up to a PC if you wish to do this.

HTC M8 stuck on boot screen

hi everyone , i rooted my device couple months ago and it was all going well then i received an OTA update i followed the step to get the OTA update install a stock recovery, unrooted my phone and installed OTA update but now my just won't boot up. it is stuck on the white screen . I've tried everything i read a lot of threads on xda but nothing seems to be working . I tried installing twrp and stock recovery again but no luck . Someone please help.........
@darknight#1993,
Thanks for posting in XDA Assist. I will move your question to the HTC One M8 Q&A and Troubleshooting forum. The users there will be able to help resolve your issues.
Good luck,
-- Gandalf
The same thing happened to me over the weekend. After trying everything I gave up and used the official ruu from the HTC site. It sucks having to reinstall all the apps and set the phone up the way I like it but at least it's working again.

How did you unroot? If you just used the SuperSU unroot function (or similar) I don't think its enough. You need the fully stock unrooted ROM.
Also its not clear for your lack of detail if you are using the right stock recovery. What is your main version (firmware) number and what stock recovery did you use?
It will probably be easiest to RUU at this point, as the previous response mentioned. If s-on, you will need to relock the bootloader to RUU; and the phone will be wiped when you do so.
