[Q] WIFI keeps searching and didn't find anything. - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi mates!
Few months back I unlocked my bootloader and recently used many custom ROMs and kernels. Unfortunately I could not use my wifi properly - I was on FreeXperia kernel and at very start wifi worked ok, but it stopped finding any networks after couple days of rom usage. Problem was reported on the Android Development sections in the ROM thread by many users, so I thought it will be fixed soon. Couple days ago I switched to DoomKernelv3, his wifi modules and Oodies MIUI ROM - worked perfectly but my wifi worked occasionally and stopped working again. I got back to stock now and I'm on Z's Recovery (very first one I used and had no wifi problems) and problem with no wifi networks still persists. Did I brick my wifi somehow? Is it possible? Does anybody experienced similar problem?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

hey
honestly... i think there is a hardware problem in your phone....
cuz even after switching rom's you still have the same problem....
i would sugggest that your use seus and get back to stock version... and just get it fixed by them.....just keep saying them that wifi doesnt works and all.....

very easy mate....
just open seus.... support->update phone->repair phone written in red color->wait and then from the list of phone choose your's->now take the battery out for 5 seconds(15sec might also work)->put the battery in->press back button and keep pressing it and then connect the usb cable....->it would flash the stock rom back plus automatically lock the bootloader again....
VOILA....
claim your phone is having hardware problems to the repair guys..... if under warranty

I don't think seus locks your bootloader you have to use s1 tool I'm pretty sure I may be wrong though
sent from my x10 using xda premium

it does lock.... coz every-time i got f'd while flashing i used seus and had to unlock the boot-loader every-time.... even though i checked with s1 tool first if the boot-loader was locked or not....
any way if you r on stock rom... those repair guys... wont even notice that you flashed the device

Hi!
I have had the same problem as you. Still after repairing it in PC Companion, the problem was still there.
So I left the phone for couple of days because I got Xperia S, and when I turned it on one day and searched for WiFi networks, it finally found some networks!!!
I don't know what 'fixed' it, but I think it's a hardware issue and I was going to get it repaired until it fixed itself

I repaired the system with SEUS, no Recovery or root available anymore. I assume bootloader is locked back. Wifi works same way as it worked. Is there some wifi debug software to figure out what is going on?
Anyone?

From Setool support. You must have Setool box or dongle to be able to flash/unlock sonyericsson devices.
setool3-box.org
files.setool.net/support/SETool2
So you unlocked the bootloader flashed the Kernel and then got the Same Problem like me and your solution is to Flash the older Firmware and this worked for you?

Hello all,
I'm also fighting with this problem. Has anybody more information for the reason of this bug?
My Phone:
Xperia Mini Pro SK17i 1249-0812 TYPE: AAD-3880104-BV
Bootloader is unlocked.
The Status:
My Phone is booting and all physical keys works but the sensor buttons and the Touch display is completely unresponsive/unusable.
I' ve tried different update tools (flashtool, wotan, install from CWM) and different roms:
FXP052-update-cm-7.2.0-RC0-XperiaMiniPro-SK17i-KANG-signed.7z
SK17i_4.0.2.A.0.58_(1249-7380).ftf
SK17i_4.0.2.A.0.58_GLOBAL.ftf
SK17i_4.0.A.2.335_FRENCH.ftf
also tried to update the kernel from [KERNEL] KRsH Kernel v2.0 (MiniPro)
It always results in a nearly working phone with no response from the touchscreen.
Would be very appreciative for any help!
Thanks,
Bernhard
Bought my wife a mini pro which was a SK17i
It came today and worked for about 20 minutes while I put all her stuff on it.
Then all of a sudden the touch screen and capacitive buttons stopped responding.
I had a similar issue on my x10 mini pro which related to the homebrew dual touch driver. Stock restore from SEUS fixed that.
Tried that on the xperia mini pro but it didnt help.
I've sent the phone back as faulty now.
Would be interested in hearing if the problems here are software or hardware.
Cheers
Hi guys, I have the same problem like everybody else - the touch screen doesn't work niether the capacitive buttons.
It happened when I thought I caught a virus after downloading an aplication : THE SEARCH ICON
Probably this was really stupid thought, but then I decided to make a full factory reset. My phone was rooted and after the reset the super user icon was still in the aplications. Then after 2 minutes using the phone it crushed, so I decided to unroot and then to make another factory reset and I did it.
Then the home button didn't work and the phone crushed few more times.
So I used PC Companion and update to .62. The phone was Ok for a week then it's screen and the capacitive buttons were useless.
I did 6-7 repairs from Pc Companion but still nothing.
Then I use Flashtool to flash it to SK17i_4.0.2.A.0.58_GLOBAL.ftf and again nothing. Then I flash it to SK17i_4.0.2.A.0.42_Generic_Trade_United_Kingdom_(1248-7407).ftf but still nothing. After that I updated again to .62 and no result.
IS THERE SOMEONE WHO CAN HELP PLEASE
Try Sony Ericsson Update Service to restore firmware completely.
I tried Sony Ericsson Update Service, too! Even with full factory reset and update to the latest firmware .62 and still the same problem! What should I do?
Someguyfromhell thanks you for your answer. I don't know why there are no posts for fixing this. Everybody asked for solution, but still none answer! I can't use my phone for a week now. It is really annoing . Please I really need help!
Sounds like the same problem I have. I was using hybrom + krsh kernel for months and was really satisfied with the phone. Then about a month ago the touchscreen went suddenly unresponsive for a 10 seconds or so. After that these lock ups started to became more frequent. I installed logcat and noticed it had something to do with touchscreen driver in kernel.
Next I tried bbooff's kernel but no avail. Then I used wotanserver to install stock kernel and rom, relocked bootloader, updated with pc companion, uninstalled all software I installed from market, did a 100% complete factory reset...
Then after using the phone for 5 minutes without lock ups I was really feeling victorious. I guess I forgot to knock wood because the touchscreen froze again. Now the phone is at the service center.
Either there is some really weird bug in these custom roms we all used or the hardware is bad. I never overcloked my phone more than 1,0 GHz -> 1,1 GHz so that can't be the reason.
I hope the service doesn't cost too much. I think I voided my warranty when I unlocked the bootloader and installed a custom kernel. The saddest thing is if it is a hardware problem caused by a bad hardware or a design fault I would still have to pay for it.
I understand, but it is really wierd, because I didn't use custom ROMs at all. I just made factory reset on a rooted phone (without unlocking the bootloader) after that I update to .62 from PC Companion and then I used the phone for a month and like yours the touchcsreen was dead for a little bit and the capacitive buttons, too. After that these lock ups started to became more frequent like yours. Do you thing that I will void my warranty, too and is there a solution for me?
Anyone with solution?

