Hi, i have a problem with video player - i have live thumbnails on older videos recorded with other phone, but when I record with galaxy s3, thumbnails are not moving.. regardless of resolution of video :/ do you have any suggestions? i tried restarting phone, waiting for the video player to cache recorded ones, clearing data... i don't know what else could i do..
What's your ROM? Try clearing data and cache and see if it changes anything.

Nope, nothing changes. i tried UltimaROM and InsertCoin, but it's always the same. I also tried to record videos on internal storage, no success.

UPDATE: After clearing data, i gave it some time (few minutes) and it started moving one by one, i guess those full HD videos took a little longer to cache.

thanks for help anyway
Cleared data from where??
I am facing the same problem .
Did you clear the data from application setting>video player
Any thing else like deleting the thumbnails folders etc???
If you have just recently flash with a "Full Wipe", it takes a day or two to make the the thumbnail videos play again. it takes a while to scan those videos.

Hi guys (and girls hopefully) im a newbie here, this is my first thread..
Im having problem with my stock video n youtube app. It doesnt play videos like before,
Audio is ok but video seems to be stuck.. This happens when im watching videos on both stock video app and youtube app..
No video movement, only audio.. If I watched my recorded vids from camera, the video appears very laggy.
What could be the cause? Coz so far its been ok.. And how do I repair it? I tried clearing the cache but problem still persist..
Im running stock rom with Go launcher..
First of all which rom do you use....?

Maybe you dont have free ram try to use task killer to free some ram, or maybe your memory full try to delete soem napp, or maybe you have been installed recently some app which caused this.....
maybe resolution your video is too large...
if FLV format more than screen res. it make your video laggy even audio it's ok
convert your video to MP4 format
Im using stock rom.
The problem is, I could play the videos previously, but now the video just wont move..
I have to reboot my device and all will play well but only for 5 minutes and it will start lo lag..
I cleared my ram and all running apps but to no avail..
The last app I installed was weeks ago n I didnt have this problem :'(
Im thinking twice about reformatting my devicr..
do you try with other video format n resolution? like mkv,avi,mp4
well before this i had no problem viewing my videos.. it seems like my main video codec or something is messed up.. mp4 lags big time, 3gp ( phone recorded) lags but viewable.. my youtube app laggs bigtime and i have an AVI player, THAT lags too!
But today my video seems to be back to normal.. I have been viewing but no more problems..
now i'm just wondering what could be the cause?
You can try clearing the data and cache of the Youtube app in Settings>Application>Manage Application.
AlI did clear all the cache but I still lags..
But now the videos play well, thank for all your help
sorry if this has been posted before i really dont know what im doing buti have ics passion the newest build? and im having a problem with the music player it works for awhile and then it just goes in to "cannot play music at this time" and nothing works trying to get it to work and then i notice i have 5 of the same song and non of them play is there a fix to this or is there one on the way thnx
Yes it has but since this is your first post, we'll let it slide.
Go into Manage Apps->Musicplayer and clear cache and data. Reboot and Bam!! there you go.
Also don't forget for the future that your External_sd is now called EMMC just in case you need to direct something to your extsd card like 3rd party music player, camera,...
jyound New
it didnt work now it only shows one song but it still says it cant play the track you requested! am i the one person that had to get the busted samsung vibrant!

This happens to me as well and this is how I solve it.
First, force exit the music player (I use long-press on the back button).
Second go to manage apps > music player > clear data and clear cache
third restart music player and go to settings and refresh music from google music
Give it a little bit. It take mine about 20 minutes to complete the refresh but I have about 16GB of music on my phone.
This should solve it but for good measure, I reboot into recovery, clear cache, clear dalvik, and fix preferences.
Let me know if this helps.
That EMMC threw me off for the longest time. I bounced off a couple ICS ROM's before I realized the external was mounting fine, lol. They should put that in the OP of ICS ROM's
i tried clearing the data and cache and rebooted
i did everything and nothing i even tried to delete all music off of it and putting it back on and it gives me the same message immediately am i cursed?
is there nothing i can do
ive tried all of the above and still nothing is there anything i can do i really like using my phone as a music player its kinda important to me should i just switch to an iphone?
Have you tried another music player?
Install winamp. If it works, then try reinstaling google music.

ive done it all
ive tried win amp and something else and when i tried those it just never played the song and there would be like 6 of the same song and non of them would play
Is the file type .mp3? If so it should play just fine.
Can you play the songs from the file browser? Try using "file explorer" or "root explorer", navigate to the folder that contains the music files and see if it plays from there. Sometimes after a fresh flash I need to do this to get music player to find the rest of my music folders.
Goodluck!
p.s. If you break down and buy an iphone send the vibrant to me dogg!
Try PowerAmp. It doesn't rely on the Android music scan or library. This eliminates the problem with tracks appearing multiple times. It also uses its own codecs and supports more formats.

I agree with the post above!
I had the "cannot play music" issue and tried the clearing of caches etc. nothing worked so I downloaded Power Amp and have been happy ever since.
Hi All,
I've just started having this problem on my SGS3. LG8 Firmware, LH1 Modem. CF-Root 6.4.
Video player opens up ok (shows the animated previews ok) but when i go to play a video the screen goes blank for a second or 2 and i get the dreaded "Unfortunately, Video Player has stopped working". This also happens when i launch the video from the Gallery. It was working ok and i cant pinpoint any app i installed that could have caused this.
I've tried clearing the data for the Video Player application in the Application settings, no joy. The phone still records video fine and plays back videos ok on a PC or using MX Player on the device.
Any suggestions before i do a full wipe and restore?
Cheers

Reboot into CWM Recovery and clear the cache and dalvik cache, then reboot. See if that fixes anything...

Go into Settings / Apps / All Apps / Find video player and clear its data and cache. Most of the time it will solve all the propblems

Sorry, my bad. Didn't read the whole post :banghead:
May be a permission fix might help along wiping the dalvik cache as you have suggested.

Just tried that (cant believe i forgot!) . No dice though
I'll put up with MX Player for now - it works perfectly well and see if a solution presents itself
Only other thing I know to do would be to re-flash the firmware again and see if that helps.

What video player are you tryung to open.. my video?
Stock Samsung video player. I've cleared the cache and data within the application and still no dice..I really don't want to have to do a factory reset, not rooted (no titanium backup) and have WAY too much stuff I'd lose.

I never use the stock video player, MX player is the best one out there. Give it a try.
Thanks for the replies guys...I figured it out, a corrupt video file was keeping the app from opening! Duuuuhhhh lol
The YouTube app is not showing all of the videos I have uploaded. It will only display the last 15-20 I have uploaded. I tried signing out and back in with no change. I also tried clearing the cache with no change as well.
