I just bought a Lumia 800. The first thing I did after the startup wizard was going to settings> Wifi and I turned Wifi on. However, after 30 minutes of searching, the phone just won't find anything. The sim cardis not installed yet, as my old SIM is too big. Does anyone have an idea why Wifi won'twork?
Here is myphones info:
Windows Phone 7.5
Operating system 7.10.8107.79
Revision Firmware± 1600.2487.8107.12070
Revision Hardware: 112.1402.2.3
SoftwareRadio: 8255
Bootloader version: 7.35.0.0
Chip-SOC-version: 0.74.2.1
Whether you have a SIM inserted should not make any difference. Have you verified networks are indeed available?
The specs you provided show the phone is both using an older firmware and OS version and the hardware revision is that of an earlier model. Did you buy this model new? if so I'd definitely return it as this phone as been updated at least once previously and the hardware revision is that of the first batch that shipped last year November. You might also call Nokia Care (through 'Contact us') to have the device IMEI checked for warranty (you can also do this yourself on the support page, but Nokia Care will be able to provide you with more information.
In any case try a system reset (Settings>About>reset your phone) but it feel to me like this is at least a refurbished device.
I bought it second hand, the phone was bought in January of this year. While I was at the sellers house, WiFi worked perfectly, but since he did a system reset (his old data was still on it) I haven't been able to connect at home. I also updated the device to the latest software, but to no avail.
Also, when I turn on WiFi and go back out of the WiFi menu, WiFi is automatically disabled again.

My XDA
ROM ver 3.14.17 ENG
ROM date 10/11/02
Radio version 4.16
Protocol version 32S54
My problems are:
1.weak signal
2.phone hangs and wont automatically reconnect to network until I switch it off and back on.
Is that only my bad lack or others have similar problems?
Is there a possibility of improving this by change of settings or...?
Any comments appreciated :?:
MY XDA Freezes and Drops Calls
Hello, I am in Ireland. My Phone Hangs and Drops every now and then. It Releases itself after about 5 minutes. Sometimes I answer a call and it drops the line at this stage. I went into an o2 shop to ask them about this but they suggested that there is no other customers with this problem.
the same problem with ROM 3.15.15 ENG / Radio 4.16.00
I have the same hang up problem. I bought mine in Australia as well but use it all around the world, for that matter i have never used it in Australia but i have the hang up problem sometimes. Never the weak signal though. Maybe i am just lucky.
Exactly the same problem with xda bought in HK and used in Russia. And as i note this problem occurs while other mobile phone near xda shows "good" signal level. So I have to restart phone each hour
3.15.15 ENG / 4.16.00
I'm ready to write program which will switch phone module off and on hourly

Same problem in SG. 3.14.17ENG with 4.16 Radio stack. Took my XDA to the service center and they upgraded the radio stack to 4.17... Seems like improved so far but not sure if this is a complete resolution yet. Have not seen this radio stack released on the internet yet.
I have the same problem - I seem to be getting a good signal, and all of a sudden the audio just clicks off totally, while the connection time is still ticking over. I've installed the new official patches which seemed to slightly improve things, but the problem still occurs. It'd be nice if someone could resolve this, I've got no idea.
Hi all,
Have the same problem here in Saudi Arabia if the signal gets week at some spot it will not come back only after a reset..
Hello folks,
I have a QTEK 1010 bought from Dubai in October 2003.
Model PW10A1
ROM version 3.16.52 ENG
ROM Date 03/10/03
Radio version 3.19.01
Protocol version 32S54
The device works well but periodically goes off (PDA and cell phone) and pressing the power button at this point soft resets it. I have tried removing add on software (D9 dialer and SMS name utility), soft resetting and hard resetting.
A hard reset seemed to solve the problem - until I synched with Outlook again - but then maybe I did not wait long enough since even after synching and software being loaded, it does fine for hours at a stretch. It is my impression that an incoming or missed call causes it to do that but since it happens inconsistently, I cannot tell.
My questions: -
Is this more likely to be solved by a ROM upgrade or a Radio upgrade? Or is this likely to be a hardware issue? A friend and I bought two devices together but his ROM and radio versions are higher numbers. He does not have this problem but then his cellular provider is different.

