Not.to be argumentative but.... My son has the LG thrill and his clock is randomly changing times on him resulting in him being late for work on one occasion. I haven't been able to figure it out yet (though i really haven't spent that much time trying yet) and don't want to resort to flashing a different Rom on it. so i could see asking a question like that in the near future if i don't figure it out. ( obviously in the thrill forum)

If asked and answered, you gain knowledge. Not everyone on this site is at the same level. Easy for you may be hard for some other user. I have had my own"duh"moments. Ultra noob here. I got my phone on kijiji and it was already rooted and flashed to work with Wind Mobile(Canada). The phone is originally from Rogers.
Here is what I get from phone info
Model number - SGH-I717R
Android Version - 2.3.6
Baseband Version - T989DTLKJ3
Kernel Version - 2.6.35.11

I am not sure what exactly has been done. I would like to upgrade to ICS and still have it working with Wind Mobile. What do I do? Where do I begin?

Remix means it's themed and Stripped means most of the Sense elements are removed.

I for one offered to help you, just not in this section. Telling people to F... off doesn't help either, in fact it's worst. While people are tired of getting flamed for posting in the wrong section people are also tired of sorting through Q&A threads to find threads that actually have to do with development, that's what we have sections for. I for one try to be civil with these sort of things, and while it's primarily the job of the moderators to move and or close threads as community members we have to police ourselves as well. The rudeness on both sides should stop, but....people should post in the correct sections too
Edit: I see the mods moved the thread, all is well that ends well.

Did it occur to you that maybe if Revolutionary worked on HBOOT 1.5, that the thread concerning HBOOT 1.5 might actually say this? Is that not enough of an answer for you? Were you expected a tailor-made response from ARX? Guess what; the world doesn't revolve around you or that phone. When they figure it out, if they figure it out, you will know right away. If that's not enough, I can use the search function (something that someone who is not a "noob" should know about), and show you several more threads were there's the same question and the same answer.
It's not really anyone else's problem if you can't A) Read, B) accept that the answer is just "not yet" or C) use the search function. So calm down with the ego a bit, eh?
I don't think I've seen anyone stupid enough to admit they posted in the wrong area without even bothering to search, but still have the gall to mock someone else who's telling you otherwise. This is what's killing XDA. I'm not familiar with the development aspect of modems but just an observation--If the modem is developed for another device then, to me, common sense says it wasnt designed to be used on our phones which is why some things work and others dont. Maybe the signal is different in the US versus International, which is why the voice doesnt work. Who knows...but the bottom line is that we'll need to use the i777 modems.

Probably because the international model has CM9 and modems made for it. Not a bad idea, can't blame him for wanting it to work

I'd disagree. It encourages other people to report posts more and refrain from posting the same "why'd you post here" comments over and over.
If everyone decides to comment on it instead of reporting, it just takes that much longer for it to appear in the correct subforum. And of course, the inevitable flaming continues and the thread ultimately ends up closed.

Im trying to find why there is no sound and rest work. Im hopping that little tweeking will make it work and if if it does alot of of i777 users will be happy and main purpose of this site is that.

If we can get international modems to work then we wouldnt have capped speeds especially when it comes to upload.

just a guess but if a simple tweak would make it work, it would have been done long ago. So the fact that it still doesnt work, makes me believe that its not possible without major alterations to the int'l modems.
I have 2.3 version of phone bricker and I want to update to the 2.5 version, can I save it to my SD card and update through CWM without doing a wipe or losing any data? I've had some issues on 2.3 I figured a new flash or a full wipe would get rid of.

Update, just clear cache/dalvik for good measure.
But depending on your issues a full wipe may be the best bet mostly if you flashed my Rom coming from another Rom with no wipe.

That really only applies to the forums that have dedicated Q&A threads ie not this one. Forums like the Captivate and the inspire that is true for. Here you should always ask in the development thread before making a new thread

I have seen people with less than 10, I know its a rule but that the forum itself didn't let you.
Too lazy to search for them, not that I care cause I end up getting PMs instead.
I would rather they post so others can answer in case I am swamped.

Point is, if every person with a post count of less than 10 made a question thread we'd have a ton of new threads. Maybe if a dev made a q&a thread for their rom it would make for easier answering of questions for those with a smaller post count . It does suck if u have a question and you can't post in dev section, but at the same time, it pushes those people to contribute in other ways in other places. As well as search, which a lot of new members don't wanna do. They would rather just ask again even if their question has already been answered.

First off I'd like to say, I have done quite a bit of searching on this and either get caught up in endless pages of crap I don't fully understand or I just can't find the answer. My apologies if this issue is simple and out there.
With that said, I'm definitely a noob at all the rooting and ROMs for phones. I've spent 20 years using cell phones as.. well, phones! Had no idea the world that was waiting for me and the time consuming hours of research and trial and error.
So I got the Amaze and first off, wanted to root it so I used CWM which is currently running. I then get an update notification for ICS but every time I try to install it, I'm stuck at a green X logo.
Is there a way to install ICS with CWM already on my phone or do I need to remove it first? I have searched for both answers which is why I finally set up an account and created this thread.
Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated!

Hey thanks for your incredibly condescending reply! I see by your "thanks" meter you obviously have no idea how to provide value to others, especially newcomers.
use hasoons toolkit to flash the stock recovery back onto your phone, then if the boot loader is unlocked go and relock it. then after those 2 things are done, attempt to upgrade to ics.
after you upgrade to ics you can root and unlock it again.

The other person wasn't a Moderator. So yeah, I had to tell you. No worries though. Rush is my favorite. I've been drumming and following Neil Peart since the 80's. Great stuff man. Glad to meet a fellow Rush fan.
