Help! Xperia Mini Pro (SK17i) - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hi!first of all this is a great site that i've stumbled upon while google searching on how to fix my phone. Now, the problem started when i updated to ICS. After the update there were spots on the touchscreen that were unresponsive but i'm a physical keyboard type of guy so that did't bother me much when it came to texting but when the need for swiping comes it gets very irritating as my swipe action becomes incomplete. Although it can easily be solved when i'm on landscape mode. Still, on landscape mode the bottom part of the screen becomes unresponsive. Though i can still bare with it. The real problem happened a few days ago when my screen became distorted when used in portrait mode but the distortion disappears when in landscape mode. Then after a while it becomes distorted on both landscape and portrait mode. Everytime i have to unlock the phone the screen just goes black specially on portarit mode and i have to repeatedly press the power button to make the screen appear just so i can unlock my phone. Then two days ago the screen just totally went black but the backlight still turns on not even the logo appears everytime i turn it on. I tried connecting it to my pc to fix it but the phone cannot be detected. I searched and did a hard reset (pressing the power button and home button simultaneously) and voila! the screen works and the logo finally appeared but still distorted. So i plugged it back to the pc and installed the software update. After the update i tried turning it on again but the same black screen i've mentioned happened again nothing shows on the screen not even the logo. I tried hard resetting it again but it didn't work. Please help i really love this phone :crying:
By the way the phone is all "stock" meaning i haven't done anything to it (flashing ROM, etc). please please please help.

Downgrade to GB using flashtools. Maybe that helps

Have you tried repairing with PCC or flashing stock firmware via flashtool? Maybe that would solve your problem, hope its not hardware related :/

yes i have tried repairing it with PCC. The repair finishes but its still only black screen when i turn it on. The phone still vibrates though and the led light lights up when i connect it to pc or charger.
Haven't tried flashing as i do not know how and when i connect my phone to the pc it doesnt appear on "My Computer" and is only read by PCC when i'm attempting to repair it, in which the latter happens rarely.

i cannot do so as the screen is not functional. It is just black with the backlight on. Not even the logo appears when i turn it on.

Hmmmm...i don't believe it's cause by upgrading to ICS....i believe your LCD ribbons is damage...try open and close the keyboard slider slowly and listen to the sound...if the sound isn't smooth then the ribbons is damages...you can also feel it when you slide it open and close it...

First download Flashtools from here: http://uploaded.net/file/9o4swxaa
Then download Mini Pro Firmware from here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27376024#post27376024(choose any firmware for Mini Pro)
Then do this:
Make sure Flashtool is installed.
Place downloaded firmware file(.ftf format) in Flashtool\firmwares(by default C:\Program Files\Flashtool) folder.
Start Flashtool.
Click the lightning button and choose Flashmode.
Firmware should appear there, if you have it in correct folder. Choose it.
Turn off your phone, connect USB cable to computer, then press Volume Down button and connect USB cable to your phone.
Flashtool should detect your phone and starts flashing. Follow the instructions.
When it says „Flashing completed“, unplug your phone and turn it on.

[Q] 3 problems in my x10

Hi all. I have multiple problems in my x10i.it has 2.1 It was rooted and worked fine..few days ago I tried to wipe the phone and did the master reset via xrecovery ..after the restart it just hanged at the boot logo and xrecovery is not working from then....I wanted to update with SEUS via USB... but the phone is not connecting as well...What should I do? PLZ HELP ME GUYZ........
Hi,
Seus doesn't recognize your x10 even if you hold back button while plugging usb (flash mode) ?
This week my x10 2.1 crashed (I suppose it was because of rooting with superoneclick without rebooting immediatly), and wasn't recognized by windows. It was in a loop turnig on/off and only putting off battery could turn it off really. Big Problem.
The only solution I found : putting off battery, pluggin usb cable, holding back button and putting on battery. Back button still hold (like flash mode) until seus recognize x10. Then it runs alone and install rom (after I rooted with flashtools and launched jit optimisation, witch increase truely x10 performances!).
Probably seus not recognize your phone because you have a rooted and custom firmware in your x10 and xrecovery is not working because you did a reset and then you delete some files from your phone, you can reinstall it with the x10flashtool or to make a complete restore firmware whit the same x10flashtool
If SEUS/PCC doesn`t recognize your phone, remove them from PC and reinstall them.
You have an USB driver problem

