Guys, been searching for a while now but cant find a definite answer. I have my Galaxy Note for a year now, and planning to upgrade to Galaxy Note 2 this weekend.
Anyway, how can I transfer my files from the note to the new note 2? i have an ios and basically to do that in an ios, you just have to backup the old iphone and sync the new iphone in. and its done. apps, contacts, videos, photos, etc is transferred to the new phone. is it possible in an android? specially on a samsung galaxy note to galaxy note 2? or what other ways? kies perhaps? will that work like an itunes? i totally have no idea, galaxy note was my first android so this is my first time transferring files to the new one. and i cant, have both phones with me at the same time, bec i'll be having the old galaxy note traded for the new galaxy note 2 plus some cash.
Thanks in advance!
I use titanium backup to save copies of apps and their data on my sdcard and also sync to Dropbox.
Restoring things on the new phone is a matter of installing titanium backup and Dropbox, copying the backup to the phone and restoring using TB.
Of course- you need to be rooted to use TB.
I believe you can also use ADB to backup and restore apps, but I've never done that.

Now that we have root, how would I transfer apps from my S3 to the Note 2? I use titanium, so do I just simply restore all my apps and app data to the Note? I really don't want to lose my progress in some of my games....

Yes, backup and restore your apps+data. For system apps, just transfer the data or don't do it at all.
I recently upgraded from my old Verizon Galaxy Note 2 (not rooted) to the Note 3 (again Verizon and not rooted). I managed to transfer almost everything I need, but some of app data didn't transfer. First I used MyBackup Pro which transferred all my apps, call logs, texts, and other things but it didn't get some of my save games so I copy and pasted my /storage/sdcard0 (because that is the only directory you have acess to w/o root) to my new phone and that got the rest except for 8 games:
10000000, punch quest, fieldrunners, canabalt hd, mcpixel, funky smugglers, ridiculous fishing, plague inc, and rymdkapsel. I contacted eighty eight games (the developers of 10000000) how to move the 10000000 app data to my new phone and he said:
Heya Joshua,
Thanks!
It's certainly possible, though I haven't tried it myself. the save file is located here:
/data/data/com.eightyeightgames.tenmillion/shared_prefs/com.eightyeightgames.tenmillion.xml
so if you use a file manager you should be able to copy that file and path over to your new phone and keep all your data
Let me know how you get on!

Turns out these apps have there save data on the /data/data folder of the internal sd card. So I tried to go to the /data/data folder on my note 2 but it turns out you need root access to even view /data! Does anyone know how to transfer the app data from my old phone to my new phone without root?

Hi there,
Have been playing with Galaxy S III for a couple of months and really happy with the device. Right now, the disk space is in short, i need to move some of the unused data to computer for backup purpose. I knew it can be easy to backup photos, videos, etc... but it seems difficult to backup sms, music and contacts. I am curious is there any easy tool for this kind of purpose? Any input will be great appreciated.

Hi guys,
I plan to buy a new phone for Black Friday, I currently have a One Plus 6 with LineageOS 18.1 installed on it.
I'm not yet decided on next phone (Google Pixel 6, Samsung S21 Ultra, OnePlus 6 Pro or maybe a Xiaomi) and would like to know which would be the best to transfer my data (Sms, Whatsapp, Applications and their data).
I usually use titanium or swift backup and transfer the whole sdcard content from old phone to pc and from pc to new phone but It's really painful as data is growing (More than 80 Gb to move with a phone in mtp mode ... :'( )
I'd like to find an easier solution, possibly which doesn't need rooting or unlocking.
Many thanks for your help
Hello,
Two weeks I bought a new phone, a Samsung S23 Ultra. I transferred all data from my old phone, a S21, to my new phone. All went well according to the Samsung transfer tool, so I didn't look any further.
However, last week I noticed that I couldn't view any of the images that I sent with Whatsapp. When I click a greyed out image in a Whatsapp conversiation, it gives this error: "media file does not exist on internal storage whatsapp sent images". So I looked into that folder and there wasn't any old image there, only a few that I sent over the last few days.
At first I thought something must have gone wrong with the transfer from my old phone to my new phone, so I unstalled Whatsapp, reinstalled it and let Whatsapp do a restore from Google Drive instead. This didn't work either, it produced the same result, no sent images.
I think someting went wrong with the data transfer my old phone to my new phone, and because I noticed it only a few days later, Whatsapp made a new backup to Google Drive with an (almost) empty 'sent' folder, overwriting all existing sent images. I don't have my old phone anymore because I sold it. So I can't recover these images from my old phone, but now I lost years worth of images in all my Whatsapp conversations.
Does anyone know what I can do to somehow restore this? Is there a way to get an old backup from Google Drive?
