Okay, I was told to go here since people on AndroidForums.com had no clue on what to do.
Okay, here are my problems -
I received this Android from my mom and it was running Android 2.1. When I first got it, I turned it on without charging it. It booted up, came to the lockscreen, then about a second later turned off and now refuses to boot. I have tried flashing it with generic Android 2.1 and Stock ATT Android 2.1. But it refuses to do nothing but flashes a green light and vibrates. But that all it does. And PC Companion, SEUS, FlashTool have done nothing! So what do I do now? It accepts Flashes and restores, but it's like the Boot Files are corrupted. And I cannot JTAG, so is there any other options?
Thanks in Advanced,

No, because I charged it all night and tried to turn it on with no success. So that isn't the problem...
Flash 2.3 firmware then do root, recovery(just in case you don't have it) and a kernel.

I had quite the similar issue with my x10i. One day it just decided to stop working completely. No lights no nothing, tried everything, just dead. So I contacted SE and they said they could do nothing if the software had been tampered with, no matter how much I assured them if was a hardware related fault.. So I went to my carrier and they sent me to a phone repairing company (Fonemenders here in Ireland), who try fix the phone themselves by getting parts in from the manufacturers. If they deem your phone irreparable they will get you a new replacement. This is exactly what happened me. So the other day I received an email saying that seeing as my x10 couldn't be fixed, I'd be receiving a Sony Arc as a replacement! So i'm happily waiting for the Arc to get here while I use my moms old x8.
So my best advice if nothing is working, go to your carrier and hopefully they can get you through to a phone repairing place, and I wish you as good luck as my own
Well, I cannot replace the Phone since I am not really using it as a Phone. It will not be activated, it's just to mess around with. And I really don't want to buy a Samsung Galaxy Player just so I don't have to deal with this. So I'm going to try the Stock ROM now and see if it works. Do I have to wait for boot up or something?
Try to flash with SE Companion. It will work.
Well, I restored using SEUS because it's the only one that recognized the phone, other than FlashTool. After it restored, it said Unplug the phone and wait for first time. It will take a while. So I am currently doing that. Hope it turns on!
Well, I've restored it and it still sits here. What's next?
I am going to try to flash it using s1tool and see if that helps. Also, can someone please respond with what they think is wrong?
Okay, here's another question - In order to load the firmware you told me, does my Bootloader have to be UNLOCKED? If so, how do I do that without ROOT... Because I cannot do anything with the Phone.

Well, it won't let it. It either doesn't recognize the device or it returns a error... =/
I cannot flash the firmware that you suggested! It get's to system.sin and then aborts with no error information...
Any additional help?

I have a question for you... is the phone rooted ? If not then try following
1) start your PC companion and select update software
2) if software say, your phone is up to date then use here will be repair option you need to select it.
3) once you select repair it will download stock GB 2.3.3 and after download it will ask you to plug you phone in flash mode
4) remove phones battery and connect the phone to your laptop.
5) now place the battery back while holding down the back button (3rd button from left) { this step is important as this will get your phone into flash mode.
6) above steps should get your phone back onto stock unrooted ROM...
if you want then use flash tool to root it again but be careful with kernels and bootloader
Set from my Transforer TF101 using xda app-developers app
Well, I think I have tried that and it still won't boot. But I will try again. (PS - Sorry for this old thread, but I just needed a break on working on it! I am going to try again and see if it works!)

