hey,
I bought a month ago a new vibrant from the states and I installed Bionix rom and then Honeybee.
I have 2 problems with the battery:
the first one is when I'm rebooting the cellphone the percents of the battery status get down by 10-30%, for example: I had 45% and then after the reboot I got 22%, sometimes it's even fell to 0%.
the second one is that the battery is working only within 5-5 and half hours max with no Wi-Fi and normal-less usage, the display is taking at least 80% of my battery (as it write on the setting option), I do have juice defender and I tried to find out what application taking so much battery but no success (I used some programs like watchdog lite and etc.).
I tried to change the battery the other ones (even battery that works great on the I-9000).
**I've tried to calibrate the battery more than once.
anybody has some suggestions?
have you done a battery calibration
?
try a different kernel

yes I've done it already...
the next comment - I'm using Tigerbloodv3.22
I heard it's pretty good kernel.
Is it possible it's an hardware problem?
try bali 1.8 uv kernel
why dont you try going back to stock and see if the problem is is still there if it isnt try a differnt rom

I second this.
stock means to the original version?
if I want to do it, how can I save all of my contacts?

if you save them to the sim it wont matter
or back up contacts/calls with titanium backup, cant restore it on any other version though, just 2.2.1 if thats what honeybee is
back up anything else you want with titanium, preferable not system data unless you're just going to restore it to that version

Best way in my opinion is just to make sure you save everyone as a Google contact. That way they are backed up and restored automatically.

alright, I've done it, I got back to the stock but I STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM
when I'm rebooting the cellphone the battery status is changing by 20-30% less

try calibrating again, charge full, unplug, if it drops, plugin again, keeps repeating this till it stays at 100
then use a calibration app
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1024867
or boot into recovery and wipe battery stats
or do it through root explorer and reboot
it'll take a few charge cycles to settle in, charge full, run all the way down till its completely dead, charge full, run all way down again
alright, so I calibrated my cellphone and it is still with the battery problem... is it possible that there is an hardware problem?

dont know, my phone's done it a few times and i've had it jump up 30 or 40% aswell after a reboot so just leave it a few days, let it settle
or try a different battery
I flashed the Bali 1.2ghz kernel last night and my battery is now amazing! Unplugged my phone at 6:30am, its now 10:40pm and with heavy use I still have 22% left.

I've tried it already, 3 different battery
So this is the 2nd time it has happened but if my battery fully dies and i put the phone on the charger and try to boot it back up the phone just boot loops at the CM7 logo. I have tried putting in a fully charged Samsung battery i have but have had so success with that either. Only fix i have found is a data wipe. Trying to wipe either of the two cache's has no affect. This has happened on both JT's Kernel and Glitch's. Anybody experience anything similar??
Have you tried to charge the phone a little but while off before rebooting?

YES!!, this has happened to me before... same thing, battery ran out, phone died, and I was faced with a bootloop. Weird. The only thing that fixed it was a wipe.
This was on the a nightly CM, believe it was in the 70's. I'm using the telus fascinate, and the glitch kernel that time was 11. I've actually tested this out on the stable and it didn't happen again. Perhaps its been fixed, or I was just lucky.

Yea idk man. I know it happened to me once with one of the nightlys and then after that with the RC i think it may have happened an i was fine. A friend mentioned may be some type of issue that may or may not have been fixed but idk. I can live with it but rather then having to wipe data and restore if there was a simple solution that would be cool.

Yup tried that and even just putting my 2nd battery in. The 2nd battery usually has a charge of give or take 70% or higher and still bootloops.
Snce I have updated my GS2 to ICS my battery drains insanely fast. I don't even do anything with it. I go to the battery consumption table and it seems like the screen is overusing the battery. The rest are fairly normal percentage.
Like I mentioned in the beginning I only have this problem when i'm using ICS. Right now I have the stock ROM that I downloaded from SamMobile. When I'm using custom ROMs it gets worse. What could this be?
And yes I did try to search for similar problems, because it seems like a lot of people have problem with the battery but no one had the exact same problem as me.
I can just add that since I last charged my phone my screen has been on the lowest brightness and the phone had just been lying on my desk. I haven't even touched it. still 7% has been drained and the screen seems to do the job.
Does anybody know how to fix this?
Same to me....Plzzz guys...Help US.
Battery drain is the hotest topic on ICS these days. I believe the high RAM consumption of ICS is causing battery drain. Almost every ICS rom is having this issue. You are not alone. Relax and wait, you will see improvements.
-
In the mean while, you can install "betterbatterystats" to find out what is draining your battery. Good luck.

So when you clicked on display, it showed that screen on time is 1 hour, and your battery is currently at 77%? That isn't terrible, actually. That means you're on track for a little over 4 hours of screen on time before your battery will reach 0%. Average screen on time for full battery discharge is usually around 4-5 hours.
If you are using the phone, and the screen is on, the battery WILL drain.

No believe me this is not good battery time at all. I have screen on lowest brightness and barely use it. Even when it's just lying there with screen off it drains a lot. I mean I have had this phone since last summer so I have had it or a while and he battery was pretty good before. But since I updated to ICS the battery drains a lot faster than before.

You just said the screen said it was on for an hour, and the battery was at 77% in your post above. So was that not accurate?
If it is draining more since you upgraded to ICS, and you want it to get better, then you have three choices:
1 - Install BetterBatteryStats and other monitoring apps to figure out what is keeping wakelocks and other processes running on your phone that is draining battery...
2 - Do a factory reset/full wipe and see if it was an errant app you installed that could be draining the battery, then slowly start adding your apps back one by one... or
3 - Flash back to a Gingerbread firmware.

Yeah I guess you're right, but at the same time the battery is very very bad compared to before so I'm confused. Maybe I was just enjoying a really good battery time back on Gingerbread?
1. First of all that BetterBatteryStats is too complicated for me. I tried to use it before I didn't get it. What am I supposed to do when I find something that is draining my battery. Should I freeze it? Uninstall it?
2. I have tried this a lot of times, no change.
3. If I use Gingerbread for some reason the APN settings with at&t doesn't work properly. I lose connection very often. So I'll rather have worse battery time for now. Is there a solution to the internet connection?
Thanks man I appreciate you taking your time!

A factory reset? Then maybe a clean re-flash of the newest ICS could be worth a try then.

What modem/baseband are you using with Gingerbread, that could make a difference with mobile data dropping.
Also, what APN settings for AT&T are you using? There are a few different APNs. The two major ones are "wap.cingular", and "phone". The one you should actually use will depend on what kind of data plan you are signed up on.

When I'm on GB I use KL1. Is that what you're asking? I had no idea there were two different APNs... I use "wap.cingular"
Do you have the APNs for "phone?" It would be awesome to have that. Then I could just go back to GB until they fix it.
BTW I checked my battery stats again, 24% left. It says screen 56% and Time on: 1h 54min... So it's is pretty bad, right? . It dropped really fast.
Android OS is second with 15%.

APN for "phone" doesn't work unless you have a specific data plan - namely any 4G plan. So if I recall from some of your past posts, (I remember you now) you're on the non-smartphone data plan, right? Then the "phone" APN won't work for you if you are.

So you're running a clean flash? No downloaded apps installed yet? Yeah, that's terrible. Sorry to hear. I would go back to Gingerbread.
Reading stories like yours makes me glad I'm still ON Gingerbread.
The problem is that I'm not really using the screen that much. today I have just listened to music, not even used the screen that much. Just text a little bit an nothing else.
But still it shows up as if I have used the screen more then the other apps running in the background. Remember my screen is on LOWEST brightness level and I barely use it.

Stock XXKI3, (2.3.5) I have several mods though.
If all else failed, try shutting down your phone, take the battery out and clean the battery contact points. Dirty contact points might be the culprit.
Cheers.

Hi guys,
Not sure what could be the issue. I'm quite a veteran when it comes to troubleshooting these phones and flashing, etc. I've been a power user since the S1 and S2.
I flashed CM9 a few weeks ago, one of the stables and it was all running fine. One day I picked up the phone after charging overnight and it was really hot, the battery drained in about an hour or so, the whole time it was extremely hot.
I flashed a few other CM roms, which didn't fix much, tried full wipes and everything.
I've now gone back to an original samsung rom which I flashed via odin. This seems to have fixed the overheating issue, however, my battery barely lasts more than 3 hours on full charge and this is with absolutely minimal use (few phone calls).
WiFI is also extremely unstable. It takes a while to connect to any network, and when it does, it'll drop after a few minutes. I've tried different networks.
Scanning for WIFI networks works fine, so does this rule out a faulty WIFI chip?
I'm thinking the battery drain may be related to the WIFI card.
I've also tried a new battery.
Any suggestions, or is the phone fried?
A number of posts saying the same .

No, to get up your hopes, the phone isn't dead, yet.
Try flahsing a ROM, other than CM. I have the same problem, with AOSP, that's why I stick to sammy based ROMs, AOSP is made for the device, but Google only tunes it up to their standards, when it has something to do with their Nexus devices.
I'd say: Try a different ROM, don't overclock it. If that doesn't work, flash stock and then try it. One of the two should work, though!
I've gone back to a stock Samsung 4.0.1 rom. Flahed using odin, yet still the same issue with battery life and WIFI.
I've heard somewhere that flashing CM9 can cause WIFI issues, and there's a specific flash procedure to get it working normal again?
