Flashtool is a very helpful tool if you want to unlock your bootloader it can do it.
If you want to flash some .tft files it can do it.
If you want to downgrade from 4.0.4 to 2.3.4 it can do it.
If you want to install busybox it can do it.
You can even Unroot your device.

Hello all,
I google a lot and tried too many times for days to downgrade my Xperia X10i mini to a rootable version (currently on 2.0.2.A.0.24). I had no luck
I used the flashing tool according to this popular thread. I used the (Update 14.11.2010) GUI VERSION.
I always get " Searching for Xperia...." and stuck at it.
I have the SE PC Companion installed,then added the official drivers from here
Again: No luck
Note:
1- PC companion flashed my 1.6 to the latest update (drivers r ok, as I think)
2- I have USB debugging ON
3- When in flash mode, I have a orange led + battery charge icon (is this correct)
Please help.
Might get more help asking in the "mini" section.

Long guide (for beginners)
- Download the attached ODIN file and extract the .zip file done with odin 1.85
- Download the attached XWKDD, but do NOT extract the .tar file
i saw my setting-about phone-kernel version 2.6.35.7-i9100dxkg3-cl375463rootdell147#2 ---->so i download KG3--->
CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KG3-v4.1-CWM4
- Download and extract SuperOneClick (Some say you should not be using the very latest version 1.9, but 1.5 or so) i think i'm not use it, so i not download it
- If you do not have Samsung's KIES 2.0 installed, download and install it. You need it to install the correct USB drivers, so the programs can communicate with the device. Reboot your computer after installation of KIES. done
- Make sure your device is in USB debugging mode: Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging done
- Reboot your device into download mode: Turn the device off, then power it on again by pressing and holding VolumeDown + Home + Power simultaneously. You will know when you are in download mode, it is really obvious done
- Start ODIN done
- Connect the device to your computer using USB done
- Wait a few seconds, the ODIN screen should show you that a device is now connected id:com--> 0:[com11]
- Make sure that in ODIN NOTHING is checked, except the "Auto reboot" and "F. Reset Time" checkboxes. Press the "PDA" button, and select the "XWKDD_insecure.tar" file. done
- Press "Start". ODIN you should now be flashing the kernel, and the device should reboot. device not reboot
- Wait until the device is rebooted, and while still being connected over USB, start SuperOneClick, and press ROOT.
- Reboot the device
- Done ! in odin, box in the top id:com-->FAIL(red colour)
are guys can help my problem? where is my fault?

Guess its your reading skills but as you dont say what method you used it is no more than a guess .
My guess is that on the first page it says this method is now obsolete and points you to this page .
Root + CWM .

Hi,
I've just bought a chinese mobile ISA A19Q and I can't get root. It has MTK6589 and Android 4.2.1
I've tested:
* MTK Droid tools v2.4.3 , the phone asks me to restore , I accept and it starts restoring, it finishes in about 1 second and MTK Droid tools progress bar cycles for hours with no result.
* Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v25 with the same result, tries to restore the phone but it can't get root
* Flashtool with a recovery ROM from CWM with no result, in the beginning I could flash some images with no effect in the factory menu (booting with vol - and power) but since I restarted the software with the factory menu I can't.
Don't know if this menu has any option, to be root, I post a photo here: http : / / s11.postimg.org / draewjm2b / IMG_20130403_132418.jpg
Thanks in advance.
Got it
Finally rooted it! I've spent hours with this phone. I'll tell the process here soon.

Recovery
Very usefull guide, thank you!
But how can I install TWRP or Clockworkmod recovery??
thanks again
Hi all,
I can't flash the stock rom on my xperia p with flashtool. I followed all step of many guide of various web sites (much the same). I trying to flash LT22i_6.2.A.1.100_Generic World.ftf, but when i connected my device in flash mode, i waited a few second and flashtool output this:
26/059/2014 15:59:57 - INFO - (MainSWT.java:127) - Device disconnected
26/000/2014 16:00:08 - INFO - (MainSWT.java:139) - Device connected with USB debugging off
26/000/2014 16:00:08 - INFO - (MainSWT.java:140) - For 2011 devices line, be sure you are not in MTP mode
Why? My device was in debug on when i plugged it, and Flashtool recognized it!
What is MTP mode??
Some details:
- My device is Xperia P LT22i;
- I have installed xperia p drivers;
- It has custom rom and kernel of Kit Kat's android version;
- It has unlocked BL;
- I'm using windows 7.
Sorry for my english. I hope this post is clear.
Thank's in advance =D
Turn device off
To flash it you must turn off your device & connect in Flashmode
"Device connected with USB debugging off" YOUR DEVICE ON NOT OFF
ya he is right
yes to flash firmware u have to connect the Device in flashmode (connect the device while holding vol - button )
MTP mode is media transfer mode u can access internal and SD card section through it..
Yes, i got it
Yes, i have pressed volume down on device turned off and plugged it. It sparkle green led, as guide say. Flashtool indeed output this:
27/032/2014 13:32:22 - INFO - Device connected in flash mode
It was on debug on, going to settings - developer options and ticking USB Debugging (hoping i have it right!)

Without performing flash, open flashtool and connect in flash mode, see that it stays in flash mode for about 45 seconds, if not it may be driver issue.

I'm using windows 7. I have installed xperia p drivers.
Talking of drivers, the first time i used drivers to unlock bootloader, i didn't use flashtool. Instead (following instructions in an android forum) i download a fastboot-driver folder containing Flashtool_drivers.exe and installed drivers from there and unlocked BL from command line (cmd). Later i download and installed flashtool (Version 0.9.10.2beta6). The procedure for installing drivers are the same. It might be this the problem?
I'm not very pratical with this element and terms. So be patient with me xD

instruction
1 ) Run label - Flashtool.exe ( After installing the label should appear on your desktop , but if it does not, look for a shortcut to the root directory of the installed program " C :/ ... / Flashtool")
2 ) After starting the program you will see the Flashtool window inside which will block with the lightning bolt (click )
3 ) In the resulting window, select Flashmode
4) In the resulting window , in the left center of the screen you will see the firmware which was previously thrown in " C :/ ... / Flashtool / firmwares", click on the firmware
5) On the right will "tick" do not click if you do not know what you are doing . "Wipe Data" means erase all that was in the phone. Remove or leave - you decide for yourself. However, we strongly recommend that when a different version of firmware OS erase everything .
6) We click "OK "
7 ) You will see a graphical user guide your actions , namely : Turn off your phone , hold Volume Down + Connect the USB cable to the computer and then to your phone. You did everything right if you turned green diode . In no case " run " line of the firmware not vyderayte USB cable! Do not get scared if you see a mistake sometimes in red font !
9. ) Wait reported successful firmware "Flashing finished"

You did not install flash and/or fastboot mode drivers too (though it seem you had if you unlocked bootloader)?
If you are on 64 bit windows you may try Flashtool.exe instead Flashtool64.exe.
Revealed(?)
@SonyFan23: Thanks for the guide. =)
I followed all steps carefully knowing terms and what it make me do. It's not the red font, but the red diode after the green one to worry me! -_-
@ChikeD: I try both Flashtool.exe and Flashtool64.exe. it seems they both work. In any case, i'm on 64 bit.
Yes, i unlock BL, so i had to install this drivers. But, after i connect my phone in flash mode as you told me, few seconds later flashtool show that the device is disconnected!
It seems that the problem is drivers.
