I'm looking for something to improve the audio performance of phone running aokp. I searched and found lots of options including awesome, beats and Sony mods but nothing specific to my device. What is everyone's favorite because I know this Yamaha chip can do better than what it is doing now.

Yeah I mean why not just install them and see if they work? Worst case scenario you break something and have to use your nandroid backup.
search would yield many answers.... vodoo louder is what i use. if you're on siyah kernel, extweaks too.
Ok I will give those a try. I enjoyed using ex tweaks with shostock but it doesn't seem to have the same effect on aokp. On aokp the bass response seems much worse on aokp compared to shostock when playing the same song over the same stereo leading me too look for something else. I will also give voodoo louder a try as I had forgotten about that one. Thanks for the advice guys.

Mr Robinson Aroma has a proper awesome beats.
I'm using it right now.
And use Siyha(Aroma also have it) kernel to increase the output. You can found this option on ExTweaks.

Personally I use Poweramp. The EQ settings are the best IMO. Beats audio mods are crap bro. It is a "V" shaped equalizer, nothing more. If you like bass, go beats. I suggest getting the beats audio installer (if you want beats audio) from the Play Store because it gives you the "b" icon. To change volume levels you also can use Extweaks for Ktoons Siyah kernel to boost or lower the audio levels to your liking. IMO the Yamaha chip needs major EQ to get it to sound decent. I use the rock preset in power amp

Task has said that DSP is a CM feature and will not be in AOKP.

can somebody make audio codec or something that is equivalent to the sound of Windows Bass Boost Enhancement? it the settings are 50hz with 18db of boost. I find this to be very pleasing to the ear. I do have a rooted EVO 3D with beats audio and the bass just doesn't compare. the test song i used was Spitfire-Kill the Noise Remix By Porter Robinson(very bass heavy). so to recap could someone either make or link me to an app with controllable bass boost?
P.S. i have beats audio because i am using Leedroid's rom.

thank you everyone! to the guy who said use anthrax, i have no idea which file to download and when i did try to get one, it bootlooped my device so i had to reflash leedraoid which did not make me happy
Sorry about that problem. You first need to make sure you select the shooter or evo 3d (shooter) section. Then you need to determine cdma or gsm. Sprint is cdma. Also aosp version is for cyanogenmod or miui roms. I know it can be a little confusing.
I also want to warn you that some performance tweaks in roms can conflict with that kernel. You'll know if you get random reboots... But the sound improvements are incredible.

And this anthrax kernel is the right 1. However I don't know if it might conflict with scripts within the rom. Just sharing if you wanted to try it still. Make a nand backup before flashing just in case.

No it is named Volume+
Flash a ROM with DSP Manager installed. or push the necessary apk and libs to your existing ROM.
It contains a parametric EQ that allows you to boost the lower frequencies as well as all the others.
Yea, I would ditch the beats, go with dsp or power amp,
Volume+ just didn't do it for me.. I use power amp, im a bass head myself. In power amp, I turn of the limit and the tone part of the app. I use the sliders to get the sound I want...
Just the anthrax kernal alone with the beats drivers should make it sound better rather beats is on or not...

I would say PowerAmp is your best bet.
The app has a customizable EQ, with gain and pre-amp. It also has a nice little bass and treble knob to adjust it.
PowerAmp manages to let me crank the bass so high that I can barely hear anything else. Try it out?

OK so I know that the GS2 has the EU sound cap on it. And I know how to get to the service menu but that does t always work in CM10. My question is why is there no set sound level between ROMs? To see what I'm talking about, install Chameleon ROM and listen to audio using headset. Then try a CM ROM and you'll notice a huge loss of loudness.
Thoughts?

CM10 presently has a known volume bug.
You can use extweaks (with Siyah, dream or Dorimanx kernel) to boost three headset volume.
Or
download voodoo louder or similar apps to achieve that.

It's included by the way along with a TON of features! Follow the link then it'll link to main thread with all the downloads. Works with ICS and JB just make sure you download / install correct zip. They're working on a download specific for our Note but I'm using the one for CM10 and NO issues. Very loud bass and drums so you'll likely need to reconfigure you tuning.