Did you wait for at least 30 seconds before putting battery inside phone (to make sure clearing all memories? And sure you hold back button before, during and after?
Otherwise, what does happen if you press and hold volume button before turning on the phone (and keep volume button hold)?

Well your usb is definitly working then as its glowin green?..
Are you sure you are doing it all right? It happened the same to me, and it ended I was pressing the wrong buttom (I knew which one was the correct one, but was blind cause I was scared that Ive broke it totally), a day later I noticed it and I was able to flash my phone.
However, read a guide and follow it step by step, reinstall everything and start from beginning maybe?
Or use the repair function with PC Companion
Hi! I had the same problem!
1. Search and download from this forum Flashtool 0.2.6
2. Install it.
3. Download from this forum one generic ROM (for exemple X10i_2.1.A.435_GLOBAL-GGL GENERIC 1232-9897 )
4. Put the file in directory Flashtool/firmware
5. Launch X10flashtool.exe
6. DO NOT PUT THE USB CABLE IN THE PHONE
7.From option "flash select the desired ROM
8. Wait the program to begin(a picture will appear)
9. Pressing the back button, insert the usb cable.
10. Wait the flashing to begin and release the back button.
Follow instructions and WAIT around 5 minutes until flashing will complete
11. Send me two words if it helps you! Success!

My X10 mini was a brick (or I thought it was) because it was behaving like you described: the phone was stuck on the SE logo and it wasn't entering Flash Mode although I pressed the back key when the Sony Ericsson white letters were displayed.
Here is my solution
Open SEUS and select your phone. Click Next.
SEUS will wait for the device.
Connect your bricked phone via the USB cable.
Then you must access Flash Mode, at all costs.
SEUS, PC Companion and FlashTool can detect this phone only in Flash Mode.
Note: If your phone is resetting correctly (pressing and holding Power+Center) and the phone is being detected as an unmounted removable drive on the computer as mine did, it should be able to enter Flash Mode, no matter it has been already stuck for ages on the first screen with the white letters. My phone had enough battery charge to go through the whole process.
To enter Flash Mode with the Xperia X10 Mini I had to:
1. Perform a hard reset of the phone (Press and hold Power+Center)
2. As soon as the phone vibrates, release both keys. Phone will restart.
3. The white Sony Ericsson logo will be displayed.
4. Press and hold Power+Center and immediatly the Back key (the three keys at the same time)
5. Keep the keys pressed until the LED turns green.
After doing the correct sequence and entering Flash Mode, the LED turns green and the screen turns completely black. SEUS detected my phone at this point, downloaded the original firmware and installed it automatically.
do u have trick for my problem here forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1388476
my x10 just vibrate once and stack on blank screen.
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
When I use SEUS It keep saying "You have the newest software available"
I tried the hard reset and all. The phone now just won't start at all
Hi,
i got the same problem what you describe ive stuck at the SE logo and cant get into recovery and i cant use flashtool. i tried to do what you say in the first post, but when i press the shell root button, it says "wait for device" then its not responding, and i cant moce on to the next step... what should i do now?

Hi,
The procedure described above works fine until you've the phone recognized by the computer.
Here's how It has finally been recognized:
1) Completely switch off the phone (Do not leave it with SE logo).
-You can do the either by removing the battery connector (be cautious) under a rubber on the left(not above) of the camera lens.
-OR when the USB is plugged in,
(1.1) press center + back + power button until power off,
(1.2) then release center and power button AND KEEP back button down(about 2-5 seconds) until green led lights on. remark:LED will stay green until you unplug USB or phone switches on.
(1.3) Unplug USB.
Your phone should be OFF now. SE logo doesn't appear anymore (Wait 30s to be sure)
2) Unplug the USB cable from computer and plug it in another USB port of the PC.
3) At this time, if you plug USB on your X10 mini, it should be recognized as a SEMC device (It has worked for me).
-Success? Go step 4
-Failure, retry (from step 2 should be enough) with another USB port. If you've tryied all ports already, I've no idea.
4) If step 3 is successful, unplug USB.
5) Start SEUS (update service program from SE), choose you phone, follow the instructions on screen. Remark: Even if it says that you've got the last version, there is an "Install" button available on the bottom right corner. Click it!
Hope it'll help.

[Q]Can't boot xperia x10 mini pro in flash mode and can't back it to stock ROM

Hello comrades,
I have xperia x10 mini pro. I rooted phone with Flashtool and installed CWM. I tried to boot it in flash mode (turned off phone, back button held and plugged in USB into the phone), but what I get is that my phone turned on always, like that I pressed Power button.
Earlier I couldn't boot it into the flash mode and I got that I charging battery, but after I installed CWM, phone always turns on.
Due to, I can't re-flash it because it always turns on. I tried with flashtool, PC companion, SEUS but all software need that I turn off phone and then hold back button and plug in usb and what I get is turned on phone. Please help me how to fix this problem.
I would like to re-flash it to stock 2.1.1.A.0.6 (2.1-update1).
Phone turns on even if I just plug in usb to phone (one end is in the PC and when I plug in other end into the phone, phone turns on). What is wrong guys?

Happened to me b4 if u want to repair with pc comp just remove the battery till u reach connection step then quickly connect battery and cable (nvm the cover) and hold back button when connecting if u do fast enough will work

THX nAa. VERY MUCH!!!
Leave your phone plugged in and press POWER-HOME and BACK all together, as soon as the screen turns completelly black (backlight off too) releast POWER and HOME, and leave the back-button pressed, that will probably work too.

How do you mean until I reach connection step, where should I reach connection step?
You take out the battery, then you go into PC Companion and follow the steps to repair your phone, until it asks to connect your phone in flash-mode.
Then do as he said (put the battery in etc.)

What do you think, what will happened if I wipe it using CWM? Can I brick it on that way?
If you mean formatting your phone, so you don't have a system on there anymore... that probably will give you a brick. Flashmode is a hardware feature, implemented to install firmware and enable reparations to your phone's software.
Deleting everything you can will not magically solve your problem, as far as i know.
It might help if you get mad at the phone and abuse the back-button by repeatedly pressing it when connecting the phone.

Does this mean that I have hardware problem. Phone works without any problem.
Somehow it doesn't detect you pressing the back-button, maybe there is some dust or dirt inbetween the contacts or something, since you flashed sucessfully before i don't think it's a serious hardware-problem.

I didn't flashed it before, I couldn't do that. I couldn't unlock bootloader, because I couldn't boot it in flash mode (phone just show that battery charging), after installing CWM now phone even don't show that battery is charging (it turns on when I plug in USB in the phone without holding any button). This is nightmare!
You are still on the original firmware then?
I mean, your phone still works?

Yes, I am on original firmware and phone still works, but I have problem to boot it in flash mode. When I plug in USB cable in the phone it turns on, like that I pressed POWER button. I don't press any button, but when I plug in usb cable 10-20 seconds and phone is on.
Yes, because your phone detects the usb-cable getting plugged in, even when it's off, it thinks you want to charge it, so (normally) it loads the kernel in order to start the charging-process, that is normal behaviour. I have been on a kernel that didn't support that feature, and it booted into the full rom before it started charging.
In short: the usb-port also functions as a power-button, sort off
Does the back-button work normally when you're on the firmware? (Like, open the app-drawer, pressing back-button should close it?)

