Towers will be going down intermittently until 9pm tonight it started last night around 6pm. I was told it will primarily effecting text messaging. Right now I can't send, but can receive but when I do receive I am getting them 4 and 5 times.

Where'd you get this information? Are the upgrading, or fixing to light up some LTE?

how do you know this bit of info?
This has been happening to me around cocoa off and on for the past few weeks now. I was starting to think it was my phone.
My data speeds have also been pretty much non-existent with it showing it connected to an "unknown" type of network. If I'm lucky the speed test will complete around 10-20kb/s but half the time it just gives me an error.
I haven't seen anything like this happening between my home in Apopka and work in South Orlando. Are there certain stipulations as to how this is happening for some, like tower location, handset configuration, etc.
Im in Apopka just north of the 429 and have been getting double text messages for the passed 2 weeks
My wife also on her GS3 has been receiving multiple sms and mms

You know what, I just found one that I did get a duplicate of on the 13th at 6:42pm. Odd, didn't even realize it. Exact same area as you.
I wonder if my wife would have this problem on her EVO 3D?

Yeah, but if you get into Altamonte Springs, around Best Buy and closer towards I-4, you'll see pretty impressive speeds. I got about 1.2mbps down over that way.
I spent a little time speaking to a few techs this morning until I got some real information. I live in Lakeland and work off Lee and OBT. I started to get flustered on Friday afternoon and when it got worst as I traveled home I called up and received that information. In Lakeland they are upgrading multiple towers as well as Winter Garden through Maitland Exchange area. Was told that Lakeland would be back up today by 6pm central time, Winter Garden around the same but no exact time on Maintland Exchange area.
PS I can finally send texts and receive as well here and its finally stopped the multiple messages.

I figured it was something like that...for some reason I thought it was because of the major thunderstorm/mini-hurricane outside of my house lol but this is the first time it's happened to me and I also used to own OG Evo.

It's only when your texting more then one person, and are on an air rave.. It's driving me crazy.
Sent from my HTC Evo 3D.
happened to me about 2 weeks ago... super frustrating
Had it happen in the past with EVO4g
I just chalked it up to phone being *****y so i gave it a few seconds to get it out its system

Make your first phone call !!!! Evo 3d will not work unless you make the first phone call and your carrier activates the phone on the call, i have turned this bug into the executive office at sprint last week... It is being distributed to all call centers ...

I get it when the network is extremely congested. (comerica park during a busy game, wayne state during the school year). In both of those cases you have 20 or 30 thousand extra people in a very small area. Were you in that type of situation?

Yeah, your having two separate issues. Same thing happens here with the air rave really annoys people..
Same problem in Milwaukee, WI with "Radio resource shortage" message. Spoke to sprint they indicated I had a text block on my account, news to me. Once removed seems to have resolved the issue.
Is Sprint having outages that i don't know about? At least 5 times a week (past 3 weeks) my 3G icon goes away and my signal bars turn gray and i cant call, text or use data. Its extremely frustrating! Its not my bill/service as im always on time and ive NEVER been late or missed a payment so that's not the problem. I just dont get it. Ive reset my phone a million times! What is going on? When i make calls it just says "your account cannot be validated" and all text get rejected. After a couple of hours the 3G comes back and i can make calls. Sprint you're already horrible please dont make me pay cancellation fees because i will.
Anyone else experience this?
Sounds like a tower issue, happened to me months ago, call and complain, got a credit when doing so myself. Worse case scenario they make you hard reset, it doesn't work, they send a tech to the tower and they figure our there is a problem

Just call for a credit, remember, you can't use unlimited data on Big Red, and if they won't give you most of your bill back, try speaking to a manager and demanding your money back as you were not getting the required service specified in the contract.
EDIT: Remember, go up the chain of commands if needed, and be persistent.

Why are my text message always delayed? It can takes 30 minutes for someone to get a message from me or they just usually say "pending". I'm on CleanROM ICS. Any ideas on why this is happening? I have full 4G bars.

The txt message part is still handled on the old 1X ( cdma ) side of the network. I believe this still applies with 4G; at least at this time.
I have noticed this with being with Verizon starting about 2007. I use to be subscribed to a service that sent me txt updates every few minutes. It was easy to see the delays, and when you got literally 5-8 messages all at the same time, with all the same time stamp, but received by the network at all different times, it was very noticeable.
I complained about this and informed them that this problem never occurred until i got this new phone, so i literally went through about 5 or 6 warranty replacements even a different model without a change. Interesting enough, going back to the old phone the problem stopped.
I took the complaint to the highest level, and they literally had no explanation as to why this was happening after monitoring my traffic. They were stumped. I did some research and noticed that a new cdma chipset came out about a year earlier, and i suspect, but can't prove that is the culprit, and i would bet that that same chip-set or a variation of it is still in use today... my theory anyway.
I emailed my vzw contact, and got no response... imagine that!

Just got off the phone with Sprint, and they said I won't be able to make a phone call, receive phone calls, or even text messages until October 14th because they are in the process of upgrading their towers to the new LTE network in the Fort Worth area. It's weird to own a phone that I can't use for the most basic features. GO Sprint GO.
P.S. Any recommendations on how to make a phone call or text over data so I can still make calls/text?

Sounds fishy... It's hard to believe that a carrier would just deny services and continue to charge for them. I assume this would mean no service for anyone in the ft worth area since you're not the only one who uses those towers. I don't think Sprint would risk the class action lawsuit.

No arguments there. I'll probably call back in a few days to see if they have anything better for me. Right now I'm sick and lost my voice, so I just don't want to deal with it. But once I get my voice back, I'll see if I can't get anything better out of them. Especially since I'm still paying for when I can't even use my phone which is kind of stupid.