Hey guys
So, i decided to try and root my phone and i think i cleverly chose to use a really old method and subsequently my phone is now pretty much bricked. It used to be software V2.1
now, whenever i turn it on (I need to take out the battery and put it back in to restart it) It goes to the sony ericsson splash screen, then a "MTT Docomo" screen and then the screen turns blank and stays like that. I got halfway through a guide i found somewhere on the internet and now this is happening D=
I can't repair it in the sony ericsson pc suite (it detects a phone but asks me to connect it etc. which i can't do).
I've read a bit around and i think the answer is using flashtools? Can i still do that when my phone's in this state? Sorry if this is a common question, couldn't find any similar cases though =S I'm not completely sure what to do... any suggestions?
Thanks!
yes, you're right, my opinion is you must have to flash your phone properly with a clean stock rom before retry to flashing your phone another time.
And to make it properly is to use flashtools method (see thit link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343, there is a perfect tuto made for that)
And you could also use the root function included in Flashtool if you still want to root your phone
You should still be able to repair w/SEUS ("pc suite") or use flashtool.
X10 is pretty unbrickable.
To get into flash mode in your phone's current state take out the battery, connect the usb, hold the back button, and then replace the battery.
Hope this helps.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies!
I went through the flashing guide above and managed to get my phone working again (you were right, i could still start it up in flash mode if i took out the battery etc. first), and rooting it was pretty easy =)
Thanks again guys, the forum's a great resource.

you just saved my bacon mate. got an xperia play but decided to have a play about with unlocking the bootloader on my old x10. needless to say i cocked up and bricked the phone. followed your post and finally managed to get flashtool to sort it. many thanks

Hey,
I'm afraid I managed to somehow brick my X10 (although I know you all say that's impossible). But here's the problem:
My phone is on the cyanogenmod 6.1 (gingerbread), and was working perfectly fine for over a few months. But two weeks ago he suddenly went off, and I can't restart him. I think the phone freezes the moment the boot loader should load android. Because when I press the ON button, the LED flashes green, and the phone vibrates (as it would normally do), but then nothing! And the phone doesn't respond to anything else I do then. The only thing I can do is take out the battery, put it back in, and were back in the beginning stage
I tried to repair with SEUS and PC Companion. When it asks to plug in flash mode (plug in while holding the back button), I do so, and the PC recognizes the phone. But when it tries to repair, I get an error after a while. The progress bar shows no process at all, so I think the error is a time out error, because the phone is frozen.
I don't know what to do any more know, and I'm not really looking foreword to buying a knew phone already! So I hope you guys can help me!

Have you tried flashtool? Its worth a shot.

Tried, but I don't seem to find an entire rom to flash. Most roms I find are .zip or .7z, and those files don't contain an .ftf file.
Do know were I could find one?
Im on my phone now so I cant post a link, but search for "flashtool firmwares" in the devs section. It will take you back to stock 2.1 (Or 2.3 depending on the firmware you get)

Tried Flashtool, but no succes! It says "Error Flashing. Aborted". No luck with that! But thanks anyway!
There must be some other way I can repair my phone..
i have exactly the same problem with my x10i, it only vibrates continuously but won't boot,
i tried everything, flashing with generic firmwares 1.6, 2.1 and 2.3.3 and repair using PC companion and SEUS still nothing ( i make sure that i have 50% battery before flashing)
when flashing it enters flash mode without even pressing the back key, when hooked to charger green LED lit immediately as if (flash mode)
i taught it was the LCD but i tried to use another xperia x10i motherboard and the LCD works fine (i have 2 xperia x10i btw)
any help will be much appreciated.
use the search option on this forum!

Hi mates!
Few months back I unlocked my bootloader and recently used many custom ROMs and kernels. Unfortunately I could not use my wifi properly - I was on FreeXperia kernel and at very start wifi worked ok, but it stopped finding any networks after couple days of rom usage. Problem was reported on the Android Development sections in the ROM thread by many users, so I thought it will be fixed soon. Couple days ago I switched to DoomKernelv3, his wifi modules and Oodies MIUI ROM - worked perfectly but my wifi worked occasionally and stopped working again. I got back to stock now and I'm on Z's Recovery (very first one I used and had no wifi problems) and problem with no wifi networks still persists. Did I brick my wifi somehow? Is it possible? Does anybody experienced similar problem?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
hey
honestly... i think there is a hardware problem in your phone....
cuz even after switching rom's you still have the same problem....
i would sugggest that your use seus and get back to stock version... and just get it fixed by them.....just keep saying them that wifi doesnt works and all.....

