I am unable to install apps from my sd card even though I have Install from Unknown Sources checked under Security Settings. I have attached a screen shot where I have a PowerAmp Unlocker which I brought from their website instead of the Play Store. I am unable to Install it. When I try to press Install nothing happens. But if I tap on Cancel it exits out. Any suggestions as to how to solve this problem?

I cant do that. I am switching from a Galaxy R I bought it a good while back. I did a factory reset, after that. It worked. But after that I tried again with a different app same issue. I think something is getting installer either through the updates or something else thats causing it not to work again.

This seems to be a jellybean bug, my s3 and my N7 suffer from it occasionally.
Keep trying is all I can say, it will work eventually, keep tapping install, or try to long press home to switch to another screen and back.
Or press cancel and start over.

I figured out the problem. It was Screen Adjuster that disabled my Install button. So if you have Screen Adjuster installed. Disable it by going into Settings> Manage Applications > All > Screen Adjuster. Then install whatever app you want to install. Then re enable it. It works.

Does this happen and how?
After I installed the official grupon app from the market I have been getting notifications every time the phone is powered up from being completely shut off for ads. It's weird as hell. Uninstalled the app but the ads keep coming. It's not a huge deal but it is annoying. I'm sure a full wipe would fix it. but I would like to avoid that if possible.
anyone else expedience anything similar, and if so how do you fix this?

Are you using go launcher?
I got my first one of those tonight. I have flashed my phone maybe 10 times but this is the first time it appeared. I flashed the latest KH7 version of Unnamed.
I would like to know how this happens, too.

Yes I am... Is that a problem with the newest release?
This has happened to me as well. I did a full wipe and it went away. These is probably some file that has been kept inside the phone to allow ads. If so, then its probably stored in a "residue" folder as I call them. Which is kind of like traces of an app. If there is none then a wipe will be necessary. Have you tried rebooting the phone? Or clearing the cache?

I'll clear cache now and see if its persists.
EDIT:
Ok just cleared my cache, wiped dalvik, battery stats and am repairing permissions in the recovery now. I'll let you all know what happens.
I have never had one of these notifications until tonight as well. I received it right after I had installed go launcher. First time using the launcher so that was my "calculated" guess. I rebooted after seeing it and it has not happened since.
Edit: are the three other posters in this topic using go launcher?
There are apps on the market that will tell you what it is....just search for Push notification something will come up..... illegal downloader apps are usually the culprit ...and its definitely not GO launcher they are on of the best group of Devs without question.....I have been using Go for 2 years pretty much exclusively and NEVER had a problem.

Have you uninstalled any apps you suspected? If so reinstall and launch it, and then run the Airpush app or whatever one you have. After it scans try uninstalling the app through the system settings....manage applications>clear cache then clear data and then uninstall. Thats how I cured my wife's phone when she was downloading music from MP3 Music downloader.
If that don't work you have a real good reason to reflash

Wow. Surprised no educated member decided to help. These are push-ads. They're generally caused by shadier developers of apps on the market. If you install an ad blocker from the market, and one for push-ads you wouldn't get these.
A better solution is to read what you download first, so you KNOW if the dev uses push-ads so you can avoid those apps to begin with.

Ok to begin I take no credit on any development of any kind with this app. Just saw this in the portal and read the thread and got it to work. Just simplified the installing instruction since it was Kind of confusing at first, and I added the app to another file host to download from since I couldnt download it from Mediafire, keep in mind the is about 29MB.
Read the instructions first please before posting anything please. I am usaing this on the latest CM9 Nightly release and do not know in what other roms it will work on.

I am not sure if this worked but I got it fixed only in odin mode.

I have tried a few driving apps but I think what I really need, given the space on the Note II, is to just make my own driving interface out of widgets. If such a thing is possible. Unfortunately I am not finding what I need and I was wondering if anyone here knows of any matches
I am looking for a maps, or even better, a navigation widget. IE something I can place on the screen as a widget 4x4 or something like that that is showing the navigation app. using widgets which I can resize and place myself. I am essentially looking to make my own dash screen. But the key component is a widget version of maps and/or navigation.
If you change the dp in system with xposed, you can have floating windows. Then you can have navigation floating over all of your screens, and close it when finished. I know that this isn't what you are asking, just a suggestion.

It is not the perfect solution, but it works. Sometimes you havecto back out ofcit instead of closing it. Other than that, it is awesome.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
Can you be a little more specific? Can not seem to reproduce that in xposed.
Sure thing. First install xposed, then install app settings. Enable app settings, then reboot. Gointo app settings, and click android. When the screen pops up, click on dp. Change the dp to 600x1024. Reboot, and you should have floating windows.
These are the setings I use. The only problem that I have had from changing this is my lockscreen rotates, and only shows 3 shortcuts on the lockscreen.

Strange. I already have Xposed installed as I run Jelly "Beans" and use the custom DPI on a few apps. But when I make those changes to Android System I don't see any change to the apps I open such as maps. No biggy, just curious why it doesn't work.

I couldn't seem to get it to work...
Maybe because I'm using the device?
Working here!
Sent from my Evo LTE
Here too.
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
I'm only seeing it available for my Nexus 7 and my Sammy Epic Touch
Nothing for my EVOLTE or HTC One
I have it on my EVO LTE. Look under Google Settings. I'm using a CM 10.1 ROM

Here's what I get.
Gonna try a different ROM.
Edit: OK I've tried this with GPS on/off, mobile data on/off, 3G/4G, different WiFi locations, and also clean flash of current ROM.
I'm downloading another ROM now to see if that changes anything... If not I guess its my device or something else I'm not seeing.
For what its worth, I am experiencing the same issue as you are. I am currently on slimRom 8.0.

make sure your location settings are all checked
Hmmm, I've got it. I'm on old release of dirty unicorn. I just can't decide if I wanna activate it, it sounds kinda spooky lol . I mean, wouldn't this make it easier for someone else to wipe my device remotely, or set a pin lock I don't know?
What's funny is when I just opened XDA app, on top of the front page was a thread about android device manager, didn't read it.

I got it to work. I had everything checked in Google location setting but it wasn't working still, so I just toggled the Google location service off and than turned it on and I guess that did the trick.

So, is no one else a little leery of the possible applications for this? I mean, what do you guys think the benefits of this are?

Well if you lose your phone, just login with your Google account and locate or wipe your phone. At least that is why i am signing up for this.

Who's gonna be guinea pig and push the wipe button to see what the procedure is? LOL I'd do it but I'm lazy and dont feel like backing up then wiping then reloading it all back up. Yep just lazy.
Android Central did a video on this using Nexus 7

Cool thanks. Solved my curiosity. Though like he said in video, how does it work with custom recovery...same way I'd assume.