I'm on liquid smooth and my awesome beats keeps force closing. I've searched the net on how to fix this and can't find an answer. I've wiped dalvik and fixed perms with no difference. I have it selected in musicfx and volume+ is the only DSP app that works for me
On latest PA and Walkman doesnt play... but it still sounds great on Google play music. Good find.

Yeah Sony Walkman utilizes the Awesome beats app. Power amp doesn't or at least not the bass boost option but still the sound is clearer on both.

There's others with weird issues too from what I've read. All I did was wipe cache and dalvic, install the zip, and it updated like 133 apps on first boot. Opened walkman app and fooled with the eq settings there then opened beats/DSP and moved a couple of settings. Not one fc or issue so far for me...

I would have to say Machine Head has been my favorite for some time.....but I was CRAZY about Slayer-(too satanic) and Pantera-(still am). Saw Hatebreed / White Chapel last week and was very sore the next day Going to GWAR next then I've got VIP tickets for Machine Head in Dec.
I've seen Spineshank twice in Atlanta. Tried to get into them but just couldn't.....nothing really interesting I guess.
Tried to install this and it borked my phone. I guess i downloaded the wrong file maybe.

I had this happen the other day, I reset the phone and first thing I did was click walkman and a song. It showed the pause icon, but didn't play the song so I closed the app and clicked it again and it worked fine. Seems to do this to at times when I use a different player like power amp first then use walkman right after.

Hi guys I wanted to share what I found to be working on my Sprint Optimus G.
I've been using this audio engine and the results have been pretty great.

Use the universal installation in aroma and remember if you install walkman don't install any add-ons.
I personally skip the walkman installation and use the noozy add-on.
Please do a nandroid backup before trying and do not install on top of nocturnal's music mod until someone verifies it does not cause any issues.
Remember not to use music player equalizer as the installed app changes sound system wide.
Also don't forget on first boot let device settle and then reboot.
BTW this has worked on my epic 4g, gs3, touchpad, asus transformer and evo 3d with just about the same results: amazing control over sound with great clarity and bass.
I haven't tested on a att version so don't know if it works with no issues as on my sprint version but, wanted to put it out there for your guys as well since I've also been reading these threads from the beginning.

Nothing beats Voodoo on the Nexus S or Galaxy S because the Galaxy S and Nexus S use a very good audio chip.
so, I've noticed that when using teh Nooz player, if i lock my screen, the music will play to the end of the track, but won't move forward to the next track unless I power on my phone. . . anyone else notice this?

Did the ACID installation along with the Walkman (like they suggested). Followed all the instructions. It gave me the ACID app, the Albums app, the Dolby Mobile app, and the Walkman app. However...
-I didn't get any service for some reason. Just a red X by my bars while I was using it.
-I get force closes every time I go into the Walkman app to mess with the sound enhancements. Literally doesn't let me do anything.
-My music doesn't play...AT ALL. On ANY music player
I followed the directions for version 6.1 perfectly too. Sucks because I just went to Slick Rom and got rid of Nocturnal (and their Sony enhancement app) so I wanted to bring some good sound quality back to the Slick Rom. Oh well...

That's because 6.1 doesn't work on our phones use v5. Works fine for me.

Don't do the 7.0 preview, either. Headphones won't work and you magically lose the ability to play mp3's.

What can I do to get the equivalent sound to Beats Audio in a CM Rom? I really want to stay on CM but I use my phone as mp3 player and the sound is just too low for me when using my headphones. Yes, I have cheap headphones but they sound really good when I'm using a Sense Rom with Beats Audio. I realize some will say it's just an EQ boost but I can't seem to replicate that in CM or find a replacement. I use Poweramp and I realize it has an EQ settings but doesn't seem to boost the audio enough for me. I like my music loud! LOL

AC!D+Poweramp+Noozxoide=Pure Effin Win!!!!! Eff Beats in the A!!!
P.S. another tip that might help you volume wise is on Poweramp if you go to your EQ screen the setting all the way to the left is your Preamp level. You can try turning it up as much as needed until you reach the volume you're looking for(hopefully without distortion).