just open seus.... support->update phone->repair phone written in red color->wait and then from the list of phone choose your's->now take the battery out for 5 seconds(15sec might also work)->put the battery in->press back button and keep pressing it and then connect the usb cable....->it would flash the stock rom back plus automatically lock the bootloader again....
VOILA....
claim your phone is having hardware problems to the repair guys..... if under warranty

Hi!
I have had the same problem as you. Still after repairing it in PC Companion, the problem was still there.
So I left the phone for couple of days because I got Xperia S, and when I turned it on one day and searched for WiFi networks, it finally found some networks!!!
I don't know what 'fixed' it, but I think it's a hardware issue and I was going to get it repaired until it fixed itself

I repaired the system with SEUS, no Recovery or root available anymore. I assume bootloader is locked back. Wifi works same way as it worked. Is there some wifi debug software to figure out what is going on?
Anyone?

My Acro S is running a stock 6.1.A.2.45 with CWM, rooted an bootloader unlocked, it has been working fine with this firmware for almost 2 weeks, today out of nowhere i switch the phone off for a reboot and it refuses to come on, it can go into fastboot and and flashboot however it does not power on, it's been plugged in the charger for almost an hour but it dosen't show any sign of life, no led blinking no Sony logo, nothing and when i try to force reboot by holding up and power off it just gives a little vibration and nothing happens, please help! sending back to the service center is not an option as in my country Sony service is crap as it's done through a third party company that hire retards exclusively, not to mention that they will rip me off as i got my phone from another country.

Nothing mate, no led, no log, no nothing as i said it just vibrate when i force reboot and can go into flash/fastboot mode, anyway the battery was almost dead when i turned it off to reboot and now i am not sure if it's charging to begin with hence why i am too scared to flash it and risk permanent bricking, do you think i should leave it for a while on the charger first?
Also would it be too much if i ask for a link to the stock rom as the one i had is not on this pc anymore?
Yeah you should leave it for charging for an hour or two.
I'm not too sure about the link. Browse through the dev section you'll find one

Okay thanks,
Regarding the ftf i don't think that it has been posted before, the one on my phone is russian and i don't recall where i got it from, i found another that's Malaysian however i really need the international version this time, do you think i should start a thread requesting it?
Okay i fixed it however the flashing didn't work and until now for the life of me i am trying to figure out what happened, anyway here is what happened and how i got it back working, maybe it will help someone in the future.
1.The first 2 flashing attempts failed without any explanation in the log, i then tried to re-install the flashtools drivers and went for a 3rd attempt, this one did not fail although it did not succeed either it remained stuck on retrieving device information.
2.I went to Sony software update standalone software, it requested from me to put the device into flash mode, i did but then it refused to update as my device had modified software, then i went to the pc companion and made an attempt to fix the device but of course i got the infamous server busy error.
3.My last hope was to go into fastboot mode and attempt to flash back the stock kernel.sin, that did the trick, the phone went back up and as i suspected it wasn't charging during the incident as the battery was down to 1% and it turned off as soon as it went on, it's now turned on and charging without any issues however i am really curious to find out what happened, i will charge the phone back to 100% then i will flash back the previous kernel that caused the issue,
For reference both kernels are found in this thread:

