U can't plug it in and have it work that way. U have a router? Plug desktop into router and WiFi tether like that. rofit?:

you could try pdanet, it allows for wireless usb and bluetooth and so long as you don't need ssl its free

Wait... So I can use my phone as a modem/router for my Xbox 360? No... Too good to be true. Especially after I have a WiFi adapter in the mail.

Um... Laptop, crossover cable and network bridge. Not as hard as it sounds either. You could also use a router with tomato or ddwrt and route the xbox that way lol

Yeah... Have no computer at home so... Need Mac guyver to rig me something up with an alarm clock and a crack pipe. Bam! Turns into a WiFi adapter! So awesome!

Well that sucks...Wait a minute, alarm clock and crack pipe? Stop trying to blow things up Salamanca

At my apartment i have my wireless router in my livingroom wired to my Xbox360 and my desktop pc is two rooms away connected to the router, what I want to do is tether via bluetooth and than bridge the wireless and bluetooth connections so the xbox can connect to Live. do you guys think this is possible? let me know your input.

I'm confused. If the Xbox is already connected to the router, then why can't you connect to Live as it's setup now?
I wanna help answer your question, but I don't fully understand the problem.
If you don't have a home internet connection you should see if you can put dd-wrt on your router. Then you can connect the router to your phone as a wireless client and plug the Ethernet into the Xbox.

It is an open source, linux-based firmware for routers.

4g usb tethering + connection bridge for xbox360

hey guys ive looked every where n tried every program/thing i could find with no luck. basically i moved into a new apt i have no internet and wont be able to have some for a while, so what im trying to do (because my pc doesnt have a wireless netcard) is tether my 4g connection to my pc and then bridge that to my xbox 360.... everything works fine with the built in usb tether but it disconnects 4g. i tried easy tether which works fine on 4g but it doesnt bridge, i get an error saying there was an unexpected error creating bridge. i also tried pdanet WHICH IS AWESOME FAST! but again it wont bridge properly. it connects it creates bridge then disconnects and asks me to install "LEGACY PDANET" with is like dial up and will not allow me to bridge. PLEASE im desprete! all i need is to tether my 4g connection to my pc then bridge the connection to my xbox 360.... THANKS IN ADVANCE to who ever can help. if there isnt a way please let me know also

Have you called 1-800-4MYXBOX?
If not, when i worked there they had a networking specialty team that could do a lot of things. Might be worth a shot.
So. Really the issue is that when it works 4G doesn't. And when using a different app. The 4G works but it doesn't create the bridge and causes an error?
What version of windows?
Its just easier to root and use wireless man. Ever since the first evo came out, ps3 and xbox pick up the wireless. Neither system could pick up tether for me on my older devices..

Exactly! I'm on windows 7 its weird because when I had my HTC mogul I used to tether and bridge just fine and I could play online. I remember playing gta 4 online and it ran fine, voice chat and all. Now when I tether in 3g its slow as all hell.... Main reason I want 4g working.

[Q] Reverse Tethering on SGS2

I'm looking to access PC's internet and pass it to the Phone. Is this possible for our phones?
There are a number of cheap usb wifi adapters that can double as access points.
I'm guessing you have a laptop with mobile internet?

I have wifi at home but at work, I get no signal (data or voice) and wondering if I can connect via USB. I don't have wifi at work.
Yeah they'd probably have issue with you wirelessly broadcasting their internet.
Bluetooth however would work and is cheap. And won't interfere with the network at all.
I've read else where on xda that people have gotten it to work, but the only instructions were for linux, and I got a feeling your work computer is xp.
How easy? Alot depends on the operating system and bluetooth adapter.

Foxfi is good enough for systems where adhoc networks don't matter. The only way I have been succussful with tethering on the touch pad is with root and Wifi Tether app. Just Google it and side load it as it is not in the market. I hope that helps.
instead of using androids built in wifi settings to connect, I use "wifi analyzer". its free in google play, and allows you to see and do things that you can't using stock wifi connection settings. You can set different channels for a 5ghz as well as b/g/n 2.4ghz, as well as reconnect options etc etc. it's a nice way to see which channels are best to connect with.
Thanks,I will give that a try

Sometimes the TP doesn't see the phone, but my iPod touch, netbook and desktop see it.

try https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hal9000.zt180_adhoc_switcher&hl=en, it's what i use to tether to my touchpro 2 phone
Not rooted atm, when I was rooted,my TP didn't see it either

just because a device is rooted does not mean it will automatically see an ad-hoc connection from another android device. ad-hoc/peer to peer connections from droid to droid are tricky and flakey alot of times or just wont work at all depending on the kernel. everyone usually thinks that tethering and hotspot are the same thing. they are not. there is a big difference between ad-hoc and infrastructure connections.
FWIW, I have zero issues tethering my TP using the stock tethering feature of my Galaxy Nexus.

+1. That was my point. Ad hoc is touch and go device to device. I had to try several combinations to get my Samsung E4GT to tether well with my TP. The OP may want to check the LG forums to see what is working with that phone.
Thanks!I'll look around.

While I don’t know much about the OPs ROM, I was simply trying to say he might want to try the built-in tethering—assuming it’s available—versus some third-party app.
I don't think stock Lucid has a built in tethering

Question about tethering...?

I am curious to know why I can get 40mbps down and 20mbps up on my Note 2 but when I tether I only get about 5mbps down & 3mbps up on my desktop or laptop...? I know there would be a loss of SOME bandwidth but it seems like they are throttling tethering usage? I live right next to the tower so I guess I am lucky as far as that goes but I have used several apps and I just can't get the speed I would like... Any thoughts? TIA
How are you tethering? Bluetooth, USB, Wifi? I've only ever used bluetooth and wifi, and bluetooth was about 10 times slower than wifi on my Nexus.

Same here. I get about 10 to 11 down on average on my phone and get similar results when tethered to my laptop.
I'm using the stock mobile hotspot, though I doubt FoxFi would be any different. I just made a widget through Tasker and it bypasses the entitlement check. So I bet you could download any number of power control widgets that included a tether control and it would do the same thing.

yea i wouldnt think it matters...any tether app that uses the stock hotspot app but bypasses the subscription check should work fine.
don't know if this has been asked already, but is there a way to tether using phone minutes instead of data? thanks
PDANet from the play store tethers via USB. The app is pricey but works well.