Yes, the back button works perfect, closing apps (not close apps, but back to the phones "desktop"), back to previous pages in browser...
I am concerned because, before I installed CWM , when it was OFF and plugged in on USB, phone just showed black screen and when I clicked on some button I could see that battery is charging, that was all. Now, when I plug in USB it turns on like I pressed POWER button.
And off course never booted in flash mode because it turns on

What is app-drawer, I don't know what is that.
oh, that's the bit where you find all your installed apps, the grid you see when you press on the little triangle on the bottom of your desktop, or swipe up on the desktop.
I honestly don't know why your phone won't go into flash-mode though. Maybe try to take out your battery for about 10 minutes so your phone gets rid of all charge and static, and then try again.

I solved problem about POWER-ing on when I plug in USB. I installed new ROM "MiniCM7Pro_V21_Paul_XXX" via CWM because I didn't need to boot it in flash mode and now when I plug in USB I got that it charging battery and orange led diode.
But I can't boot it in flash mode even with new ROM, all the time orange led diode when I hold back button and plug in USB. I wiped out all date except something about "battery" from Advanced CWM options.

I would like to re-flash it to stock 2.1.1.A.0.6 (2.1-update1).

totally dead x10a? help me plz

Hello!
I read for hours now, bot no luck
I flashed my x10a with flashtool with generic rom.
After flash, as the flashtool says, just turned off and on the phone.
But nothing happened(green led blink one and do a sort vibration, thats all..)
no logo, no sound nothing happens.
I tried to reflash again, but windows says: Cannot recognize the device
In the control panel device manager show "unknown device".
Because of this , cannot reflash with the tool, because it's waiting for the recognized device too..
when i press the back and connect the cable, the green lighting for a minute , and turns of..
Yes, i have the correct drivers(as you can see i flashed before).
Help me guyz, please, if U can
Does it go into flashmode?
Did you try flashing it regardless of unknown device in windows?

Try flashing back to stock non root. It may suck but at least you'll have a starting point. It'll read. Ust make sure you have newest flashtool. Just had the same problem with my x10. Its still havin troubles tho.

Try removing battery, insert usb cable, insert battery while holding back button. I spent 8 hours last night just trying to get back to stock. Your phone is semi bricked. Its a pain in the ass but it eventually works.

Hey go back to stock 1st then try rooting later,
1) launch pc companion
2) select support zone
3) now select phone software update
4) then click on repair phone
Now software will download the stock ROM along with stock kernel..
When the software asks you to connect in flash mode, do the following
1) turn off the phone
2) Remove battery
3) Connect the USB cable to phone as well as to the laptop
4) Place the battery back while holding down the back button (3rd button from the left)
5) Green light should glow and the stock ROM and kernel should be flashed automatically..
When it's done you should have a stock unrooted X10, if you want then flash custom Rom after rooting it, be sure to unlock the boot loader if u want to flash custom kernel... Good luck

what do you mean by flashtool cant be done?
try this:
1) open flashtool
2) press the flash button and select any stock ftf firmware
3) now after pop up comes to connect phone in flashmode---- remove battery, connect the phone via usb, and lastly pressing back button insert battery simultaneously.
Now the flashing should start hopefully.
if this doesnt work please post the error you get in flashtool
i have the same problem with my phone only mine is x10i i reflashed 2.3.3. ftf ..like 7..8 times ..and still not working..btw smth the flashtool give me some error ..and other times works and says that the phone was flashed ..but phone still only 1 virbate and 1 blink green light now i am kinda bumped because i repair it once ...and now has the same problem
hello all!
thanks for all help.
What happened:
Hopefully i found the USB port have error. If is stand in half leg, not breathing for a minute and beg for christmas the connection made successfully, and first the SEUS , after the flashtool can recognize the phone well.
Now the phone working perfectly and going to my friend's service for fix the usb port problem.