It happened now again after i tried to boot into recovery using the xparts app, i had to reflash the kernel to unstuck it and this time i flashed the old kernel that had CWM, the one that initially got stuck and everything is back to normal, but i am really curious to know what's wrong.
Did you ever find out what was wrong with it? My phone won't charge no matter what I do to it. Kernels, stock ftfs, all custom roms I could find. I'm thinking about replacing the battery cause I can't keep the phone on for more than a few seconds....
OK Im pretty new to Android flashing etc, so go easy please
Customer brought in X10i locked to Orange-UK and running firmware 1.6
I used flashtool to flash 2.1 rom and after flash completed, phone boots to SE logo (writing) and then is stuck.
I have tried updating using both SEUS and PCCompanion. Both say that they have updated the phone successfully but phone still does not start.
After flashing with PCC boot process was same problem as before except I briefly saw an image of a camera and a blue arrow pointing down to a phone.
After flashing with SEUS, the phone does not start at all. When I press the power button I see red led flash 3 times repeatedly.
I thought maybe battery has died, so I have connected to mains charger.
Now the phone seems flashes red led once (repeatedly) for about 2 minutes, then led changed to solid green for about 2 minutes, then powers-up to SE logo/writing and camera/blue arrow image briefly, before repeating the process again.
I am not sure if the phone is charging or not? (or maybe battery is not even depleted?)
I am trying to unlock the phone for my customer using SETool or (Omnia?) but both say that 1.6 is not supported and handset must be flashed to 2.1
Seems like I have fallen at the first hurdle
I have searched the www and read forums and tutorials etc and have been at this for nearly 7 hours solid now
Please help.
Thanks.

The red flashing light sounds like battery issue! Do you have another x10 to charge the battery?
Have you rooted the device and unlocked the bootlaoder?
If so and you can enter xrecovery and flash a custom ROM wolfs for example?
Simply power off the device unplug USB cable and just press back button repeatedly while it starts up!

Hi,
Thank You for replying.
You are absolutely right about the battery/flashing lights. I have charged the battery externally and the red flashing light issue has gone.
The phone now powers up to SE writing, then camera and blue arrow, then back to SE writing and stops.
The phone was fully working on Orange-UK before I flashed it. It looked as though everything on it was stock and it had never been flashed or updated ever.
I have not tried to root it or unlock bootloader (Im not even sure what unlocking bootloader means?)
What can I try next to bring this back to life?
Should I just keep trying to flash different roms?
Maybe I should try to flash stock Orange-UK firmware?
Thanks for your help so far, and look forward to your reply

Sorry I dont mean to double post or annoy anyone but please can someone help me with this.
Thats nearly another day and still I am stuck at SE logo/writing
I have flashed 5 or 6 different roms now, all with same end result.
I think I am missing something somewhere?
Do I need to upgrade/downgrade kernel?
and what is usb debugging setting? I set it to 'on' when phone was working at the very start, but I think now it is off.
Do I need this to be on before flashing? and if so, how do i do this if the phone is not booting?
Thanks.

You will need the phone to boot up to put debugging on! This needs to be on to root the device! It wont root without it. It makes sense why your stuck at se logo im sure if you flash the wrong firmware to the phone it wont boot up flash the orange firmware 2.1 or 2.3. British orange version then root using flashtool and use the program in the link above to unlock the sim
Let me know if it works?!!
Good luck!!

Thanks m8, I'll give that a go. Battery has just died again, so giving it another charge just now.
Just a point to notw? - When i update the phone in SEUS, the process tells me that the update has completed successfully, but phone doesnt boot, and if I connect to SEUS again, it tells me that an update is available and this goes 'round in circles'
Is it possible that the phone somehow isnt actually getting flashed properly?
anyways will try the Ora-UK firmware first.
Should I look for stock 1.6 as that is what wason it originally? or can i go right ahead with 2.1?
Also where can I download these from? The only links I found for 2.1 orange were dead (megaupload)
Thanks for all your help so far m8. I appreciate it

m8 you are a star
I got firmware from omnius and unzipped and made a couple of modifications (as per tutorial on the site)
flashed my newly created ftf file and the phone booted
Back to running stock 1.6
I need to make sure I do things properly this time.
Can you give me any pointers as to the correct tutorials to follow?
I just want to unlock the phone so it will accept a Vodafone sim card.
Not too bothered about debranding and custom roms etc.
Thanks.