Nothing here on o2 UK yet. Mind you, I only just got the last update
Checked via Zune about an hour ago, and nothing. On giffgaff, but handset came straight from Nokia in Helsinki.
well, the german site mentioned it will be distributed gradually in the next two weeks.
anyway, the update mentiones audio improvements... well, in the first phonecall after the update i experience an increased lowest volume level, which i hate, and more background noise in the call, but that may be due to the windy conditions at the moment

Update installed. My Lumia is an T-mobile (german) edition. Updating from Norway, no problems!
Disappointed that it wasn't any MMS-settings in this update =/
mms settings? were in settings > mobile > apn ... earlier, not anymore?
I'm on Orange UK and just go the update this evening.
Got it on an open market phone in Germany, carrier is Vodafone.de.

Unfortuantely it does not fix the low light central red zone on the camera. But general color accuracy on capture does seem improved.
No update here in uk. Sim free on lyca mobile
I just go the update on 3 UK.
Anyone else from UK still not getting the update. This update stuff makes me really anxious. I think I'm gonna miss university tomorrow
Still nothing for me. I'm on o2 UK but bought the phone SIM free from the Carphone Warehouse so I don't know if that has something to do with the delay, but I only just got the 7740 update last week.
I have the update t-mobile UK.
For anyone that does not have it have you tried the dissconecting the network trick that was widely used to get Mango? ie go to check for update on zune and after 2 seconds dissconect the internet. May work as it looks like they useing the same que system.
No, the trick isn't helping for me.
Yup T-mobile uk update here also ;-)
Got the update last night when plugged the phone in to Windows Phone Connector for mac.

I warrantied out an HTC Radar with the help of the customer service guy at my T-Mobile store. I have an issue now that I didn't have with my old Radar and my friend on the same family plan I'm on has their first Radar and doesn't have this issue.
My old Radar would share the internet without a problem. My friend's Radar shares the internet without a problem. The only difference is the phone, my plan options are exactly the same, however my phone fails to share the internet. I updated my old one before I swapped it out, and the new one was received apparently fully up to date because it isn't updating. Anyone know of this issue?
Another difference between my old Radar, my friend's Radar, and my New Radar is that my new one has two options for mms attachments, video or picture and voice note. Do I have an odd version of the phone? A wonky version of the OS? I want my internet sharing back for free just like my friend has and I used to have. Is this possible? Has anyone even seen this problem/difference?

and as for the tethering, your friend shouldn't be able to tether unless his plans states he can or he is sharing to a mobile device.
I have a Lumia on WP8.1 that is randomly shutting down or rebooting...
This is a AT&T Red 920
OS version 8.10.12393.890
Firmware revision number: 3051.50009.1425.2001
HW revision number: 6.0.0.0
Radio Software revision: 1.0.202184.3
Chip SOC version: 8960
Seems if I have it charging it reboots even more often, and happens when I'm talking, or other wise using the phone.. It has gotten much worse within the last week or so.... The phone isn't hot when this happens, which I thought was strange as I know heat can cause this issue. I've read that the radio revision caused this issue, but that was with a earlier version of the software... Any help appreciated..
Jason
i have same radio software on my L920 as you and hardware revision 6.5.0.4 (EU version, not US)... my Lumia 920 never rebooted or freeze in almost two years...
sometimes problems about heating and rebooting is because bad hardware.. Try to take phone in Nokia phone service to test and diagnose hardware... maybe your phone have hardware problem (malfunction)
Hey everyone!
I bought a new S6 Edge from Amazon. Upon receiving the phone, I've noticed that it seems to have been made for the UAE.
Model: SM-G925F
Andriod: 5.0.2
BB Ver.: G925FXXU1AOC1
Kernel: 3.10.61-4260274
BUILD: LRX22G.G925FXXU1AOC
I currently live in Canada, and use Freedom mobile (AWS - B4 1700/2100) and this phone is not picking up service.
I'd like to know, is it possible to configure the modem to accept this frequency band? In the past I hacked the Qualcomm modem in my GS4 to accept this band.
I am unsure if this is a software or hardware limitation for this model, as I have tried dozens of times to root (in hopes I can modify baseband) - and have soft bricked 6 times. I've also looked into changing the CSC with Odin, but every time I try to flash anything but stock ROM I get soft bricked again...
I've been working on this for about 5 hours now, with no luck. Anyone able to enlighten me if I'm wasting my time?
Thanks a million in advance.
Edit: Looks like it's going to be easier to switch to literally ANY other carrier. This model supports every other band except UMTS B4. Maybe I can jump back on Freedom/Wind once they release LTE in the fall.