Why would you call back in a few days? I would all over them about this if it were me and I wouldn't let up until I had a real explanation. Tell them to fix your **** or let you out of your contract (as not providing service to you while I assume you are in good standing and not violation the TOS on their part)
However, there are at least 3 sides to every situation what you say, what sprint says, and what really going on. Not calling you a liar it just seems like there is more to the story.
That's my 2 cents.

Sounds like a load of BS to me. I haven't had a problem with service around the area... I haven't actually been into "Fort Worth" in a few days, but I live pretty damn close. There is no way they could just shut off all services like that for almost two months. That rep must have been new or lied or something, because that doesn't even SOUND reasonable.
lol if they couldnt provide me service until Oct. 14th i would have just said i want to cancel without a fee immediately because i do business with my phone. and they can't really do squat because i pay for a service and they don't even let me do the most basic of functions.
OP needs to call back and get clarification. Only thing I have found:
https://www.sprint.net/maint_view.php
I might try to call again tonight once I get off of work. But again I'm not entirely sure what to say. Plus right now, I've lost my voice, so I can barely talk, as a result, I can't even show anger in my voice, so getting made isn't much of an option. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do yet.

I just got off the phone with the a Sprint manager last night, who then connected me to her EVO specialist. She was also unable to solve the problem, so she told me that she will get the towers in the area looked at and try to determine what is going on in the area and give me a call back within 72 hours. That said, they said they were going to do this once before 5 days ago now, but I still haven't got a call back from then. However, one good thing that I got out of it all is that they are crediting my account for the past 6 days and how ever many days more it takes to get my phone back on the network. So at the very least, now I'm not paying for phone service that I'm not getting, so that makes me happy. I'm sure they will figure something soon with the towers if not maybe they can give me Airrave so I can at least make phone calls while I'm at home which would make things more liveable. I'll keep everyone posted on what they discover and what they decide to do.
In addition, my location is the TCU campus in Fort Worth. I live close by and go to school there. In both areas I get no cell service. But once I drive about 5 miles away I have no problems. Let me know if anyone else in the area is experience the problems on XDA. The sprint store nearby between Berry and Hulen St. said they have had a few customers coming the past few days with the same problem, but I was curious if anyone on here was also experiencing my pain.

I don't think you have the same problem that I do, because if I leave my area my phone works, fine. I'm only having trouble when I'm at TCU or at my house which is right next to TCU. But who knows, maybe they are related.
P.S. I've already changed my phone to CDMA only to see if it would help but got no change. Plus I've already taken it into the Sprint store, and they said everything was fine with the phone and factory reset it and everything, but saw no problems because their building is outside of my tower radius, as a result the phone worked perfectly there.
Yes its another LTE thread.....I dont know how many folk in here are in the Indy area but just wanted to say I called Sprint 2 months about the crappy coverage 1st in the NE side which they just told me "network upgrades" and when I called yesterday since Im now on the west side the rep gave the whole spill on them upgrading to the new network and she said by OCt 31st all issues should be resolved and majority of Indy market will have some sort of LTE.....while I do realize this IS Sprint we are talking about and it should be taken with a grain of salt I thought Id share.......

Lafayette is part of the Indy market. I am on the west side of indy and 3g is worse than dial up. I have called sprint may times over the past 6 months and all they do is give me a bill credit to shut me up and tell me they are working on it and it should get better by the end of the year.

Bill credit? I'm on the Westside, too - this is good to know. How is everyone's general call reception? I drop calls like CRAZY. Was hoping that the new radio/firmware would have fixed it - but it didn't. The day I upgraded from the OG EVO, I wasn't having issues...so makes me wonder if its really the network upgrade that's at fault.
If you call sprint and be polite ( during the day is better ) and complain alittle they might offer a bill credit to keep you happy. They are having alot off capacity issues right now in indianapolis area. They have neglected the area for so long they are behind. They also are starting the preps for network vision in a few areas on the westside, so depending where you are it could be few diffrent things.
Yes they will tell you that they will give you a credit and tell you it should be resolved by the 31st of Oct. With their latest announcement hopefully we should start to see some improvement over the next few weeks. I live on Westside close to Avon and yesterday I got no texts for 3 hrs then I got like 20 in 1 min. lol.
my service in Indy (I live in Carmel) has been really sporadic, and actually quite terrible in my house. I can't wait for updates. also, with regards to no texts for 20min, etc, just restart the phone and your service should be restored.

I was up in Munster this past weekend and got my 1st taste of LTE. I think its very new up there and is only a fraction of what it will be...just let me say, be very excited to finally get LTE this winter
According to Sprint's press release from a few days back, Indy / Carmel should be 'launched' by the end of the year, or "coming months" in sprint parlance. S4GRU has stated that work will begin next month at some point in the market. I'm not a premium sub, so I don't have access to exact dates for exact sites. Also, Sprint said in their release that you might be able to pick up 4g signal while their contractors are working on upgrades, so many here in this thread may be seeing signal starting to pop up occasionally in the next few weeks. Start thinking about switching your 4g settings back to CDMA/LTE. Unfortunately for me, I'm in Bloomington, which wasn't in the 100 markets that Sprint's press release mentioned, so LTE won't be launched here by the end of the year. However, my speeds are, for the most part, passable and I don't have speeds worse than dial-up, so I'm fine with waiting. OP - which part of north-east side? Any particular suburb? I'm well familiar with that part of Indy.
Was in the Castelton area but now on West side by Avon. If I'm correct according to their latest release we should be able to use some of the LTE.....I don't care if its 2meg down...better than 128k

I'm thinking they may have already done some of the 3G network vision work. I've noticed consistently better 3G speeds downtown here lately (~ 1mbps, compared to < 500 kbps before).
