Battery won't charge - HTC Rezound

After using the extended battery for a couple months, I went back to using the standard battery. The problem is it won't charge. I thought the problem was the battery but I just bought another battery and it has the same issue. Anybody have this issue? Is this 2 defective batteries or something else?
I'm running Ineffabilus Deus(1.2) and Snuzzo's Kernel 1.2

Hi, you test to wipe batterystatus. When that don't help flash your rom new or an other cm version.

Not quite sure I understand. Where do I do this? Recovery? Do i have to do this every time i switch batteries?

You have a cwm recovety or root rights? Then go in cwm, advanced and then wipe. No cwm but root then look in playstore. There is an app. Search for battery or something like this. When its don't help look here how to flash a new rom for your handy.

I have amon. I did wipe battery stats, no go. Does it matter which battery I wipe with. My standard battery is too low too boot i think.

You have something like fastcharge on? Yes, then make off.

does the extended still charge?

to behonest it just sounds like you took your oem battery out of yuor phone dead, and being its beeen sso long its prolly REALLY dead let it sit on the charger for about an hour before you try to power it on, tryinhg to power it on early will kill the battery you want at least a ten% charge before you try and boot your phone..

I bought a new battery off ebay(thinking the battery was shot). And it is not dead. It shows about 40% left, but i was fooling around with it and it wouldn't charge. There is a blinking charge and green light. and yes the extended charges.

theres gotta be something wrong with the batteries then. its obviously not your phone since your extended charges. very possible the one you bought off ebay is also shot in the same way your original one is.

Battery is messed up- Help please.

Right i seriously need help now guys.
My battery is completely and utterly- f*cked.
It says it is charging but it doesnt charge- the number changes but it goes for 80% then drop to 70% etc so i can never get a full charge.
I thought i fixed it last night when i drained it and recharged it back to as high as i could get it (94%), unlocked it this morning and it went from 70% when i locked it last night to 50%- and thats not the worst part- i sent 3 texts and it went to 15% battery, yes, 15%.
I am appaled at it and its well and truly put me off buying another Android phone or Samsung phone.
I need help now, if you guys cant fix it for me, my warranty is over from Carphone Warehouse and i cant be arsed with it.
I cant afford to simply go and buy a new phone so please dont say that kind of dumb suggestion.
Thank you.
Also i want to know if the problem is my phone, the battery itself or the charger/usb cable.

Well, alittle phone info might help.
What phone is it?
How old is it?
If you do have warranty, I would suggest using it.
If you're rooted, try calibrating the battery, Either wipe the battery stats manually in CWM or just use this handy app from the market:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration&feature=search_result
be sure to follow instructions precisely.
Check to make sure that all your apps that have updates where it can notify you are set to update in intervals of.every 1-2 hours. If you have several games on the phone that have a simulation theme to it like paradise island there are constant clocks that will run in the background regardless if you use a task killer. That I'm only like 90% sure but of. If you think about It things kinda evolve in the game each little item takes a form of clock in the code..which drains battery. The more.games you have the more constant clocks that will run. If you have several social networking apps I.e Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Google+ etc or any other app that can post to one another social i.e Twitter will also post one Facebook at the same time. One post Will run both apps if one is always set to update like every 30 minutes both with run in the background. If any app that you log in with logs in with a.Facebook account then once you open that up and your signed in then the internet app will be active.because.its accessing.the internet to log in. So in the end check to see what the intervals are when apps refresh for notifications. Try setting your peek times and off peek times for updates, and uninstall Any apps that you haven't gone to for over a 4 days. The chances.are you rarely use them. Hopefully this helps. One last thing is that some batteries if it only takes 4 hrs to fully charge the battery stops charging and uses its own power regardless if its plugged in. Ie you plug the phone in when you go to bed at 10pm the phone takes 4hra so at 2am the battery no longer runs off the charger it runs from the battery itself. Then when you wake up it may aleady be at 80%.
I'd any of this helps let me know. Gold luck.

So what your saying is when everyone that unplugs their phones in the morning and it says 100%, it actually means 80% or something other than what it reads? May I have some of what your having? That's crazy talk right there.

I never said everyone i said some.batteries and there's not many. If the meter says 100% then its at 100%. But my brother im not sure what phone he has but.when he unplugged his phone its at 94% and that when I said the battery will stop charging after its fully charges is what a Verizon store told him.

Thanks man, i will try your suggestions, it seems to off fixed itself- it drained itself twice over the past few days so ive just left it charging in my USB port and its got to 100% with the notification please remove charger, so yeah i think its fine now!
Will keep you all updated thanks.

Does clockworkmod v4 automatically get uninstalled when you flash a new rom as i flashed my device back to stock 2.2 so is CWM gone now?

You need to redownload the Rom manager and do a new flash recovery. Other than that i think your battery might be just old. Batteries do have a limit to to how many times they can be recharged. That's why on new battery packages they say 1000 charges or something like that meaning after 1000 charges the battery will begin to increasingly die quicker. Sorry for the wording I'm not sure how to to word that. Youll probably be better off buying a new battery.

I cant do a new flash recovery as my phone isnt on the Clockworkmod Rom Manager list- i had to install it via ODIN, its alot of hassle.
Ive had this phone barely 6 months- it got replaced last time it got repaired, i find it hard to believe the battery is gone already :S

if you had your phone replaced you may have received a refurbished phone. Most businesses do that if your not there to pick a new one up.
I can try as a favor. Exactly what brand of phone do you have and version. I.E HTC Hero. if its a device that is on multiple carriers which carrier. I might have a battery laying around. If i have one they are in good shape I keep tons from friends who give me there old phones I use the phones for robotics but not the batteries So if you let me know what you have and if i have it i can mail the battery to you for free. I know how it feels when someone is in this case im more then will to help. its up to you.
That would be fantastic.

