I've just bought tTorrent Pro, and the download speeds are horrendous, no more than 150kb/s maximum. Any other torrent downloader gives me speeds of up to 750kb/s. What's the deal? Thanks!

A few times I've seen this it was because one app worked fine on the persons WiFi with default router settings but another app would use some slightly different settings that required tweaking the router configuration.
Don't know that you're even using WiFi but thought I would throw it out there in case it spurs an idea in the right direction.

I'm running the 5/29 Imnuts PBJT kernel with comm rom 1.3.
I use an app called tubemate to download YouTube videos.
Lately, I've noticed that if my screen goes off, the phone will throttle back the speed my my download to almost nothing. When I unlock it, it speeds up vastly.
So unless I want to wait for an hour for a 20 Meg download, I have to keep it awake.
Same holds true for ttorrent downloads...
Can anyone explain to me why that happens. Is it normal behavior....is something not set up right....is there a way to give a process higher priority when the screen is off for downloads.....what's the deal? It's really annoying.

Have you changed any clock speed settings? Maybe your cpu is slowing down when the screen is off?

I rooted my phone recently to use wifi tethering with my new transformer. Haven't had much luck finding a stable tethering app. One I tried was open garden but it isn't very stable. What's the best one?

I use Wireless Tether stable release
Just google search "wireless tether"
First result, go to the downloads tab
use bluetooth tether
just pair the droid 2 to your transformer and use the bluetooth tether option in the Asus transformer.
it's faster and uses sooo much less battery then than wifi tether and u dont need to root!!
i do it all the time works like a charm
Whoa really? Ill try it out sounds cool

I downloaded wireless tether and it does seem to work very well. Maybe its because I'm running it on CM7

I'm using Barnacle, free from the market. You can rename your network and secure it. It runs ad-hoc. I get 11mbps consistantly.

11mbps? What is your zipcode? You are on verizons 3G network?

And yes, Verizon 3g.

I'm not permitted to post the link, but I have been using Wifi Tether for Root Users v3.1beta2 and it seems to be working better than ever. Make sure you select DroidX as your device profile.

It's not, I just speedtested it, I feel stupid now for going over the mouseover link in the systray. Sorry for misleading. It's actually 1mbps and .56mpbs upload. Still, faster than my sprint 4g aircard that work has me using.
Ok great I can finally go to sleep!

Thanks, man! FINALLY got a wireless tether app to work on my D2 with Gingerbread 2.3.3. I tried a bunch of others and none of them actually connected out to the internet.
Like derezzer says, select DroidX as your device profile. In addition, i also selected Change Setup-Method to Hostapd (master). So far, so good.
Pdanet works for wired tether. Wifi does not. If u are looking for a tether that works for, lets say, tablets or gaming systems, and not a computer, i haven't found one that works. If its just for a pc, use with tether for root users

Laptop has a lot of processing speed than a mobile phone, even though you have a fast internet connection, both machines are different in terms of processing speed.

What does your network icon show? It's located at the top right, next to your signal bars. Is it 4g or E?

Its 4g but I can't even load a YouTube video on HQ and on regular quality it HAS to buffer the whole video before playing it. So in a nutshell I can't stream video properly. Websites like Google and yahoo all work pretty snappy its just that streaming issue that's killing me lol

You might be getting throttled straight talk is random first I would take out your battery and your sim card for about 30 seconds then put em back in and turn it on. I f that doesnt work call their customer service and let them know your service is running slow and follow their instructions. I've had this happen a few times and these two steps worked for me when I call them I take out the battery and the sim card as well just because not sure it if helps.
also use the speed test app to see if there is any difference in your speed before and after you follow these steps hope it helps.

Its not throttling, I have the same issue, I think its AT&T servers. I have the same service but on TMobile SIM and I switch SIM cards and on TMobile I get faster server and uninterrupted service. I think problem is mainly with ping times. My 3MB/sec AT&T service is wayyy slower than the 5MB/sec TMobile service (both on Straighttalk SIMs on the same GNote i717.
(P.S. I thought I need to Root to get 4G with TMobile sim but it works without root. Strange?!