If not, may be the motherboard. I've got the same problem with mine, and I'm going to return it to store for a fix.
You may also want to try to plug it to the computer and open PC Companion and try the "repair" function. But backup everything you need first, I don't think everything get's deleted but be aware that it may happen.

Hi, I got a similar problem. Since a few weeks ago, flashed a ROM and when I've tried to use the phone, it keeps turning off randomly, sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes after hours. So, I tried to take it back to the clean original 2.3.3 ROM, but it keeps happening. ¿Any idea? ¿Any solution? Please, help me.

Didnt PCCompanion/seus fix it? And still persists?
Then it's time to get a new chipset.
Or a new device.

SE Xperia X10a refuses to boot no matter what

Okay, I was told to go here since people on AndroidForums.com had no clue on what to do.
Okay, here are my problems -
I received this Android from my mom and it was running Android 2.1. When I first got it, I turned it on without charging it. It booted up, came to the lockscreen, then about a second later turned off and now refuses to boot. I have tried flashing it with generic Android 2.1 and Stock ATT Android 2.1. But it refuses to do nothing but flashes a green light and vibrates. But that all it does. And PC Companion, SEUS, FlashTool have done nothing! So what do I do now? It accepts Flashes and restores, but it's like the Boot Files are corrupted. And I cannot JTAG, so is there any other options?
Thanks in Advanced,
NetworkLabs

I had quite the similar issue with my x10i. One day it just decided to stop working completely. No lights no nothing, tried everything, just dead. So I contacted SE and they said they could do nothing if the software had been tampered with, no matter how much I assured them if was a hardware related fault.. So I went to my carrier and they sent me to a phone repairing company (Fonemenders here in Ireland), who try fix the phone themselves by getting parts in from the manufacturers. If they deem your phone irreparable they will get you a new replacement. This is exactly what happened me. So the other day I received an email saying that seeing as my x10 couldn't be fixed, I'd be receiving a Sony Arc as a replacement! So i'm happily waiting for the Arc to get here while I use my moms old x8.
So my best advice if nothing is working, go to your carrier and hopefully they can get you through to a phone repairing place, and I wish you as good luck as my own
Well, I cannot replace the Phone since I am not really using it as a Phone. It will not be activated, it's just to mess around with. And I really don't want to buy a Samsung Galaxy Player just so I don't have to deal with this. So I'm going to try the Stock ROM now and see if it works. Do I have to wait for boot up or something?
Try to flash with SE Companion. It will work.
Well, I restored using SEUS because it's the only one that recognized the phone, other than FlashTool. After it restored, it said Unplug the phone and wait for first time. It will take a while. So I am currently doing that. Hope it turns on!
Well, I've restored it and it still sits here. What's next?
I am going to try to flash it using s1tool and see if that helps. Also, can someone please respond with what they think is wrong?
Okay, here's another question - In order to load the firmware you told me, does my Bootloader have to be UNLOCKED? If so, how do I do that without ROOT... Because I cannot do anything with the Phone.

