X10 mini pro and boot-loop - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hi,
I've just got bricked u20i. I don't know what previous owner have done with this phone, but it has bootloop. I've tried to flash stock 2.1 with flashtool and seus with the same result. Phone normally enters flashmode and can be flashed. Is there any way to resurrect that phone?

Well..all you have to do is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1682966
You can solve the problem by searching.

It doesn't seems to be helpful to me. I just can't boot it - it looks to be frozen after second boot animation. I don't want to mod it (at the moment) but if I would, I should have rooted phone, but I can't do it, because it can't boot.

Maybe there's a problem with the sd-card, if it's missing, put one in, if there's one in the phone format it if you can.

If fresh firmware from SEUS Does not yield results there's a piece of hardware that's broken I suppose, don't think there's much you can do about that.

[Q] Will not boot - flashing black screen

Received a brand new Ace yesterday, and immediately rooted it with super one click with no problems.
However I then tried to run the 'Galaxy Ace Unlock apk' which I'd found elsewhere.
It generated an unlock pin, but after rebooting it stuck on the Galaxy Ace flash screen. After 5 minutes I pulled the battery out, waited, then rebooted. Now it doesn't even get to the Galaxy Ace screen when switched on.
The screen backlight comes on (with a black screen) for a couple of seconds, then off, then on - but it never gets any further.
So far I've tried
- Flashing Stock Froyo via Odin
- Flashing VillainRom via Odin
In both cases the phone enters download mode, Odin completes all steps without error, but on reboot I am left with the black screen of death again!
Anything else I could try?
I have the same problem.
Have you found a solution?

Just send it to the service center.
No other recovery method is know.
I have been in every forum arond for this kinda brick and there is no solution for YOU to do. Also there is absolutely no way for Samsung to see either say that after the first boot the battery went dead and it never started again. It will be covered by your warranty and brand new ace! Now dont go making stupid mistakes again hope i helped

Apk/sim bricked my phone.
Unlock Apk also bricked my phone in the same manner.
The app generating the code is not the problem on it's own, it's when you put the "other" Sim card in and reboot that does the damage.
I got a buzz when i could still get Download Mode and Odin gave me a PASS when i reflashed, but alas the phone never rebooted and it still flashed black at me.
I'm trying everything to bring it back to life before it goes to the Service Centre and i have to give them some blag as to why it's bricked.
Other than Download Mode i can get "Emergency Dload Mode"(ARM9) & RAMDUMP.

[Q] Bricked S5830, please help me

Hi all,
I have looked for a similar post, I found out that many people experienced something like that trying unlocking their phones, but I haven't found out any solution.
Here is my situation:
I have tried to unlock my s5830 (orange spain carrier), I have used a method which it seems to be dangerous for the phone, but of course I have found out it was dangerous after I have already tried it
Anyway after I discovered the unlock number contained in the perso.txt file in the efs folder, my phone restarted without service once and after that it went in a bootloop mode, it goes on a download mode, but there is no way to get back recovery mode or a normal boot.
I flashed the s5830 several times with many firmware, but no one worked, and the phone is still stuck in an infinite loop, in which I am not even able to see the samsung logo coming out at the very beginning.
I know many phones got bricked in this way, I wanted to know if anybody has been able to recover the phone or if anybody know any possible solution.
And if not, do you know if the warranty is covering this problem? I just got the phone a couple months ago; i have unlocked other devices before, but this is the first time I have experienced a problem so I am quite new about warranty as well. Please HELP ME
Merry Christmas guys!!!
Thanks in advance

Hehehe, bootloop is horrible, you just have to get in download mode & flash with 2.3.4 firmware with Odin, just that steps and you save your SGA.

he cant go back in recovery mod............
If you can go to recovery mode than you can just wipe the data and cache. This saved me many times. Otherwise on what ever OS you may be , just create new user name after removing samsung android drivers. Login from new user name and than re install drivers again and now flash your phone from firmware which was installed on your phone before you bricked it. This helped me a few times.

It seems that you've already received a lot of help for unbricking your device. So I'll try to help out in unlocking your phone after you finished unbricking it.
This is the method I personally used on my locked Ace:

thank you very much I will follow your advice...IF I will be able to get my phone back which seems impossible =(
@dr_vishal
Thank you first of all, I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the android device driver, but it doesn't seems to be the problem, Odin ends with a "PASS" at the end, I guess there still is comunication in the between the two devices...
Hopefully it will be a Merry Christmas =)
It's not impossible. I'm relatively new here but I have noticed quite a few "bricked" threads already. Most of them (if not all) have been able to fix their device. I haven't seen a single person permanently brick their device, so I would guess that your chances of fixing it are really high. Just be patient and keep describing your situation and more experienced help will certainly arrive. I'd really like to help out but I have no idea how to fix it as I have not experienced bricking my phone yet.
Anyway, if the method for unlocking I suggested works for you kindly press the Thanks Button. Merry Christmas!

just a thought
a lot of people have talked about reflashing it and all but have you managed to get into the recovery mode at all once you have reinstalled the rom with odin? if you can get to that you just need to hit factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik and normaly after that it will work fine... so far ive been stuck in soft brink 3 times and each time doing the wipes from the recovery mode has worked...

