Haven't tried it, but all tutorials on the internet about compiling android are for linux. Probably because android is a linux based operation system. I don't think it's possible to compile on windows
Install linux or use the live CD...
well I guess I'll have to install Ubuntu then
Thanks... and any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated..

Sorry, it's not quite as simple as that. First set up your Linux install, and all necessary tools (check the Android developers site), and then come back and ask where to begin!
any chance by making an htc sense ui custom rom for it?
Custom ROM
Can I also get the custom ROM for SG 551?
Thanks,

Hey,
I'm working on a Jelly Bean port, and i want to ask something:
Can i use ICS device files for my galaxy and include them into the JB Build.
Did i must change many things in that files or can i leave it at the most parts?
Thanks,
GlenniBoy
P.S.:Sorry for bad english, but i'm from Germany and only 12 years old soo....
Depending the files you replace or include. For example in all Android Roms decompiled data you have the app folder those apps you may interest that they are being updated the higher versions exist, or maybe some drivers from the official ICS Rom you may want to save to your Jelly Bean ported Rom...
Thxx
If you are starting with the Android ROM development be careful from what you do.
At first choose an old target to try.
But if you want to use your common device search for any recovery tool for it and search if it's possible to run android from the SD card and don't erase your actual system.
Thank you very much, but do you know, if the galaxy ace supports sd-card-roms???
Ask in the Galaxy Ace forums. But it's no usual to dual boot two Androids in an Android based device. I try my custom roms in a old Nike

I too am very interested in a stable version of android (any version) as my girlfriend can not stand bada but is not technical enough to flash all different ports and releases and i don't want to do it either.
Basically something till CM10 gets up and running to an acceptable standard
I might be talking out of the sky, but here it goes,
I have a handset Xolo X900 which was abandoned and I want to help out everyone whose Handsets were abandoned by the Companies but still able to run on latest Software so Here is my General Question
Suppose I have a Set with some version of Android and I want to upgrade it to latest , but the Phone Hardware vendor wont release it or upgrade it.
I want to be able to use the Android Source Code from Google to create a ROM or an Upgrade and bring the Handset to the Latest Version
I suppose It needs a lot but would be helpful if get some guidance from the Community to be able be free from the Vendor provided Updates for our System ,
I am ready for a Deep Dive to achieve this , but not able to find the correct Tools or Guide. , Please advice

Yes , its an x86 Android. I wonder if I can flash latest Android on it.
Its far fetched, but I wont mind trying if , someone hints on where to begin.
Custom rom will the biggest issue.
I have not found much resources on how to build one. Just couple of people who launch it and then we all use it.

If you visit the Android x86 website, you can find the source code and some instructions about compiling your custom kernel and customizing the ROM.
You can try to look for help in the project forum.