I have a question for you... is the phone rooted ? If not then try following
1) start your PC companion and select update software
2) if software say, your phone is up to date then use here will be repair option you need to select it.
3) once you select repair it will download stock GB 2.3.3 and after download it will ask you to plug you phone in flash mode
4) remove phones battery and connect the phone to your laptop.
5) now place the battery back while holding down the back button (3rd button from left) { this step is important as this will get your phone into flash mode.
6) above steps should get your phone back onto stock unrooted ROM...
if you want then use flash tool to root it again but be careful with kernels and bootloader
Set from my Transforer TF101 using xda app-developers app
Well, I think I have tried that and it still won't boot. But I will try again. (PS - Sorry for this old thread, but I just needed a break on working on it! I am going to try again and see if it works!)

My Acro S won't turn on

My Acro S is running a stock 6.1.A.2.45 with CWM, rooted an bootloader unlocked, it has been working fine with this firmware for almost 2 weeks, today out of nowhere i switch the phone off for a reboot and it refuses to come on, it can go into fastboot and and flashboot however it does not power on, it's been plugged in the charger for almost an hour but it dosen't show any sign of life, no led blinking no Sony logo, nothing and when i try to force reboot by holding up and power off it just gives a little vibration and nothing happens, please help! sending back to the service center is not an option as in my country Sony service is crap as it's done through a third party company that hire retards exclusively, not to mention that they will rip me off as i got my phone from another country.

Nothing mate, no led, no log, no nothing as i said it just vibrate when i force reboot and can go into flash/fastboot mode, anyway the battery was almost dead when i turned it off to reboot and now i am not sure if it's charging to begin with hence why i am too scared to flash it and risk permanent bricking, do you think i should leave it for a while on the charger first?
Also would it be too much if i ask for a link to the stock rom as the one i had is not on this pc anymore?
Yeah you should leave it for charging for an hour or two.
I'm not too sure about the link. Browse through the dev section you'll find one

Okay thanks,
Regarding the ftf i don't think that it has been posted before, the one on my phone is russian and i don't recall where i got it from, i found another that's Malaysian however i really need the international version this time, do you think i should start a thread requesting it?
Okay i fixed it however the flashing didn't work and until now for the life of me i am trying to figure out what happened, anyway here is what happened and how i got it back working, maybe it will help someone in the future.
1.The first 2 flashing attempts failed without any explanation in the log, i then tried to re-install the flashtools drivers and went for a 3rd attempt, this one did not fail although it did not succeed either it remained stuck on retrieving device information.
2.I went to Sony software update standalone software, it requested from me to put the device into flash mode, i did but then it refused to update as my device had modified software, then i went to the pc companion and made an attempt to fix the device but of course i got the infamous server busy error.
3.My last hope was to go into fastboot mode and attempt to flash back the stock kernel.sin, that did the trick, the phone went back up and as i suspected it wasn't charging during the incident as the battery was down to 1% and it turned off as soon as it went on, it's now turned on and charging without any issues however i am really curious to find out what happened, i will charge the phone back to 100% then i will flash back the previous kernel that caused the issue,
For reference both kernels are found in this thread:

It happened now again after i tried to boot into recovery using the xparts app, i had to reflash the kernel to unstuck it and this time i flashed the old kernel that had CWM, the one that initially got stuck and everything is back to normal, but i am really curious to know what's wrong.
Did you ever find out what was wrong with it? My phone won't charge no matter what I do to it. Kernels, stock ftfs, all custom roms I could find. I'm thinking about replacing the battery cause I can't keep the phone on for more than a few seconds....

Unresponsive screen, dead PC connection, more.

Hello people, I really hope you can help me out on this one. I own the Sony Xperia U, which I had succesfully bootloader unlocked and rooted months ago. It had been runing ICS smoothly and everything was working great, until two days ago, when the screen started ocasionally missing/ignoring taps/sweeps. It was a real pain to type since it would miss a letter or more in every word I typed. I decided to do a factory reset, and so did I. The problem was not fixed. Now, I'm dealing with more: My computer does absolutely nothing when I connect the XU, and the phone itself only recognizes a charger. The same in debugging mode. Superuser does not work (can't get root access despite it says it has granted the rights), I can't even uninstall Superuser. What are my options? Can I somehow flash some things and do a full reset of the phone? I have CWM Recovery installed!
Thanks in advance!
PS: The main ambition is to get rid of everything but the screen problem. I'll probably replace the digitizer after that.
Anyone? Sorry for second post!

Well, I would recommend to flash stock again to remove root and relocking the bootloader and if the problem gets solved, root it again.