I've tried to use the oneclick, but it seems it doesn't recognize the phone, since, i guess, it's made for a galaxy s.
The others are not my case, since I am able to get download mode, and all these are made to can get it back.
Anyway I found out a post in which the people were talking about the s5500, which apparentely is similiar to my device, and the owners of that model experienced a similar problem doing the same process....anyway in that post the people needed to use a Jtag, which is the only way to get it back....so I though it could be the same solution for my problem...but I don't know anybody with Jtag, so the only way is contacting the service center.
thanks anyway, when I will be back at home after Christmas I will try to find the ticket and I will probably try to get it back in warranty, since is preatty new...
@torchwolfery
I am not able to reach recovery mode, there is no way to get it back, even flashing the phone with different firmwares, all I got is download mode, and apparently that is completely pointless...since the only change in the phone behavior is that if i install a certain firmwares it doesn't even have the back-light working when it is stuck in bootloop.
Warranty is your only hope (as it was mine once and it worked).
I didn't think it was possible to brick these phones. There I have tried so much to try and brick it but I have not been able to as it still always goes into 'download' mode. The only advice I can give you is double check that you are using the correct version of Odin which is v4.38 and that you use cooper v1.0 as your OPS. If dont mind me asking, but exactly what did you do or do you remember the steps you took to brick it? What buttons are you using for 'recovery' mode.
Also please clarify if Odin is going in a loop or does the phone come on and then keeps rebooting? If it is the phone that keeps rebooting, then wiping cache and data partition should do the trick. This can be done by going into recovery mode (which I am aware you cannot get into) or if you can manage to get into the dialler quick enough before the reboot, by dialling *7267*3855# and that should format the relevant partitions (data and cahce) and bring it back to factory settings. Without further info, I cannot really tell exactly what the situation is.
The fact that you are getting 'download' mode, I dont think that it is bricked because it will still allow you to write the relevant directory/files to the relevant blocks. Either way, would be interested to know.

SE Xperia X10a refuses to boot no matter what

Okay, I was told to go here since people on AndroidForums.com had no clue on what to do.
Okay, here are my problems -
I received this Android from my mom and it was running Android 2.1. When I first got it, I turned it on without charging it. It booted up, came to the lockscreen, then about a second later turned off and now refuses to boot. I have tried flashing it with generic Android 2.1 and Stock ATT Android 2.1. But it refuses to do nothing but flashes a green light and vibrates. But that all it does. And PC Companion, SEUS, FlashTool have done nothing! So what do I do now? It accepts Flashes and restores, but it's like the Boot Files are corrupted. And I cannot JTAG, so is there any other options?
Thanks in Advanced,

I had quite the similar issue with my x10i. One day it just decided to stop working completely. No lights no nothing, tried everything, just dead. So I contacted SE and they said they could do nothing if the software had been tampered with, no matter how much I assured them if was a hardware related fault.. So I went to my carrier and they sent me to a phone repairing company (Fonemenders here in Ireland), who try fix the phone themselves by getting parts in from the manufacturers. If they deem your phone irreparable they will get you a new replacement. This is exactly what happened me. So the other day I received an email saying that seeing as my x10 couldn't be fixed, I'd be receiving a Sony Arc as a replacement! So i'm happily waiting for the Arc to get here while I use my moms old x8.
So my best advice if nothing is working, go to your carrier and hopefully they can get you through to a phone repairing place, and I wish you as good luck as my own
Well, I cannot replace the Phone since I am not really using it as a Phone. It will not be activated, it's just to mess around with. And I really don't want to buy a Samsung Galaxy Player just so I don't have to deal with this. So I'm going to try the Stock ROM now and see if it works. Do I have to wait for boot up or something?
Try to flash with SE Companion. It will work.
Well, I restored using SEUS because it's the only one that recognized the phone, other than FlashTool. After it restored, it said Unplug the phone and wait for first time. It will take a while. So I am currently doing that. Hope it turns on!
Well, I've restored it and it still sits here. What's next?
I am going to try to flash it using s1tool and see if that helps. Also, can someone please respond with what they think is wrong?
Okay, here's another question - In order to load the firmware you told me, does my Bootloader have to be UNLOCKED? If so, how do I do that without ROOT... Because I cannot do anything with the Phone.

I have a question for you... is the phone rooted ? If not then try following
1) start your PC companion and select update software
2) if software say, your phone is up to date then use here will be repair option you need to select it.
3) once you select repair it will download stock GB 2.3.3 and after download it will ask you to plug you phone in flash mode
4) remove phones battery and connect the phone to your laptop.
5) now place the battery back while holding down the back button (3rd button from left) { this step is important as this will get your phone into flash mode.
6) above steps should get your phone back onto stock unrooted ROM...
if you want then use flash tool to root it again but be careful with kernels and bootloader
Set from my Transforer TF101 using xda app-developers app
Well, I think I have tried that and it still won't boot. But I will try again. (PS - Sorry for this old thread, but I just needed a break on working on it! I am going to try again and see if it works!)

Xperia Ray Stuck on Boot Screen

I bought a couple of faulty phones off eBay with the hope of fixing them.
I have an Xperia Ray st18a that gets stuck on the Sony boot screen.
I can go into flash mode and tried updating. it appeared to go ok, no errors, but still stuck on boot logo.
I can't get into fastboot. The LED turns green and a battery icon appears on the screen for a moment. The only device that shows up in device manager at this point is a drive. I tried updating the driver to the one provided on the various fastboot threads here, but it says it's not for this device.
I suspect it's not getting into fastboot mode.
I've tried flashing stock roms using flashtool and they seem to flash ok, but still get stuck on boot logo.
Any ideas of what I can try?

But you are sure you installed drivers from flashtool folder -> drivers ? Cause normally it should work. Or the bootloader is locked and it's another problem...
To get fastboot working you must have sdk tools and here is the modified android_winusb file, that xperia devices are supported by fastboot. Maybe look there
Yea, done all that. It looks like this one has a locked bootloader and is SIM locked, so fastboot is disabled. So there's no way for me to get to fastboot as I can't get past the boot screen

Maybe you could try here Turning the brick into a smartphone.
But if it boots up until the screen appears it shouldn't b bricked...
Yea thanks. I can get into flash mode and I am able to successfully flash different firmware, but no matter which one I try, it just stops on the boot screen

What about repairing using sony ericsson update service? Maybe you can repair it like this. Or it could brick 50/50
Tried the SE update tool too. It installs firmware ok, but then still gets stuck on boot screen....

Hmmm....don't think I've tried that. isn't it the same as the SE update tool?
If not, I'll give it a try.

I don't know excactly, but pc companion -> support zone -> I don't know. There is an option for repairing, don't know what it does, maybe give it a shot
But I think it'll just reinstall the stock rom again, cause you start with your phone plugged off and then you have to plug it in in flashmode, so I think it's like flashtool...
Just tried PC Companion. It updated the firmware no problem, but still getting stuck on boot screen
scotsman, are you able to boot? are still stuck at boot screen??? im having same issue too... tried flash kernel, rom... non works... (

Sorry, I ended up selling the phone as it was bricked and unable to be revived.
I have the same problem. I'm a noob, so please bear with me =). I was able to root the st18. It came with a gingerbread. I wanted to try and upgrade it so I flashed ST18i_4.0.4_T.ftf, got stuck on the start screen. It showed the new Sony logo then the sony ericsson logo then loops. I can go to recovery, however I'm stuck (yes, noob me). I have another st18 - can I use it to fix the other? If any can direct me how to fix it, I will be eternally grateful. =)

I'm downloading it now. I'll post if it works. It took some time to find a gingerbread ftf, some I found can't be recognized by the flashtool. Hopefully, this one works. Thanks for the tip!

I have exactly the same problem with my once perfectly working st18i. it was uk orange branded, sim locked with a unlockable bootloader. I did a seus update as recommended by sony and it messed the phone up. I should have done it over the air only.
Any help or advice would be appreciated as the phone is mint and Id love to use it again.

[Q] X10mini Pro completely dead!

First of all, I wanted to say hello since this is my first post here :victory: and also please if I am posting wrong or if this question has been answered before forgive me, but I have already searched on google and on this forum and found no related posts Ok now about my problem:
I have a "Sony Ericsson Xperia X10mini Pro" with MiniCM10-4.1.0-20130416(mimmi) and 2.6.32.60-nAa-jb-05 kernel installed. Yesterday I decided to go back to U20_nAa-14_2.6.29.6-nAa-14 kernel and MiniCM7-2.2.1-mimmi-UNOFFICIAL because of wifi problems. I have done the flashing process with flashtool a lot of times in the past and I can't be wrong with it this time.
The problem started after flashing my kernel. Flashtool flashed the U20_nAa-14_2.6.29.6-nAa-14 kernel fine and phone was OK ready to reboot, so I unplugged the USB cable to start it on recovery so I could install Minicm from SD, but since I unplugged the cable the phone is DEAD! No led and no charging! :crying: When I try to reflash it, flashtool doesn't recognize it, I am pressing the back button and plugging it in but the phone is not recognized. It is not charging when I am plugging it on the charger and its not even trying to boot. I tried different cables, different battery (from a friend with the same phone) and nothing. Is there a way to force flash it back? Please any help will be appreciated since I have tried everything I know...
This has happend to other users too reasently.
I'm not sure if it only happens when going from JB to GB or it also happens when going from GB to JB.
We need to investigate why/how it happens and how to prevent it.
I always recomend to do a battery stat whipe just before a planed kernel-flash. I had simular problem once (no charge, no boot, no nothing) after a kernel-flash. I solved it by putting in a battery from another Mimmi (my wife has the same model). For some reason everything worked fine doing so. After battery stat whipe, the phone worked with my own battery again.
Best advise for others is for now: When you want to flash new kernel, first do a SEUS/PC Companion repair
This should be written into all install-instructions and mentioned again and again to avoid same problem for others.
I'm not sure how the other users solved this. Was it only by JTAG?
Thank you for your answer! :good:
First of all, there was no battery wipe option on this release of the kernel As I said before I have done it a couple of times in the past and every time with battery wipe, except this one and besides, I already tried your solution with my friends battery with no luck... So probably I am looking for another solution.
And one last thing about your post, what is "JTAG"?? I have seen it on other posts before but without explanation as to what it is, the only JTAG I know of is on the xbox360 And if its a possible solution how can I possibly do it? Is there a post with instructions?? (I will search on my own too now, but a recommended guide from someone who knows better is much appreciated!)

I'm pretty sure he flashed the x10blrelock.ftf instead of the u20 kernel and that is why his phone went dead.
A JTAG for our phone will do basically the same thing as a JTAG for the xbox, it restores original phone-state, but you need special equipment to do it, which is quite expensive. Most repair-shops will have one.

Thank you for the answer about jtag, I also checked for myself and found about the expensive equipment and propably its not the way for me
But about the kernel I am pretty sure it was the right file...
I know that a dead phone means bad kernel but its a process that I have done before a lot of times with success on mine and other phones My best guess is that something interrupted the process (bad usb cable?) or corrupted downloaded kernel file If that's the case is there an alternative solution? :crying:

Usually, whatever you flash, even if it goes bad, flashmode is still available because that doesn't get tampered with, the only true hardbrick i've ever seen is when flashing that x10blrelock.ftf, which happens quite a lot lately.
Just for fun i even formatted my entire phone once, no kernel, no rom, completely empty, and flashmode was still there so it could be recovered.
I noticed that in some older versions of flashtool you sometimes had to click the kernel you wanted twice in order to get it to pick up the right one. Normally there's not much difference you can spot (most .ftf's just contain a loader and a kernel), but i had full SE firmware in .ftf format, which contained other sections too, and that's where i noticed it didn't always pick it up right at the first time of clicking.

SmG67 thank you again and I will delete x10blrelock.ftf just in case....
hi guys, i have the same problem too, when my rom is minicm10 and my kernel is jb-naa-05, i want to go back to MiniCM7 because of green screen camera in MiniCM10 so i go back to MiniCM7, I flashed the right kernel e10-2.6.29.6-naa-14 for my x10 mini via flashtool and after i flash the kernel, my phone does not booting up(5 mins no booting up) so i decided to use seus but seus does not recognize my x10 mini, i try flashtool, but flashtool is not recognize my x10 mini so i tried to flash my created stock 2.1.ftf(thanks to leajian) and selected x10 mini from device selection(my x10 mini is not recognize in flashtool), then i wait until it finish, when i tried to open my phone, it boots up and show sony ericsson logo and it boots up(sucess!!!)...
sorry for my english...
so for all MiniCM10 Users, Dont try to go back to MiniCM7 If your Rom is MiniCM10 because it will cause your phone to not booting up like my problem.

If you follow nAa's instructions properly, there is no problem.
What you have to do:
Wipe data/factory reset in CWM on the JB-kernel
Flash the GB-kernel
Format /system, /data en /cache, so they get back to the original sizes
Flash the GB-ROM, or restore a previous GB-backup you may have had
No problems at all...
And your phone still had flashmode available, unlike the OP of this thread, so you don't have the 'same' problem