[Xperia U] boot loop/soft brick

While updating a new Xperia U to ICS the PCC had an error while flashing the new firmware. Now the screen lights up, the sony logo is shown for ~3-5 seconds and then it reboots.
After that I have been unable to get it recognized again by either PCC/SUS or flash tool.
I also checked my log files in Linux and no device appears.
I've tried 3 different machines (2x Windows 8, 1x Win 7), multiple USB ports. Also leaving the battery out for ~30 mins didn't change the behavior.
The green light for download mode comes on, but after about 5 seconds the light goes out and it goes into the boot loop again.
So by now I believe the device needs to be sent in, but maybe some one has a few more things I can try.
Try pressing the volume down plus volume up plus power button all 3 simultaneously till u feel 3 vibrations

Can you make sure the Flashtool drivers are installed ? Go to Flashtool Directory, open drivers directory and start the setup.. Make sure to select the Flashmode and Fastboot drivers are also selected. Then, reboot System and folow this order.
Startt flashtool, select f/w, wait for Flashtool to tell you to connect to device. Then, holding the Volume down button (while phone is switched off), plug the cable into phone (The usb cable must already be connected to PC before starting the Flash Procedure )
The Order is very important.. I had same issue with U (althoguh mine crashed with Flashtool and same as what you observed. When I followed this order, I was able to get it detected and flashed )
Hopefully, you wont need to return to Service Center
let me know how it goes

No response, I've tried holding all three buttons for a minute, but it doesn't vibrate after turning on. The only way I can turn it off is by removing the battery.

I tried that right now, Flashmode and Fastboot drivers are installed. Flash tool is ready, device is plugged in with volume down pressed, green light comes on. Nothing is found on the PC, after about 5 seconds the green light turns off and the phone shows the sony logo. Green light also comes on if i simply plug in the usb without volume down pressed. So I'm thinking, the download mode has some how been corrupted?

Are u connecting it properly???
Make sure when u connect ur cell to ur pc u have nt presed the power key
keep the phone off
Press the volume down button ( keep it pressed, dun
leave it) and connect it to the usb
U will see green light
Darn.. That looks bad.. That did it for me on every occasion. I think you might have a hardbrick due to the interrupted write cycle so I dont think any other way except to take it to Service Center

Exactly what I'm doing and the green light does come on. Except it decides to go into a boot loop after it apperantly boots into download mode but doesn't stay there.

That's what I've been fearing. In which case it goes back to the seller in the hope that he will send me a new device.

Have you manage to recover your phone without taking it to service?
I'm in the exactly same situation... Any help is welcome...
While trying to enter flashmode, green light turns on but after some secs it turns off and sony logo appears on screen. any chance to recover this beautiful brick ?
thanks
After several tries (a lot of...) I manage to enter flashmode and SUS is now reinstalling sony ROM.
Honestly I don´t know how it works this time and not the others but i'm happy with it independently of what happens.
... seems flashtool is detecting ur phone try to flash first the stock kernel and do not wipe everything it shud be in timing though.. onces it is flash charge ur phone in kernel mode (phone is off) then you can flash the stock fw of ur XU.
I bricked my phone
I bricked my xperia U as well... When i tried to power ON, it just vibrates and nothing happens, i dont even get the sony logo. When i get into flash boot mode it gets connected but after 20secs, the phone turns off again. Only fastboot mode stays on. How can i unbrick my phone??? Plz help. I made a mistake by flashing the custom jelly bean rom without flashing the kernel first.

No worries. The phone turns off because it doesn't receive any signal from the PC - many people make the mistake of connecting the device in flashmode first, and then they start the flashtool etc.
Instead, load the flashtool first, go to flashmode, select a complete/full stock ftf for your phone (whichever version you want, but do double check if the ftf has kernel.sin file in it) and press the flash button. Only once you get the pop up with the animation telling you to connect the phone in flash mode, connect the phone in flashmode (volume - button pressed when connecting cable). As soon as you connect the phone, the flashtool will start its magic and your phone won't turn off.
if you can go in cwm wipe system then you will only be stuck on sony logo then use this guide http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPPWRXcsz7g.....it will work because this same happened to me and i fixed it with this method!
