Hey a little help here. I have this issue right now (stuck on samsung logo) after trying to root with Odin. I am following the directions on another post to go back to the official firmware but i'm having a problem locating the S/N. This is a replacement phone i got out of warranty last week. I was able to root/unroot my old phone but that was still in GB b/c I didn't update it due to the bugs in ICS. Well this one already had ICS and now I'm having a ****load of problems.
The only numbers I see on the phone behind battery is the
IMEI
SKU
FCC ID
Where do I find the S/N to put into keis so I can go back to the official firmware?
Is it not under the IMEI bar code on the sticker under the battery?
Should see S/N then a number.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
No it's not there
All it has is
Model: SGH-1717
IMEI: ######/##/#####/#
(barcode)
SKU: S####
(barcode)
FCC ID: A3LSGHI717
Made in Korea M34 CE0168

And I take it you received no box with the phone?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
No because it was an exchange from the warranty device center b/c the last one stopped charging. All I received was a new handset and battery.

Thats weird. Maybe cuz it's a refurb they removed the serial number from the sticker? Can you get into recovery to restart the phone?

Once the phone is operational, you can find the serial number in settings, about phone, status.

if i do so by pressing the vol up + on button and releasing the power button when the screen comes on then No i can't. It just stays on samsung logo again.
I can still enter into download mode though
Try holding power, and vol up and vol down until it vibrates. Then release power but still hold up and down. See what happens then.

What are your options? Can you reboot? If so, try that to get you back to regular ics.
Sent from one bad ass, highly modified, Samsung Galaxy Note using the BEST in mobile apps, XDA-Developers!
It gives me these options:
Reboot system now
Apply update from external storage
wipe data/factory rest
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache
I'm going to reboot now as you said and see what happens
If that doesn't work, read this:

so far it just does the same. Flashes regular samsung logo quickly (no hightlite) and the displays the hightlighted samsung logo on screen. it's been about 2 mins

The objective here is to get back to the prior operating system, normal mode. From there you can access the settings, about phone, status information to retrieve your serial number.

Hopefully someone takes the time to respond in a timely manner....,. you think if I download the official AT&T ICS firmware and flash via odin in download mode it will reverse everything and be fixed?
I'm currently downloading the firmware from this post http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-note-sgh-i717-att-android-4-0-4-ics-uclf6-official-102124/
and it says it's for people who need to do a manual install.

Hi guys,
so my friend gave me her i9100 (international) saying it was broken and did not turn on. It didn't turn on indeed. After holding the power button for a short time (about 3 secs) it does not react at all. If I keep the button pressed for like 8 secs, it shows the white Samsung logo and stays that way. If i try to enter recovery, the android with the stuff spinning in it's belly appears, but it does not go any futher than that. I have not tried entering the download mode though, as it's my last resort. Have any of you encountered this problem? Or is reflashing with odin my only option? I've tried switching batteries, taking it out and etc. already.
Thanks.
P.S. The device has never been rooted nor it had a custom ROM.

If the phone's never been messed with & you're messing with it now as opposed to sending it in for warranty service, that makes you (you clearly have no experience whatsoever with this device) and her (for not sending it in for warranty service in the first place) fools. If you stuff it up, she's going to still have a non-working phone & she'll be paying almost as much as the phone's worth 2nd hand to have it fixed.

The warranty's over already and she's got a new phone, so if it works, she'll have two of them. If it doesn't, well... that will change nothing

So I have a rather interesting situation. I got my phone through preorder like many others did, and got a 27th stability update right away. I installed it, used the device for a while. Later in the day I went into download mode to see if my phone said anything about being bootloader- locked.
The funny thing is that now, device status shows as custom, and updates fail due to "unauthorized" changes, which were never made
So my question: can that be fixed without wiping device? What do u think triggered that? Booting into DL even if I didn't do anything else?
Thanks for your help in advance!

I am not very good at this but I was trying Android L theme (a xposed module) it wrote some system files (which I didn't know) and things went wrong;
it was stuck in boot, it will show black screen when turn on always, so I went to recovery mode, and factory reset, nothing happens, wipe data, nothing, now i decided to re-flash (i think how it is called) to put a stock 4.4.4 rom with adb sideloader, but it doesnt recognize my phone (i think because usb debugging is not enabled) I dont know what to do now,
some help here, thanks:good:
