I just found a MHL cable for the SGS2 on Amazon with Micro-USB to HDMI.
I have a Samsung HDTV bought about a year ago. Now i know that MHL means you can charge as well as view the phone stuff on the screen but MHL TVs have not released yet (i think, and even if they have i wont be getting one anytime soon).
So my question is can i still see the TV out if i use the MHL cable on my older TV? I know it definitely wont charge.
Anyone?? :S
yes you can.
all you need is the adapter from MHL (micro-USB) to HDMI, connect the HDMI to the TV and you are good to go.
the advantage of the original samsung adapter is the ability to connect a power cable to the adaptor and charge the phone while it transmits the picture to the TV.
hope i helped
Thanks mate
For anyone confused, an MHL cable is a Micro USB to HDMI cable - no ifs, no buts, this will transmit HDMI from a compatible MHL port. Nothing else needed (except I believe it must also be connected to power)
Your micro USB port on the bottom of your SGS2 is an MHL/USB port, and will therefore work.
Important to note is that not all micro USB ports are also MHL ports, therefore will not necessarily work on some other micro USB port on a different phone.
Hello all,
Today my micro HDMI to HDMI cable and HDMI to DVI adapter arrived. I put the lot together and attached it to my monitor, but it doesn't work... The Prime says that micro HDMI is connected when the cable with adapter is attached to the screen, but the screen doesn't pick up the signal.
I haven't tried putting the HDMI cable into a TV or so, because I have none...
btw. I'm on the latest update (.15?)
My panasonic tv didn't recognize the connection until i plugged it in to the extra hdmi port on the side of the tv. I don't know what the deal was, but I am glad it worked eventually.
Try another tv or monitor, it could be a compatibility issue.
Okay so I was looking at the official MHL adapter ( ebay china link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/160936506934 ) and noticed the microUSB-in..
-Do you need to have a microUSB plugged in to use MHL to HDMI?
-Could I use, say a microUSB to USB and connect a keyboard/mouse/flash drive (like smart dock basically) in addition to HDMI out?
Thank you.
I've got a Lindy MHL 3.0 adapter and it works flawlessly. However I'd like to hook up my wireless xbox 360 controller adapter (which also works flawlessly) - at the same time.
Obviously I can't plug anything into the micro usb whilst the mhl adapter is plugged in.
So, is there a 'y' cable that can be made or is there a dock allowing usb input along with mhl output?
According to the mhl 3.0 spec, there's support added for hid input (such as game controllers?) but I've no idea how they envisioned the physical setup with only a single micro usb port.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
i have already thought about that...
won`t work in my optionion unless you have a specific microhdmi output like to old XPERIA S....
Hi Guys,
I have Huawei Mate 20 pro and one of the reasons to buy this was the desktop mode.
I have an old HP monitor that has 3 ports (DVI, VGA and display port). So I bought 3 things. USB c to HDMI dock. HDMI Cable and HDMI to DVI Converter. I plugged all these in and my monitor is not picking any signals.
I think that the USB c to HDMI dock might be faulty so i ordered a new one but would it be better if i just get the USB c to DVI cable ? I wont be able to charge the phone but atleast it would work.
Can anyone advise ? I just want to use the Desktop mode on my old monitor with mouse, keyboard and charging.
I have a choetech usb-c to hdmi adapter that works perfectly for the mate 20 pro. I cannot advise how other bits will work.
Thanks for this message, I didn't even know that there was a desktop mode on my phone
I have a Startech adapter from USB-C to DVI, HDMI, VGA or miniDP and just tested out, everything works fine.
Maybe the resolution of your monitor is not supported?