Ooo. Galaxy I haven't gotten one of those. But if you look on the battery its should have information like 2600mAh Li-Polymer Rechargeable Battery. 3.7V 9.6Wh.
And on the bitten it will say "for use with Sprint smart devise EVO 4g by HTC Sony cells." That's for my phone yours will be different but similar. With that info i can try and find a battery that is compatible. If i don't I have a friend where i live that is the co owner soft this battery surplus store. They have every kind if battery imaginable. I can get one there and send it to you. Its not a problem because phones are a requirment and your in a sitiuation that I have no problem helping out with. Let me know what the battery info is and ill see what i can do

The only way to know that answer is to rule out possibilities. Try different batteries and chargers.

I just bought another battery. I found it was the battery more than port problems or anything like that. My friend and I have the same phones, same roms. We tested this by first going through 3 power cycles. After we charged it, we had only the same apps working, except for some minor checking of FB and twitter (I don't use twitter, but he does).
After our 4th power cycle, it seemed like his phone was dying faster w/ my battery in it. His battery in my phone lasted about 5-10 hours more, I did my normal daily activities on it, even played some youtube videos in class.
So I bought a new one, and bam, stays alive more than 12 hours

Common sense post of the day:
You have to be really careful getting phone accessories off e-bay. In the past I've been duped into buying a fake SD card and a wonky battery.

flashing ROM without battery

is it possible to flash this phone (Atrix 4g) without a battery and only the wall charger connected? i've did some search and couldn't find anything specific on this phone but it seem like its not possible to do so on android. maybe i'm wrong cuz today i was having some freezing problems and i did a battery pull but before i reinsert the battery out of curiosity i connected the wall charger and booted into recovery. of course i didn't do a wipe and flash to test it out myself since i don't have the time for all of that but i got into recovery without the battery. is that normal and does that mean you can flash a rom without a battery?
I think so... but be warned that any energy fail will lead to a possible brick of ur atrix

good to know it works. thats great. now no more worrying about battery when flashing a ROM (sometimes i'm just too impatient to wait till my battery charge to flash a new ROM. we all know that little feeling we get when a new ROM comes out)
now i can just leave my charged plugged in with the battery.. if battery fails the wall charger should continue.. all my electronics are connect to a backup battery so i don't think i ever have to worry about the wall charger losing power. those battery go for 2 - 3 hours
I don‘t think so!don’t do this

[Q] Reset battery statistics?

My YP-GI1CB (US Player 4.2) has a terrible battery problem..
It all started when a USB cable problem caused a charging issue. My battery heated up to well over safe temperatures, and afterwards everything seemed fine until it became very clear something was wrong. Now, my battery will only last me 4-5 hours on most days. This is a HUGE inconvenience and I need help.
Is it possible to reset battery statistics on the device, or will I have to buy a replacement battery?
Thanks in advance, 64kb.

[Q] Battery or Phone problem? Please help

Hi, i have a problem for about a month . I changed my rom,my kernel, even put a stock kernel and a stock rom on my phone and i still have the problem.
I get my battery depleated in less than 1 hour if i play something and i get a almost 5-6 hours a day if i use my phone just to make some phone calls ( data , wifi ,gps , autosync etc. all off )
I sow something really strage about the phone.
At 1% it closes itself but if i reopen the phone it will stay almost 2 hours with that 1 percent battery..
And when i try to charget it from usb ,i get the graphic from the image..
If i do it with the original Charger, i jumps even faster.
It charges for almost 70% and then in minutes... jumps all the way to 100%
I really don't know if the battery is the problem or the phone. I don't know what to think anymore.
Please help

Yeah, i have the original battery that came with the phone.
The phone has an year and a half.
My battery stats looked very similar to your. I bought a new battery and now I'm getting over 20 hours off charge and 3-3.5 hours screen on time with 1836 MHz overclock, wi-fi and mobile data always on, auto sync and auto brightness on
So I would guess your battery is growing old

Bought a new battery... When i set it up in my phone and try to boot up the phone, nothing. Completely dead.
When i put it to the charger,it works for arount 1 minute ( red led on ,not blinking ) then it shuts down, and again the phone is completely dead.
If i try to start it while the red led is open,it will shut down, start again, then closes and thats it... dead again.
What's wrong? Was the battery too empty?
The battery has 3.8 V and it doesn't seem to charge at all
The old one has 3.7 and the phone still boots up

How long did you leave it on charger?
About one hour. But it only "charges" for around 1-2 min. Then the led closes and absolutely nothing happens. I checked the battery voltage and it's tha same.
Checked the cable, the phone output ( 4v ), I cleaned the microusb with alcohol...
It doesn't have logic...why is it doing this.
The battery is an original one,and from what I mesured,it's not dead.

Well, good news. I sent the battery back to the shop last week, and they called me today.
They said the battery was in a short circuit on some of the pins. He had the battery tested on their testers, and found out the problem.
Even the battery had enaugh voltage to start the phone or charge, because the short,it wouldn't charge beacause the devices ( phone , external charger ) will go in a protection state ( safe mode... )
And they sent me a new battery. It will get to my place next week.... so till then,i shall wait.
So,if you put a new battery in the phone, and it shows the red led for about 1 min,and then it turns off,and the phone doesn't charge the battery at all,and it doesn't turn on,even if the battery has enough voltage ( juice ) in it , you might face the same problem i did.
I had this underlined for anyone who is facing the same problem.
I didn't find anything like this anywhere on xda or other websites ,so i hope it will come in handy :good:
